What?? Every trailer has been good, even the teaser trailer is good.

I see the point. The two trailers for this movie weren't as good or captivating as the two trailers for TDK.

The posters have been largely missing and underwhelming. No real viral campaign. Hopefully all the marketing budget is saved up for the final push these last two months.

Gordon's part in the teaser trailer was bad. The BB stuff and the short Bane vs. Batman clip at the end were good though.

Second trailer was OK. Kind of mixed signals though.

Third trailer was pretty great, not up to TDK levels but very focused on painting a nice bleak portrait of Gotham.

WB really screwed up in not hiring Intralink to do the marketing campaign for TDKR. My guess is Intralink wanted a bigger contract this time, and WB balked.

the movie wont have viral because WB believes the movie will sell itself and that it doesn't need it. I read awhile back they believe in the movie standing on name alone that they will not even promote it heavily at comic con, but I don't remember if that was proven to be a fake or not.

I need me some of that 42 entertainment swag. I have a bunch of viral stuff from the dark knight viral stuff like dent stickers and buttons but I want more.

Looking at how well movies did after heavily marketing at Comic Con, they are not wrong for skipping it.

I wonder how much Disney wasted on Tron there.

I thought the teaser was really good, the first real trailer wasnt the best, but it was ok. The third trailer is one of my favorite trailers of the last couple years. The music and imagery give a very bleak outlook and it fits well with the theme.

I can see the thought that it will stand on its own and on Nolan's name.

TDK might have needed it because while BB was a rejuvenation and success, it didn't break records or set the world on fire.

Coming off of Inception and TDK, TDKR might not need as much selling.

Hatin' already?

*splooge* @ the two tv spots

Remember when people were complaining about too much Batman in the daytime?

Now you see why Batman is out in the daytime. Sometimes you can't wait for the street lights to turn on, like when fighter jets appear over your city.

What I like about the marketing so far is how very little it's giving away so far. I feel like I've seen 5min of a 2.5hr movie.

That's what surprised me about TDK. I thought at first they were giving away the whole movie, but when I watched it, I realized I had known like a fraction of it.

Things are a little different this time because I followed most of the shooting from the beginning, but there's still a decent chunk of the movie filmed in-doors, that nobody's been privy to. These trailers keep on showing how much they've kept under wraps.

That teaser was superb, I don't know what you guys are smoking.

"Eee err in dus toogader. En den you where gonn. Deh Badmen hass to come bach."

"What if he doesn't exist anymore?"

"Ee musst. Ee musst."

Couldn't understand a single thing he said on first/second viewings.

No, seriously. WB is just trying too hard now. I bet they didn't even plan to put out a crap commercial like that until Avengers did so amazingly well at the box office. Avengers was successful for that stuff, but that is not how any of Nolan's "Batman" films have been made. Might as well get Schumacher back to direct if you want a clown fest.

These don't have shit on the Inception TV spots. Those things were insane. Still fun though, I like the part where it looks like his Tumbler is going up a skyscraper.

TDK had similar spots too, what the hell are you talking about?

My personal favorite was when Batman asked Joker to "let her go" and he's like "very poor choice of words".

perfect.

No, you're right, the Avengers did this. The other movies didn't do this at all for TV spots.

I highly doubt the avengers changed their marketing. If anything, I am sure they are confident a Nolan Bat flick is license to print money. Nolan's films have always had a couple stupid jokes, so it isnt surprising to see them in a prime time spot when families might be watching.

Right now I'm having trouble believing you were even born when the TDK TV spots were running. They had goofy moments laced throughout them.

"He does that."

<Kids shooting their fingers at cars>

<The Batpod-wall thing and Joker going "Hmm!">

No, no, no. All credit is due to Avengers :bow

This thread is helping to reveal which Gaffers literally don't know what in the hell they're talking about. Not only did TDK have jokes and one liners, practically every blockbuster does. It's the way Hollywood works.
