Played for about 3 hours and loved it , Love the sense of dread in the dark zone. Played with 3 randoms and we did a few missions. All in all its day 1 from me.

Can someone explain to me how the shooting / combat feels and plays like. What would you compare it to? Please don't say watchdogs. I want to like this but the videos are putting me off.

It feels ok. A bit like Gears, bit of Uncharted. Enemies are pretty spongy if you don't score head shots. I've only seen a few enemy types at the moment, and they love to throw gas grenades, lol. Just made it to the dark zone. Hopefully something a bit more than the run of the mill thug guys for pve in there.

I would say Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, same feeling and mechanics, but improved and refined imo.

Sorry, haven't read the thread, but is there a way to turn down the volume on the guy who comes over the radio? I have my headphone mix favoring my party chat and the volume of the radio guy is like 50x louder than everything.

Ps4 feedback so far?
Everything plays very smoothly, joining buddies is a breeze, haven't played DZ yet, but will do later.

Graphics and really good, also smoke effects etc. I compared PC/PS4 and I could see the same amount of details (as in: same items on the scene/screen).
Of course if you play on PC at 1440p and high/highest settings you can see the (big) difference, at 1080p not so much.

Nice, thanks

So, what's the equivalent to the Tower from Destiny? There should be a social gathering area. I think the devs even mentioned it.

Camp Hudson (the area where your chopper land on the start) and the safe houses are the social areas. The vendors and quest npcs are on the Base of Operations

I did the first mission (taking back the base) and then the missing persons mission and I'm kind of mixed on the game so far. Missing Persons mission was a whole bunch of running around with very minimal enemy encounters (only one that I recall). The main mission was also pretty similar to that. Gunplay seems fine to me though.

Does it pick up? I'm really wanting to like the game but so far it just comes across dull to me.

After playing for a bit, I'm liking it alot. The matchmaking system is cool for doing missions, haven't used it in the darkzone yet. Overall, I think I will pick it up on release date, seems it will be a lot to do.

Man, whenever I read the stupid "looks like a -console from last generation- game!" in a thread, this comic comes to mind

I appreciate Massive creating hairstyles for black men that actually have a good hairline. A lot of games don't offer good hairstyles so hopefully the full game us even better.

Spends 2 hours in the dark zone gets nothing but greens.

Does a simple medical event outsider the dz gets, multiple clothing,a blue gun and blue equipment..lol wasn't expecting that

Hoping for some kind of rep system separate from Rogue status for DZ. I should be able to look at a guy and see if he has a high rate of going Rogue or not, so I know whether to watch him cautiously, help him if others attack him, etc.

For example, I saw a group of 3 Rogues down the street. My group decides to pursue the Rogues. While OTW, we see a non-Rogue walking around, and someone in my group calls out to not attack this neutral player. We pass him, and he shoots the member of my group who is further behind and kills him before the rest of us can turn and help. An indication that this player goes Rogue frequently would be nice.

Another example: Two players are battling just inside of the DZ entry point. One is Rogue because he attacked first, but maybe he just got ganked a minute ago and is going for the retaliation kill. In this case the original offender no longer has Rogue status, and the retaliating player does. Helping the non-Rogue seems right, but you're actually punishing the innocent bystander who was ganked and now wants revenge. What if you attack the Rogue, and the original offender turns on you?

Some sort of rep system which gives an indication of how often a player goes Rogue would be helpful. Keep the window to the last 7 days (for example), and you give someone the chance to turn over a new leaf and drop their rep if they so choose.

I managed to get my darkzone blues from DZ rank locked (needed 10) crates in quarantined zones.

Game's alright, but I think the setting really limits the potential for loot in the game. I'm going to wait for release to see if leveling becomes less boring when everything's unlocked and if there's a decent amount of content.

Anyone on PC experiencing some severe hitching and random lockups? The game would lock up every 5 seconds while in combat out in the open world. It made the game really unplayable and would happen regardless of the graphics settings.

i5 4690k @ 3.50Ghz
GTX 970 4GB
8GB of RAM

EDIT: fixed

Same setup as you but with 16 GB ram. I've had the game hitching on me and lockup as well randomly. It doesn't happen as often as you so I still had a great time playing. My driver are updated to the latest ones from Nvidia.

My graphics are set to High/Nvidia-enabled settings and I'm getting 60fps with a few dips here and there. But otherwise the game looks pretty beautiful.

I've not found the HUD to be intrusive, especially as you can alter it. Furthermore, enemies (at least up to level 8 and even on hard) aren't really the bullet sponges people had made them out to be. I can take down 2-3 enemies (without armour) with a single clip from an assault rifle or SMG.
