Caught up in muh feelz this weekend.

The Cure's Disintegration is often considered one of the greatest albums of all time, arguably the greatest by any band ever.

80's Cure was so prime. From their punk beginnings to their borderline no-wave explorations up until this masterpiece. As much as I love their later output, they had some definite misses in the 90s and onward.



Now if you'll excuse me. I'm gonna crawl back into my musky cave and play with my fingers a while

Theyre different beasts entirely. Faith and Pornography are far rougher around the edges but Disintegration is pure polish from start to finish. I used to resent it a little as a result, because it marks a definite shift for the worse for the band, but I might genuinely prefer it now in retrospect

Mine goes: Broken > Downward Spiral > With Teeth > PHM > The Fragile. Haven't really listened to anything after that.

Yeah Broken EP is his best. It's raw and full of energy and the length leaves you wanting more. I'd agree that Spiral and With Teeth are better than The Fragile. Fragile is like the go to favorite but it's way too bloated with filler, despite the high highs.

PHM though, like Adrenaline, is just too rudimentary. You're the kind of ninja who would say Undertow is the best Tool CD so I could see you being a huge fan

The new stuff is nice. I have a huge soft spot for The Slip. Lots of pop hooks. I like pop hooks. I need that balance and juxtaposition

My tattoo is the glitchy With Teeth logo with the PHM colors. Was my first. Also have the Fragile flowers. So I guess two nin tattoos lol

My fav Tool album is a tie between Aenima and Lateralus. 10k Days was just OK. Fear Innoc was very meh. I prefer Opiate over Undertow.

My favorite band of all time is Korn, and Jonathan Davis has said that The Cure is one of his most favorite and influential bands. He actually prefers deeply emotional and healing vibes over heavy anger-inducing music.

After the previous year, we could all use a bit of emotional healing. If the band's name is any indication, I believe it's high time I finally give The Cure a proper listen. :)

ok year zero was an interesting concept but everything else has been too much boring modern production techniques, no sense of urgency and just knob twiddling

I love The Cure. Their earlier goth/new wave sound really resonates and their later goth/pop stuff has its moments as well. Disintegration is a polished Cure experience.

My favorite might be Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me as it’s one of their most eclectic albums.

The Cure aren't a Goth outfit. Post punk maybe but not Goth, don't let the back brushed hairstyles and moping fool you ;)
I've always thought of them as a damn fine pop/punk outfit, despite Robert Smith's intentions...Lovecats, Let's Go To Bed and The Walk are great pop records, as were Friday I'm In Love, Just Like Heaven, Close To Me and In-between Days.
I think after Faith and Pornography, Robert Smith decided to cheer up a bit.

I'd recommend grabbing their first best of collection, "Standing on a beach/Staring At The Ocean" as your primer, then grabbing their albums.

Disintegration, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and The Head On The Door are their ”White Album", "Rubber Soul" and "Sergeant Pepper's” golden period, in my humble opinion :)
Still glad Bob and the boys are knocking out tunes.

My preference is Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me then Disintegration.

Once In a while, I'll thrown mixed up depending on what I'm doing. While Wish is more "upbeat", it has one of my favorite songs on it. (From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea)

I've always found the album before a band or artist makes their "masterpiece" to be in some ways the more enjoyable and interesting.

Kiss me, is all over the place, whereas Disintegration (ironically given its name) is astonishingly tight and cohesive for such a long album. I have similar feelings about Kate Bush; obviously Hounds Of Love is the one she'll be most remembered for and her most revered "work". But The Dreaming which precedes it is the hardcore fan favourite.
