He's going to be a cop that admires Batman and helps him.

That's what I'm feeling. He's the Cop who gets the resistance on it's feet. It looks like he sees the chalk bat symbol from a kid in the trailer, and I think picks that up and uses it to spread the word (thinking back to No Mans Land and the Graffiti). Gets the cops back on their feet, or somehow helps Batman get out of his situation. He's a stand in for the Good People in Gotham City.

Yeah according to the earliest impressions from in-studio reviews of the script, the execs weren't happy with how it ends because it won't allow them to do a direct sequel with a new director and cast. Ending with Robin/Knightwing would not fit that sort of ending.

Personally I hope they don't kill off Batman.

I'm pulling for a "Everyone knows who Batman is" and he's not needed anymore. The City is saved and "fixed."

I think the odds are decent that he's a temporary Batman that steps in after Bruce gets fucked up. From the trailer, it looks like he's with Batman in that underground water cave when he gets destroyed. Maybe that implies some larger/deeper relationship between the two?

If you literally mean he'll put on the costume, not a fucking chance. If you mean he'll run around fucking with Bane's men and scribbling bat symbols all over the place, I would bet you are correct.

no way they kill off batman. i don't care how powerful nolan is, the studio would clamp down on that in a heartbeat. "kill batman? don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." one last $900 million movie with the current cast and director, or dump them and take 3 or 4 more $600 million dollar movies with a revolving set of directors and a new cast? it's all about the money.

Just speculation from the trailer, but it looks like Batman will be out of commission for a chunk of the movie, getting back the eye of the tiger. JGL is probably getting screen time because we'll view occupied Gotham through him. Every other character Batman knows is old or dead.

Exactly. Batman gets taken out at the end of Act 1, JGL steps up to the plate as a vigilante cop while Bruce is out of the picture in Act 2.

This is NOLAN'S trilogy, and it is finished for good after TDKR. Of course more Batman movies will eventually be made, but they will not be in Nolan's universe so it doesn't matter if Bruce dies at the end of TDKR or not. It won't affect future Batman films.

He won't die. I'm pretty sure they showed us the ending shot of the movie in the trailer.
Is it the bridge scene?
ok this is swinging for the fences, but we don't get to see the actual batsuit/armor so it could be jgl in the Azrael suit, new batman

Going by the trailer the story line will be
Gotham is driven into more chaos in 8 years as batmans ability to catch bad guys has a limit as more people rob and steal due to economy and police also try to go after batman . Bane makes people thinkhe is dead in a plane crash tho his real aim is to finish the job of rasgul which was to cleanse gotham. Bane does this by creating chaos and implicating everyone in gotham from the good the theives the robbers the rich and the poor in a scenario that joker would only dream off.he also catches batman and destroys him the first time until he escapes but almost gives up being batman until he sees the cries of alle people in gotham both good and bad. The rise chant turns from a chant of fire rising to the chant of the dark knight rises. Batman goes and fights bane one last time even as many in gotham believe bane was batmans creation

As someone who has seen the prologue,
the planes in the trailer (assuming that's what you meant when you said plane crash) have nothing to do with batman, at least not directly. It's bane collecting blood for some reason.

Nah. We know from the last trailer that Gotham is at peace,
which is why Batman has gone away by the start of the movie
. Also seems clear that at some point Bane has Bruce imprisoned somewhere. I'm guessing the scene of Catwoman looking down into a cell with a worried look is her looking at fucked up Bruce before breaking him out.
