The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

Nah, I just think that we have absolutely zero context for that scene, and explanations for what all occurred would normally come in the two-plus hours of film that follows, but we have over a seven-month wait to put that scene into context.

I agree with Sculli. I saw it at Lincoln Square, the preeminent (read: only real) IMAX theater in Manhattan, and the overall sound quality was horrendous. I've seen other films in that exact theater and it wasn't nearly that bad. I couldn't make out all of the lines spoken by
CIA Carcetti
, let alone Bane.

Holy shit, that IS Littlefinger then? I was like "this guy looks familiar...kind of like Aidan Gillan".

Also, what is being said when
the transfusion is done and Bane is about to leave the plane...he says something to a Spanish pretty guy with long hair and I can't understand either of them..."something something fire"

Also, this may end up being my very first IMAX film. I love the new DK Saga, but I've only seen BB and DK on DVD, never in a theater.

Just got back from MI4.

Can I just confirmed with others that saw the prologue that the prints were deliberately altered in terms of sound. Nobody in my audience could understand a goddamn thing anybody said. And the sound system was fine before and after the prologue. Disgusting by WB.

did you see MI4 in the same theatre as the prologue? Maybe the sound setup was different

Made a googling typo, to learn what's the deal. Found a link to a man named Corsetti, an abusive master torturer. Almost thought this was not a coincidence. Turns out, you all were talking about a HBO character. -_-

He says
The fire rises, when the other guy asks him if they made a fire.

You sound goofy saying this shit. Please report to my second last post. And honestly, the hoopla you've created in your post is hilarious.

Edit: Do not waste our time? Fuuuuckk ooofff. I'll waste my time the same way you.did.

Bane tells one of his members to stay back because they (the CIA) expect two bodies. The guy accepts this sacrifice but then asks "We started a fire?" and Bane replies "the fire rises"

The fire rises, when the other guy asks him if they made a fire.

The way the guy looks at him made me wonder if he was with
Bane, but I think he went down with the plane? Still, the fire thing doesn't make sense within the clip but I'm sure it will in the end.
I'm assuming he's talking about starting something revolutionary.

Edit:
Bane tells one of his members to stay back because they (the CIA) expect two bodies. The guy accepts this sacrifice but then asks "We started a fire?" and Bane replies "the fire rises"

Ah, okay.
I was wondering why the guy was left behind yet had this almost devotional look on his face.

I don't understand that fire rises line. It seems like an excuse to shoehorn it in.

Seeing it tonight at Waterloo IMAX, zoop.

EDIT: Yeah, what bengraven said. Perhaps it will, but it just confuses me, seems like some ridiculous mantra thing or something. Haven't heard it yet though.

LOL @ Hollywood Physics on display in that trailer. One part reminded me of that stupid POV bomb shot in Pearl Harbor.

Think the "Fire Rises" line is probably something like a battlecry or motto, for this gang/army/following. That's how I view it.

I have this weird feeling, that the underlying premise of the movie might be about how "regular" people look up to these Larger-Than-Life figures. Banes Men to Bane (that last look at the guy who stays on the plane...), compared to the people that look up to Batman (I keep thinking JGL fits in there, after the whole Bat Symbol Wall Drawing thing)

You haven't seen it in IMAX yet right?

It doesn't seem tacky to me. The chanting in the background is awesome and when
his partner asks "We started a fire?", Bane instead of answering with "yeah we did bro" says "the fire rises".

Also the whole operation is set up to rob the CIA of the money, send a message (the fire rises), and to keep the Dr. for himself for whatever reason.

?

When did they say they were robbing the CIA? They want the doctor, and only allowed put themselves on the plane because they wanted to know what, if anything, the CIA knows about Bane.

Hmm thinking about the "fire rises" thing... (speculation based upon a few rumors/spoilers)
It's obviously a mantra, but I wonder if it refers to "the cleansing fire" Ra's Al Ghul speaks of, which is the way the League of Shadows views its own actions when destroying/burning down villages/cities. Assuming Bane really is part of the LOS... Pretty neat stuff!

Edit: and "We've started the fire" could be referring to the fact that the plane heist is the first step in a plot to "burn"/destroy Gotham (which I'm assuming will be the driving plot of the film)? Seems like this movie is going to parallel Batman Begins pretty heavily (which would make the two films serve as nice bookends to eachother, of course)

So in summary, the dialogue would basically translate to:

"We've started the fire?" = So the plan is officially in motion?

"The fire rises." = Yep, Gotham is effed

?

oh sorry that was my assumption following the two CIA documents that were posted on the viral marketing site last week. in those documents they show the CIA arranging to have the Dr. picked up who apparently is in the custody of some militants in Russia somewhere. the militants ask the CIA to pay $3 million to have the Dr.

the prologue starts with the CIA picking up the doctor so I assumed the money was a motive. but you are right they don't mention that.

so what does the CIA know about Bane? CIA guy doesn't say anything other than ask Bane if it hurts without the mask

evidently, they don't really know anything about him other than that he's a merc/terrorist with a mask for some reason. Bane just wanted to make sure that Dr. Pavel didn't tell them anything more.

but the CIA only got the Dr right then and there. what would have he told them anyway?

still think that was missing some scenes from the real opening. although if this is the actual scene for scene opening, it looks like Nolan will make it less linear than his other Batman movies and more like his non-Batman movies. i actually would prefer that

BTW anyone else agree with me that
that can't be the real opening of the movie? I still say its the opening sequence but its spliced up with footage of Gordon and without some context to the whole CIA operation.

It is the opening. You will get context for the scene later just like the opening of Inception, or Batman Begins, or The Prestige, or Memento.

Pretty Boy: *Beginning to suit up to exit plane with the rest*

Bane: reassuringly ''No! They're expecting one of us in the wreckage, brother!''

Pretty Boy: ''..We started the fire''

Bane: ''The fire rises!''

Pretty Boy: *Looks up in admiration as Bane and his soldiers exit plane*

A fantastic action sequence, Bane is amazing, but we could not understand a god damn thing he was saying. Everything else was clear. We had a choice of the Batman or Bane tshirts in Seattle.

Joke about the quote above:

Pretty Boy : Beginning to suit up to exit the plane with the rest

Bane : "No, hmrprh mnu, in the pnrutrl , brother!"

Pretty Boy :"What was that?! Stay right here and you'll come back?"

Bane : "Hrmprph gmnurl turnlises"

Pretty Boy : Looks up in admiration as Bane exits the plane, waiting for him to come right back....."

Wham!!!

Not funny he died after that.

Can't get over how awesome the music and chanting was.

Hopefully it will be like that. It's what I loved so much about Begins and what I missed so much from The Dark Knight.

Fucking Warner just upload this in 720p on youtube and let's be done with it.

American marketing SMH.

Or sell the prologue on their site for the price of a movie ticket, for those of us that only have a "real" imax experience playing this over 200 miles away.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Ah, okay.

Really digging this bat symbol.

Looks like a vampire bat

I wonder if it is just a t-shirt thing or if it's actually going to be the new thing on Bats' chest.

That would go against absolutely everything they are going for with their strategy.

That strategy being to annoy people?

I don't get why they are so hard on people bootlegging the prologue. Those that want to participate in the ARG (or whatever) obviously get the advantage of seeing in the correct setting. But I don't see how releasing it on youtube or itunes trailers, would hurt the marketing effort in any way. IMO it would only increase buzz and goodwill.

The way it is now, people will still bootleg. Only in shitty fashion, which will result in shitty copies floating around and people getting pissed.

But I'm probably missing some nuances (or a lot) of their strategy. :/
