The Dark Knight Rises Unsafe (?) Hype Thread |5 Spoiled, 2 Of Them Mods!|

If I disliked the second half of The Dark Knight, am I going to enjoy this? I know you guys can't provide a definitive answer, but just going from what you've learnt/expect to see?

I didn't enjoy the Two-Face plotline and I thought the final sequence involving the boats was overwrought, though I think that may have something to do with my lack of interest once Heath Ledger got less screen time. Everything after the hospital thing I was kinda indifferent to.

Don't mean to ruin your thread, just wondering whether I should invest my money this time?

the movie is gonna be a fucking spectacle regardless. Even there is a 50% chance you won't feel it, it's easily worth the price.

With that said, all impressions are seriously ridiculously amazing. And I mean ridiculously.

I think your hard earned money would be better spent buying you and your loved one a Like It sized ice-cream at Coldstone Creamery.

Point taken.

I'll give it a miss then.

No you shouldn't watch it. It's probably not all that good either.

lol poor guy getting fed sarcastic responses and doesn't realize it :(

Nah I'm completely aware of what the sarcasm was underlining. Hence point taken. If there were going to be major style/tone differences I'm sure someone would have mentioned it.

I'll wait for reviews and maybe give TDK a second chance.

it was sarcasm because everyone in this thread is crazy hyped for the movie, the tone is in fact in different (it's like batman begins/tdk elements in one), and the impressions from people who have seen it ARE in fact mindblowing at the moment.

Right, but the hype is from people who REALLY loved TDK, and he didn't, chances are you probably won't like this since it's clearly building off the same world.

it would be shitty if it weren't building off that world wouldn't it? This is the third movie in a trilogy. And everything seems to point to this being tonally different than TDK. Closer to Begins (more of a character journey, etc..).

Not that it matters, he will watch it. Everyone will. It's one of those movies that everyone will have seen just because. Even those who never saw 1 and 2.

Well yeah, that was my thinking. I loved Batman Begins from start to finish but when TDK went all out in the second half, I found it a bit too overblown and not really my thing.

I guess I'll see what you fellas are saying next week and decide then.

Crazy idea: why not wait until the movie is actually out before determining whether or not the guy should skip it?

I find this hard to believe. Love it or not, the last movie possessing such a 'must-view' tag was Avatar and its ability to drag people to the cinema was unique.

At least where I live the hype surrounding this one is visible but not feverish in the slightest.

EDIT: I'm going to bow out, it's not my intention to derail your thread.

I've found that the hype for this is a bit quiet. As in, unless I bring it up, the fans for the film will not speak up. As if there's something embarrassing about being a Batman fan. But once it comes up in a conversation, they can't keep their mouth shut. I can see this making bigger money than TDK, no question about that.

has anyone else noticed how little hype there is surrounding this? I've yet to see a billboard, ads on telly, etc and people aren't really talking about (this is based on people I work with).

TDK had a lot of hype surrounding it a few weeks before release, this is feeling a lot like TAS with regards to hype/general interest.

Hmm? What you term is not hype, its marketing, people already have decided when batman is coming and they know they will see it, que deathly hallows 2

feel the same as you about DK.... Bane is cooler the TF so yes....

For people from New York City:
Are there any other cinemas than AMC that have IMAX? I'm trying to get tickets since im going to be in new york the next couple of weeks, but they dont seem to accept foreign paypal / creditcards.

Im not sure the link but there was a report a couple weeks back that TDKR was tracking very similar to Avengers in regards to interest level and they mentioned it was above TDK as well.

I can't even find an IMAX that isnt sold out of shows at midnight and all of Friday near me

OMG you don't know this?!

Don't you remember the Frank Miller/Arronofsky "Year One" famous script with jive-talking Alfred (Little Al) as a mechanic who raises homeless Bruce Wayne in a garage and a suicidal Gordon that was never picked up?

We could have seen Michael Caine do blackface. At that point in his career, he would have.

Question for those who've been listening to the score snippets: is Molossus (or a rearrangement of it ala "Like A Dog Chasing Cars") in there? It had better be!

Track 13 is a remix of Molossus and Track 11 will probably be the theme of this film, like Molossus and Like a Dog Chasing Cars were.
