How big is the difference between 1570 and digital? Is it worth driving an hour and half into the Palisades for?

Technically not a big difference. Not for the average person. It is still a bigger screen with better sound.

But it is probably the last big picture to show widely in this 15/70 format so it is kind of nostalgic.

The main thing is don't get those fake IMAX where it is a normal theatre screen with an IMAX name.

It shouldn't be that big of a surprise to us, but it sure is a disappointment - Christopher Nolan will not be helping in any capacity with a Justice League film. When asked in an Associated Press interview whether he had plans for the movie, his reply was simple.

"No, none at all," Nolan said. "We're finished with all we're doing with Batman. This is the end of our take on this character."

Easy enough, but it seems he's cutting off any hopes we might have had of him doing any other DC property all together.

He also said he [does] not intend to get involved with any future solo Batman films when distributor Warner Bros., which owns DC Comics, decides the time is right to launch a new take on the masked vigilante.

"Batman will outlive us all, and our interpretation was ours. Obviously, we consider it definitive and kind of finished. The great thing about Batman is he lives on for future generations to reinterpret, and obviously, Warners will have to decide in the future what they're going to do with him," Nolan said. "We've had our say on the character. ...

"I've got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any 'Justice League' project."

Good.

heard this show takes place after tdk, so our bane is fighting a superhero
past his prime
, still suffering mental and physical damage....what kind of superbaddie takes pride in doing so?

Well, this isn't necessarily a matter of pride. Bane is supposed to be extremely intelligent, and thus chooses to strike Batman at his weakest, where he knows Batman cannot win.

I don't think Nolan could pull off a buddy-hero movie like that anyways...doesn't seem like his cup of tea. I'd love to watch him try because I think he'd do something cool...but Whedon basically put out the blueprint on how to make a successful mainstream hero movie and it doesn't seem to be in Nolan's wheelhouse at all.

Glad he's done with it all.

Wouldn't expect him to be involved in such a thing honestly. There are too many characters that simply wouldn't work in the Nolanverse. I think there would be too much compromising going on and it ultimately wouldn't work.

It wasn't going to be part of the Nolanverse either way I imagine. Unless WB tries to clumsily shoehorn these future DC movies into it or something. That'd be awful.

Glad he's stepping away.

I really hope they don't reboot Batman again and instead do something like Batman Beyond (assuming Batman doesn't die in The Dark Knight Rises).

Just because Batman's buddies are senior citizens doesn't mean he can't do multiple heroes.

Sameseis. I feel like the obvious thing to do would be to capitalize on the popularity of these films and simply try to force the issue. I'm glad Nolan isn'y allowing them to do this. I'd rather they start fresh and build up to it like Marvel did. Though it'd be a much taller task to be honest.

I don't see Nolan handling that many strong personalities well.

...as I type that I realize that in TDK he had to weave together Batman, The Joker, Two Face and Gordon...but to do a Justice League movie using a bunch of heroes other people created for you in a Nolan movie just feels wrong.

Nolan would have to personally do all the setup movies for it to even have a chance to work...and I'm pretty sure he's clearly signalling that he's out of the DC business for a bit (at least directing/writing-wise).

Didn't Nolan help out with the story for the new Supes movie? How does his "godfathering" work as far as DC properties? Does he just help out with choosing directors, writers, etc.?

You got FakeMAX'd.

Did you?

I know they made a google maps listing for lieMAX

Warner Brothers: We can't do anything right. Spielberg this franchise and we'll all be rich!
Nolan: I'll give it minimal effort.
WB: BRILLIANT!

Batman can never die. He is more than a man. He is a symbol.

Now Bruce Wayne...

Speaking of which, if Bruce Wayne really does die in this movie, do any of you think Warner Bros forced some scene at the end that hints at a replacement? I really hope that isn't JGL....

As for the Best Buy deal, not only do they have Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray for $9.99 (with $5 off TDKR tickets) but they also have Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Year One, Gotham Knight, etc. on sale. I picked up The Animated Series Season 3 for $14.99 with $5 off a TDKR ticket. Cheapest I have ever seen it.

Side Question: If I've already bought my DKR tickets, can I still imply these two $5 off coupons to them? If not I'll just use to them to get tickets for a second viewing.

Question for those who've been listening to the score snippets: is Molossus (or a rearrangement of it ala "Like A Dog Chasing Cars") in there? It had better be!

Not from what I've heard on the two sets of samples. But who knows.

I do have to say there's lots of throwbacks to BB, especially on one specific track though...

The hell is wrong with JGL?

I don't think WB is going to force Nolan to do anything. He's their golden boy, they won't do anything to drive him away.

The snippets of the score on the Featurette are so damn good. Especially that part around the 6 minute mark.

Goddam Hans.

I agree. I think it's around 6:20 or so and it just keeps getting better. So good that I finally preordered it a few minutes ago. :)
