TDKR will bring Bruce's story full-circle...

I expect it will end with
Bruce finally borrowing and driving off in the Rolls.

Will Smith can be a great actor. Not sure why you're hating on the fact that he gets his kids roles. I sure as hell would do the same thing.

1) Smith plays it safe in his choice of roles, that's why people hate on him. He's too interested in maintaining the brand, when he is capable of much, much more.

2) You would go and thrust your kids out into the spotlight, ensuring their lives will be carefully scrutinized forever, when they're already guaranteed a lifetime of financial support?

1. People hate on him because he does safe roles? Does he fail at these safe roles? I see no reason to "hate" him for this reason. So what if he's not doing Oscar worthy performances as long as he is entertaining.

2. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were the Smiths' personal psychiatrist. You know for a fact that he is "thrusting" his kids out there? There's no possibility that Jaden Smith wanted to be a Karate Kid? No possibility that they see the career their parent's have had and want to live up to the Smith name? Not everyone does everything for money.

Will Smith and Brad Pitt didn't turn down Inception, they were just in the initial discussion when Nolan was talking it over with WB.

The biggest real turn down recently was Matt Damon turning down Harvey Dent, I think Matt even talked about it during a recent interview.

TDKR needs 100% more Bowie. A shame.

I love the story behind the casting of Bowie:

I searched a bit and couldn't find some actual hard evidence from Nolan/David themselves, but I remember hearing awhile ago from something so for now I'm going to have to quote Wikipedia :(

For the role of Nikola Tesla, Nolan wanted someone who was not necessarily a film star, but was "extraordinarily charismatic". Nolan said that "David Bowie was really the only guy I had in mind to play Tesla because his function in the story is a small but very important role".[2] Nolan contacted Bowie, who initially turned down the part. A lifelong fan, Nolan flew out to New York to pitch the role to Bowie in person, telling him no one else could possibly play the part;[8] Bowie accepted after a few minutes.[2]

I remember that Will Smith was originally gonna be Neo in the Matrix.

That would have been a VERY different film!

He turned down the role so he could star in Wild Wild West. Yeah...

Well, hindsight is 20/20, Big Will

1. Bill Simmons wrote an interesting article on this. He's entertaining but he could have been so much more (Inception, Matrix, Django, etc.). I don't hate him either, just merely explaining why people are frustrated with him.

2. Well, considering how you were the one initially placing himself in Smith's shoes (are you Will Smith?), I think it's pretty strange you're accusing me of being presumptuous. There were a bunch of rumors recently about Will and Jada's relationship dissolving lately, particularly from sources close to them saying that one was pushing the kids into movie-making more than the other one. So no, I don't think I'm coming from the wrong place here.

Anyway, this has gotten real far away from Batman, so if you'd like to continue, we could always go to PMs.

1. I fully admit he's doing safe roles when capable of more (hence why I said he could have been great in Inception) but I think people are also hating on him just because he's Will Smith, this being GAF and all.

2. There's a big jump from my assumptions and yours. You don't think he had any say in getting Jaden to play his son in Pursuit of Happyness or his role in the Will Smith produced film, The Karate Kid?

I guess you can go on believing TMZ and using it as fact though, that always works. No need for PMs, I'm done.

Oh and to keep this Batman related, I totally think Damon could have made a good Dent.

Matt Damon as Dent would have been weird. He's a great actor, but Aaron did such a fantastic job it's hard to imagine Damon in it.

He's simultaneously terrifying and genuinely heartbreaking at the ending.

This is what I dread about the next series of Batman films... the villains. All the villains in Nolan's films feel so "grounded", as if... they could really exist. They feel far scarier for that fact alone. And the actors chosen have been exemplary in their roles.

Scarecrow sticks out like a sore thumb in that first gif. The weakest villian in the Nolan trilogy, really didn't like his portrayal.

I really liked scarecrow in BB. Also being the weakest villain doesn't say much. There haven't been many and they have all been quite good (and we haven't really seen bane yet).

Why not even one of those gifs has Catwoman ?

I mean .. she is theoricaly a thief and a villain ....

Seriously? Scarecrow and Two-Face? Not to mention the Joker's reliance on mentally insane people to do exactly what he told them to do

I didn't make the GIFs.

Well, the performance and writing makes them feel more grounded. Scarecrow is basically just a psychopathic shrink that drugs people to fuck them up, to make himself feel powerful. Two-Face was a good man who was systematically torn down and sent over the brink of madness. The Joker is a horrifying sociopath who does things just for the hell of it. As for those mentally insane people doing whatever he tells them to... you've never heard of cults? I think the same principle applies to those following the Joker.

1. is a stupid reason to hate him

2. you don't know he's thrusting anyone into any limelight, it was likely his kids choices. His oldest has done no acting.

at this point Ryan Phillippe might just be a poor man period.
Yoo damn......

The night Ra's died, I got his body from the rubble. The explosion that blew up his train came from his microwave emitter. I know you're trying to defend Ra's honor, but there is no question that he died by his own hand. I loved Ra's, as I've loved you, Bane. As your friends love you.

what is he from? i forgot, i know he played alfred in something and it was horribly bad....but which movie...cant remember.

Spiderman 3, is the butler that laid out the truth to Harry about his fathers death. So damn terrible, the damn butler couldn't have found a worse time to reveal the truth.

"Oh shit, I guess now's as good a time as any to deliver this vital plot information now that all the pointless fighting is over and your face is scarred, but your father REALLY didn't get killed by Spidey. Isn't that kinda funny? Well, cya later!"

Yeah I know MJ was in trouble, but couldn't Peter take 2 seconds to tell Harry what happened in Spider-Man 2?

o_o

lol at Mr Freeze.

Y'know, the gif has inspired me to watch the original movies before Rises hits. someone needs to make a rewatch thread, would be awesome, for the B&R comments alone.
