Do you lose anything if you go rogue and get cut down?

I mean, is the decision to go rogue a weighted one versus staying cordial?

I suppose what I'm getting at is will this be a playground for griefers and extraction point campers, or is it balanced to counteract that?

EDIT: Found this...best loot awarded to rogue players? Sounds like pvp is the only way to go then? Not sure if I agree with that decision. http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/373873/The+Divisions+best+PvP+loot+goes+to+rogue+players/

He says best rewards, not loot.
You don't get special loot just by going rogue or getting a high rogue status.

Damn, the open beta is of course on the weekend where we get a visit from the in-laws. Really hope to get at least an hour to get an impression if it is something I want to put some hours in. But hearing the mostly positive impressions I think I would be on the safe side if I pre order it.

Vita remoteplay to the rescue!

In regards of the pre order, if I would get it for PS4 on the PlayStation shop, which pre order skins would I get, as I've seen lots of different skins floating in the web.

Depends on the version of the game, and perhaps the region you are in. But all pre orders should get the hazmat gear set, and if you pre order the gold edition you should be getting the national guard gear set.

The problem I see with the current DZ mechanic is that going rogue (or rogue-hunting) is the way to get guaranteed high-end equipment with known stats.
The alternative PvE/exploration route doesn't get (much) cash, and requires praying to RNGesus for high-end loot.

Most players will have specific item types that they want, so the guaranteed path will be much more appealing than praying that a good SMG/backpack/air filter drops.

I hope they buff the DZ$ rewards from non-rogue activities so that PvE/co-op/exploration is equally valid.
The RNG loot drops can't be the sole incentive for co-operative play, since they are equally available to PvP players. I'm still not sure how they can balance loot extraction so that extraction points aren't camped/ninja'ed by dedicated PvP players. The only reason that didn't happen in the beta is because the drops are 99% trash compared to getting DZ$ rewards for vendor items.

Like every other player that dies in the dark zone you drop any contaminated items and some money, you also become a target for other players when you go rogue as other people can see you on the map. You don't get any special items or actual rewards besides experience.

Anyone else debating whether to purchase this on PC or PS4 due to online community longevity?

Doesn't really matter. For example BF4 has 32k peak PC players and 38k on PS4 as of now, pretty comparable, I'd say. Moreover, loot mmo is a pretty popular genre on pc gaming scenes.

That's great to hear! I just built a gaming pc around a Fury X so I really wanted to get it on PC and now I will.

They already have agreements in place to offer those gear sets as pre-order bonuses in EU at different stores. They didn't have that for other regions so they did the Agent Origins promo.

Thing is that AGENTORIGINS code thing gives player all the costumes, but in EU you won't get all the costumes no matter from who you pre-order. I think even GAME in UK you have option to choose 1 costume out of 2 available from them? That is kinda shitty towards EU based fanbase.

I did read on the Ubi forums that they were thinking about releasing all the costumes for everyone at a later date.

What's that, you haven't had anything to eat in three days? Hmm.. I have this energy bar right here.

Say, that's a mighty fine scarf you have there...

Just get both. Can get pc copy for 30 something if you look around. Did the same but with x1.

The only bad part about this is that you will have to maintain two separate characters is you purchase both. I'd suggest buying PC and then down the line if the community dies make the switch when it goes on sale.

I certainly hope you can find the outfits to the other Factions within the game. I wonder if they will toy with doing missions for the other Factions down the line?

Watching old Division videos and one of them reminded me that you could hop on a tablet and play as a drone.

Is this still a thing in the final game? Has Ubi said anything about it?

Is there reason to explore the Dark Zone aside from loot? Would like there to be some environmental storytelling in there

While I don't want zombie like enemies, it'd be cool if there were a few areas which have well and truly gone to shit. My favourite moments of TLoU were going through the areas with awful visibility, surrounded by decay and the mist of the fungus. Obviously it doesn't make much sense for the virus to be visible in the same way, but there could be places that evoke the same feeling of 'this mask is all that stands between me and a horrible, horrible fate'

While I was waiting for DriveClub to update last night I was cleaning out some screenshots for various games in my Gallery and found out I had taken 106 screenshots of the Division Closed Beta. Browsed through them all a few times, and now the wait for March 8th is excruciating.

I will probably only logon to Open Beta for reward. The next time I actually play the Division I want the real thing!

But judging from my time with the beta it was more rewarding to hunt down Rogues for currency and exp. Since being Rogue, and esp Lvl 5, when killed you lose lots of money and exp, so I never thought the risk was worth it.

Well, rogue bonuses were increased 1.5x. Pretty nice buff.

Yeah, I did want the DZ's to be much darker and more run-down. Sure the harder enemies and in there and also the potential of Rogue players but the overwhelming feeling that going into the DZ's is a bad idea, could be heightened.

Hopefully there is a story string that leads from the safe outer zones into the DZ, so you would have to move into the DZ to find out what really happened.

We saw one DZ zone :D

Maybe others deeper in are totally fucked?

Hopefully. :D

I like to think that the real deep DZ's are hell on earth. Everyone Rogue, all the time. Freaks roaming the streets. Very little chance of survival, even in a fairly well coordinated team.

That's where they hide the Zombies. :D

There were a couple of side missions in the closed beta were your hud showed contaminants all over the place inside of some apartments. They were just simple timed missions where you had to turn on some scanning machines and then send the data back to the medical wing of the B.O.O. But they definitely had an ominous feel and if they add some enemies to these missions in the final game, say some cleaners, it would make these side missions even better.

I think reason was that in internal testing they found out that team with drone player got huge and unfair advantage in DZ.

More likely everyone hated the second screen stuff and so they decided to scrap it. I don't think anyone enjoyed that shit in any of the games that did it. That's probably the main reason no one is doing it anymore.

That's a stupid reason to get rid of it if that's true. Really stupid.

If you're half way decent player or gamer you'll figure out how to handle a team with a drone.

My gf told me not to preorder the gold edition because she's gonna get it for me for Valentines day. She doesn't know she what she's getting herself into and how much I'm going to play even though I warned her, haha (although I was going to get the game regardless of course). I told her I would try super hard not to play when she's around ;)

Easier just to not allow it in the DZ at all.

Gold makes everything better.
She just 1up'd your gift to her :p

The Drone was OP in general. It could spot enemies, debuff enemies, attack enemies, buff allies, heal allies, and was generally immune to most damage because it's freely flying around above everything. It wasn't about the DZ alone but about content in general.

Something like that, fully controllable by someone from their tablet or smartphone is excessive.

It's easy to call it stupid, but you and I don't have access to all their data. I mean it could be just an excuse and they couldn't get it to work, but it doesn't sound that unlikely that drones could really upset the balance. Also 'half way decent' is a pretty subjective thing, the majority of players are almost by definition 'mediocre'. If a group of hardcore players use everything at their disposal including drones, then it's easy to see why that could spoil the fun for casuals and a hardcore audience by itself won't ensure commercial success.
