Maybe Batman will see Uncle Ben and Jor-El in the afterlife?

"Who the fuck are you guys? You're ruining my scene you pricks."

Lets say that Bruce does die and they do have some kind of afterlife or supernatural scene going on except they could make it ambiguous, like you could interpret it as happening in Bruce's head, would you be mad? Would that not fit at all with what this franchise is about? For example would you be mad if the last scene of Batman was Bruce seeing his parents again?

I doubt that would happen. We haven't been exclusively following Bruce through the story and I feel like it would step too far out of the narrative. Plus it would be incredibly difficult to do something like that and not have it be cheesy as all hell.

At the hospital, when he wakes up after 2 days of coma due to a car accident, still a kid... Batman never existed, it was just a dream... the nurse has catwoman's face, the doctor was liam neeson, the anesthetist was scarecrow and the janitor who molested him during his coma was joker. Bane was the symbolization of his broken spine.

Sounds kinda like The Batman Complex.

The sun is rising, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is having a cup of coffee watching Gotham from his window. On the radio in the background a newscaster is announcing the death of Batman. A bird lands on the window's frame... it's a robin. He smiles. Black screen.

Damn, I actually quite like that.

Probably because I can perfectly picture JGL's sweet smile.

Everyone is at Bruce's funeral. Everyone, including a man who doesn't seem to belong there.

Wearing a press badge and old-fashioned spectacles, this man, who is larger, more upright than those bred to live and cower in Gotham's shadow, seems to be searching in the distance for something.

In a split-second, he senses what he's searching for. Whether it was a sign, or nothing at all, he isn't sure. He stills his mind and listens again.

"Were you a friend of Bruce?" a woman in gaudy cats-eye glasses ask the man. A fellow journalist, the stranger knows her as Gossip Gerty of the Gotham Gazette.

"No ma'am. Just flew in to report the passing of the world's most obnoxious billionaire playboy philanthropist."

He pardons the friends and family that are shuffling about, sharing their memories of Bruce Wayne. However, the congregation is too noisy, and they're making it difficult for the large man from out of town to confirm his suspiscion about his old friend.

Another split-second, another heartbeat. The reporter was sure this time.

Bruce Wayne is alive, somewhere. Somewhere, in the depths of Gotham, beats the heart of justice, waiting for nightfall to hunt those who would use the dark to rule the innocents.

The spectacled reporter smiles, and walks away with another great story that he will never tell. He surrenders Gotham to its true protector.

ONLY TO COME BACK 2 WEEKS LATER WHEN LEXCORP BUYS WAYNE ENTERPRISES AND LUTHOR TRIES TO TAKE OVER GOTHAM'S UNDERWORLD

BECAUSE THAT GUY AT WAYNE'S FUNERAL WAS SUPERMAN

BRUCE WAYNE FAKED DEATH; IS BATMAN!! REPORTS LOIS LANE

Heh, that would be cool if Nolan plays along with the Dark Knight Returns

I'm thinking its gonna end with a random cut to a child waking up in a hospital bed. Next to him in a chair is Alfred, slumped over on the bed asleep. As the child moves around trying to speak and get his wits to him Alfred wakes up with a joyful, surprised look on his face. He gets up and runs out calling for a nurse. Nurses and doctors come in, check on the child, and report to Alfred that he is all right, that he's pulled out of his coma. They'll run some tests to be sure, but upon initial inspection, they believe he'll make a full recovery.

It turns out the boy is Bruce Wayne. Upon seeing the death of his parents he fainted, smashing his head on the concrete, causing a brain injury and falling into coma.

His life as an adult and as Batman, all just a coma induced dream. There is no Batman.

Alfred hugs him as we fade to black...

Since 2008, after I saw tdk in theaters, I have been dreaming about seeing tdkr.

No, seriously, dreams. I have had at least had 50 of them.

Last night I had a dream where I was watching tdkr. It started out with a musical number with christian bale singing out in the streets. I don't remember the lyrics, but it was a happy song.

Heath Ledgers joker had returned after escaping arkham......and batman with the help of young simba and nala from the lion king were trying to.........wait, what? and two face was back as well.........simba and nala teaming up with batman to stop two face and the joker?

anyway, about 5 hours into the movie I wondered to myself "what happened to bane and catwoman?". Why would Nolan make a batman movie with Lion King characters, and use the two villains from tdk?

I have dreams about movies I want to see too, and just as trippy as that :P

I've had a TDKR one too, can't remember anything about it though.

No offense buddy, but is it not so that when you're looking forward to a certain movie that much, it's almost certain the movie will ultimately disappoint you? I've had the same thing with the Transformers movies, part 2 and 3. Ofcourse the Batman movies are much better, but you know what I mean.

Most of that was probably the work of James Newton Howard who is unfortunately not returning for Rises.

This is for my homie JNH

I didn't like the TDK score.
I absolutely loved the Batman Begins score and still marvel at how much of a significant part it is in regards to the actual enjoyment I garner from watching the film.
It's as though the more absent Newton Howard became, the more quality was lost.

Batman Begins is still far above TDK for me.

He was barely on TDK either, so if you loved that score, you'll probably love this one too. I for one felt his absence to be incredibly noticeable though. BB's score is so much richer.

JNH was the best part of TDK score - the scene where Harvey has Gordon's family. so dire. DAT NEWTON HOWARD.

I was super hyped for the dark knight as well. I watched the trailers. When the movie came out it didn't just meet my hype, it surpassed it. I don't watch the trailers for tdkr as often, but I do think about it often.

It's a rarity that hype can kill my interest in something, especially if I know what I am getting into. Like Casino Royale.

Solo here hyped this movie up so much for me. When I saw it for myself, I loved it. after watching it I now want to see all the other ones, and the future ones with daniel craig as well.

The only way hype can kill my enjoyment of something is if i never had much interest in it in the first place.

Generally, you're right. I can think of times when obsessive expectations burned me (Spider-Man 3)..but then again, I was even more obsessive about TDK, and it's still one of my favourites.

I guess, at the end of the day, a good movie will always be good and vice versa.

With a couple notable exceptions, The Dark Knight's score mostly just reused themes. The Dark Knight Rises will do the same..and I doubt Zimmer will be opposed to using music JNH wrote, since both their names are on the Batman Begins soundtrack.

Mission accomplished!

Not really understanding the BB OST vs TDK OST debate. They're both effectively the same thing, except TDK has the Joker theme. I was shocked how similar they were when I first saw TDK in the theater.

Plus, Like a Dog Chasing Cars > Molossus so....

Wow, that trailer is brilliant.

Yeah, Arkham City's soundtrack is heavily lifted of the dark knight, I actually don't think think they shared songs but it is fairly similar.
