What. She doesn't tell her that she's going to call the guards off. She says they aren't to be trusted.. And that she should leave the house.

Yeah, she does. She says there will be ten minutes where they'll be called off.

Is anyone elses blu-ray acting weird? mine goes from fullscreen to letterbox every once in a while. Why does it change ratio like that?

It takes advantage of the IMAX footage so it goes fullscreen.

if a few shots of buildings is all they had for Imax I'm glad I didn't go.

It's all of the action scenes. The Imax cameras were too loud for dialogue heavy scenes so they shot all the scenes with overdubbed audio in Imax. Watch it again and see how many times it switches.

You should've seen Imax shots in the actual Imax theater, they looked incredible. And they only chose mostly outdoor shots that would look better in Imax to shoot on that format.

OK; just contributed to the awesome and bought it on BD!

Batman had already killed Dent, and was already going to go down as a "dark knight." At least, by taking the blame for Dent's murders, he not only helps preserve Dent's reputation but also he is able to make Gotham afraid of him again. Maroni had told Batman that the mob was wise to his "rules," and that Batman would never kill someone; if everyone believed that Batman has been killing mobsters and crooked cops, then they'll start fearing him again.
I never thought of this that way. I was well aware of Batman wanting to preserve Dent's good name/image. But I never thought of that angle you bring up. And wouldn't having exposed Dent null/void all the arrests he made? Some type of technicality?

Good movie but the hosptial scene was ridiculous and stupid. " Hey look at me i'm going to blow up a hospital and hop right into a bus because nobody will be looking at the hospital blowing up behind them". It's just that easy.
Could have been some of Joker's buddies had hijacked the bus already? And were waiting for their "boss"? Were the hostages at the building towards the end of the film from the hospital? The Joker's men did have doctor's uniforms.

When the Joker enters the bus if you look in the back window just behind where he sits down you'll see some guy give a thumbs up to the front of the bus. That guy was meant to signal that Heath was okay and they could blow up the building. Nolan decided to keep it in and use that man as one of Joker's goons. And yes, the hostages were the doctors on the Joker's getaway bus.

Why is everybody suddenly trying to say that every scene in the movie was "unnecessary" or "over-the-top" or "ridiculous"? Seriously, the theme of the movie is escalation; everything in it is necessary and nothing took it too far.

I figured as much. Never noticed the thumbs up though. Thanks for the heads up. Will watch closely next time! Including the one time in the theater and at home on dvd, I've seen this movie four times already and I never get bored of it. :D But it seems like Nolan and co. covered every base. I can't think of anything in the movie that doesn't have an explanation. This is such a well made, quality movie. I love the fact that they keep the movie as CG-less as possible, if there is any.

You even see Anthony Michael Hall get grabbed by one of the Joker's men and forced into the bus.

Do any of you have a Dark Knight ringtone? I'm trying to use a cue from the score however is hard to find. So far all I can come up with is a piece from "Like a Dog Chasing Cars".

Shut up fan boy.

Well, I got my 2 disc DVD a couple of days ago and I must say I'm dissapointed by the near-total lack of extra features, specifically more behind the scenes, documentaries, and interviews. Did they not have a camera crew shooting during production? The menus seem rather rushed as well...anyways hopefully we'll get something better over the summer. This seems pretty meh after having to wait 4/5 months or whatever, especially considering all the buckets of awesome shit on the Iron Man DVD.

Oh - anyone know if that full Nolan transcript was posted? Don't think I got to see that yet.

stage 1 (July-sept): Bat hysteria - everyone loves batman and circle jerks over nolan.

stage 2 (oct-nov): People start nit picking the movie to death. Bat fans have no life and the emptyness starts seeping in. Bat-fans turn critical.

stage 3 (dec): Every bat-fan watches this film 12 times, and starts bitching about little things as they have nothing better to do in their life. Some bat-fans convert into haters.

stage 4 (Jan - Feb): Heath Ledger inevitably wins the oscar, bat-fans circle jerk. Haters claim it was because "he died". Escalation.

stage 5 (Feb - Jul): Bat-fans have watched this film over 20 times, and TDK lines become over used pop culture references - to the point of annoyance. Bat-fans convert into haters.

.
.
.
.
.
.
stage 6 (Aug 2009): GAF is flooded with "TDK is over-rated tosh" thread. Many Gaffers agree. Internet hate cycle begins.

Stage 7 (Nov 2009): WB announces Batman 3 and cast, with nolan back at the helm

-> GO BACK TO STAGE 1.

I just saw The Dark Knight, and Heath Ledger was brilliant.

But I didn't like the movie much. :(

I liked Batman Begins more actually. Batman Begins felt more... I dunno. Honest? I don't really know.

It's strange really, I'm not quite sure what it is about the movie that didn't quite click with me, but it just didn't... click.

I love Nolan but he has this stupid stance of not wanting people to see the magic the goes behind movie production. You'll have to settle for buying the backissue of Cinefex at cinefex.com that covers TDK.

I saw TDK in HD (XBLMP) last night (4th time watching it) and it is still SO good.

It's weird how it took me 4 watches to figure out a lot of reasons for certain things happening, why someone said/did this, etc. :lol

The Two Face/Joker
hospital scene
is still my favorite scene of the whole movie. So fucking powerful and amazing.

Finally saw the movie last night. I'd say its a solid B movie. Acting was good minus Rachel (WTF were they thinking there) and the plot was decent, if not a touch drawn out. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'd love to see Robin in the next movie :(

I have never seen how Robin fits into the theme (yeah I get the story) - Batman takes on a dark persona to instil fear into his enemies. How does a bright red and green Robin Hood choir boy tag-along keep up with this?

Also, the Full-screen IMAX parts of the Blu-ray, I'm guessing (since I don't have it on Blu-ray) only go to 16:9, which is NOT IMAX. When I saw it on IMAX, it was practically a square ratio. It was TALL.

The more I watch it the more it becomes a B movie, or well 8/10. Things are inconsistent until the Joker targets the judge/commissioner/Dent. After that things get awesome

What do you mean inconsistent?

Do you even understand the movie yet or are you still hung up on that "Dent died for our sins" nonsense you were going on about?

Yeah I am kinda dissapointed in the bare bone DVD (blu ray actually). i like the videos talking about the certain scenes but I would much rather have had just commertary. I always love listening to those but this damn movie doesn't have it. :( Hopefully WB forces them to make a awesome one later (which they probably will, since they like money).

I couldn't agree with you more.

I'm skimming around the soundtrack, and I can't find the main theme, not the soft one, I'm talking about the main action theme, the one they usually have in trailers. Please tell me it's on the soundtrack in some form, I really hate when OST's leave out good pieces of music.

Edit : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brman0WzBxo, the part I'm talking about begins at 1:57. It's short, and they never over do it in either movie, but I really enjoy it, do Zimmer or Howard ever build off of that..loop? I don't know much about this type of music, so excuse my absence of terms.

The end is comic book morality at its cheesiest. If you want to defend it go ahead

It's Molossus from the Batman Begins soundtrack.
