The comment on that awful review was great:

Note to anyone who considers themselves an authority on movies: stop using video games as a derogatory term. It makes you sound like a 75 year old mental patient.
eh it is just the mainstram atitude of them sometimes, what I think is weird is games try to be like movies, and movies try to be like games, so isnt it really movies trying to be like movies??

I also think Wall-E is overrated.
I like that wally managed to put the consumer satiric in a big movie for lots to watch instead of some little arts movie

Came home from work and found this in my study room.

Harvey Dent should be here this month. Tumbler is tempting. DAmn you Hot-Toys!

The Dark Knight is still being shown in six theaters. They're doing a rerelease on Friday, aren't they? This thing will have been in theaters for 8-9 months when all is said and done. Not many movies do that these days.

They are only upping it 250 screens though.

Man, there's very miniscule hype about this Friday's re-release. I wouldn't even know it's happening if /film wasn't giving away tickets.

My local theater just opened up an IMAX theater here a few months ago, so I'm finally getting to see TDK on the really big screen this weekend. :D

Yeah definitely. It was one of the funniest of the year. Too bad no one saw it. :(

Too bad he's banned, because I saw it, and it definitely was not one of the funniest of the year. No way, no sir, no how.

PS. IMAX being rereleased at my IMAX of choice. I'll probably go see it this weekend! :D Total IMAX viewings up to five, total theater viewings up to six.

Academy Award noms are in, and TDK didnt get a Best Picture nom. Since Ive been predicting this for ages, I feel somewhat vindicated given I was usually met with "LOLZ WHAT" when I said it wouldnt.

You didn't say the slots would be filled by Milk and the Reader though! I didn't think it should be Best Picture but Frost/Nixon is the only one I'm gunning for...even Benjamin Button over the rest.

Nah, I never said who would get the slots, just that TDK wouldnt. Since the Academy awarded LOTR, something tells me it will be a long time again before they award a fantasy/superhero flick.

After watching the movie the second time on Blu-ray, I don't see it being as great as I remember it being the first time I watched it. I like Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, but he is rather terrible as Batman. From voice acting to the way he moves, I just plain disliked it. Also I wasn't getting the feeling of Gotham city, it didn't feel like a fantasy setting any more.

GOOD. This isn't Tim Burton's gothic wonderland anymore.

Anyway...just got back from the IMAX showing...first time I've seen any movie, let alone TDK, in IMAX. The second I walked into the theater, I was blown away; it may have ruined regular theater screens for me.

:lol , it sure did for me. My first viewing of TDK was in IMAX and nothing else compared after that.

Indeed. I saw TDK in a normal theatre the first time, and when I saw it in IMAX, the first scene started I thought to myself, "Holy shit."
It's too bad they didn't film the whole thing in IMAX.

The entire theatre pretty much had that reaction when I went. The people I went with were all seeing it for the second time because they got tickets for a regular theatre, but I'm glad I waited. From now on, whenever there's an IMAX release, I'm seeing that version.

Heath won best supporting actor at the SAG Awards

:D
:D

Edit: Gary Oldman accepted for him.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28843665/

Ledger's award was accepted by "The Dark Knight" co-star Gary Oldman.

"I'm quite emotional," Oldman said. "It is a great honor to be asked to accept this on behalf of Heath. He was an extraordinary young man with an extraordinary talent, and it is wonderful that you have acknowledged that and honored that talent tonight."

Damn those Hot Toys are awesome. I hope the Joker one is still available in the middle of the year because that's the soonest I'll be able to afford one. Looks like they're selling out in most sites though. :(

Hey guys, I need some help. I want to research the comic book inspirations of the Dark Knight. I know that The Long Halloween is the movie's main influence followed by The Killing Joke. I'm trying to make an image gallery where I'll show the comic book pages that inspired scenes in the movie. I already have a few images like the interrogation scene (from the killing joke) and various scenes from the long Halloween (Batman, Gordon, and Harvey on top of MCU, the giant pile of cash and it being burned)

Any other scenes that have been inspired by various Batman novels?

Hush---when the joker's henchman got electrocuted by trying to remove Batman's mask

Long Halloween- The Dent court scene (just in case you missed it)

I knew about the Dent court scene from the long Halloween. It's just pretty hard finding screen caps of that scene from TDK. As for Hush, I'll have to look that up. Do you have pics? Thanks for the help.

Who does he play? THe link doesn't work for me because the internet I am stealing runs at a 56k pace.
He voices some really thin prisoner and speaks two really cheesy lines as he stabs people:lol

my bluray is still wrapped. Just don't feel like it watching it again so soon - even though I really should because my cinema had busted up sound system when I was there.... and kind of ruined it for me a little (BUT COULDN'T BECAUSE THE FILM IS AWESOME!)

Fuck.

I was actually kind of hoping Nolan would take some time off, maybe do another smaller film like "The Prestige" in between. I don't know, after TDK's spectacular success, if he starts doing this so soon the expectations are going to be simply impossible, and it's also going to be impossible for them to keep a lid on it like they did with TDK.

Fuck that. Goyer may not take anything else seriously (Jumper lol) but he was a big part of why Batman Begins was one of the leanest scripts around. I wouldn't want it written without Goyer in the process.
