The Dualsense is the most GOATed controller of all time

it is indeed the best controller right now.

I would prefer the grip and the asymmetric sticks of the Xbox controller, no need for a trackpad or speaker.

I just can't agree even if I wanted to. Battery life sucks. Dpad sucks like the PSP and they are glossy yuck. The trigger thing is cool for 5 mins then its annoying. The ergonomics feel off ever so slight. Dualshock 4 was better IMO.

The Switch Pro 2 fixes my main issue which was the dpad was awful. Damn near perfect.

I prefer the DS4 if we aren't considering the haptics. I have a strange issue where my thumbs interfere with one another when using the sticks. Still the Dpad is probably the best I've ever used and that makes it fantastic for fighting games. I dunno what Xbox is smoking with their Dpad....even on the elite where you can switch it out. Every D-pad is trash for fighting games.

If not for stick drift, it would indeed be my GOAT. Now it's the Greatest For Now. All the next dual sense needs to do is switch to hall effect and we will have perfection. I'm sure they would refine the adaptive triggers and haptics even more, but god damn, everything else feels so backward in comparison.

I have beefy man hands and even the dualsense feels too bulky for me. DS4 was just right. Those adaptive triggers piss me off and i dont think i can get used to them.

Worst ergonomics of them all. Nice face buttons, though.
LUL no. The retarded analogs placement is a big no for massive hands
It's a fantastic controller, I don't get why this triggers so many people.
They never bothered to design a proper dual analog controller, actually made for two analog sticks. They just slapped the sticks on the original PS1 pad and called it a day. And its the same design ever since.

A lot of people got used to it somehow. I personally never could, even though i had a PS2 during it's whole lifespan. The og XBOX controller (the smaller one not the tanky original) quickly became my second nature after i played with it day 1.

I like the haptics but not the triggers. Damn things just break endlessly for me. Ended up turning off the adaptive triggers at the system level.

Overall I like the controller and at its launch I felt it was the best.

But since then I've gone back to DualShock 4, the current Xbox controller, and now switch 2 pro controller and they all have their pros and cons

I found I prefer the handles of DualShock 4 ans the switch 2 pro controller more, and the ergonomics of the Xbox controller more. I like the dual sense though. It's up there and a top tier controller for sure. I like the d pad vs prior PlayStation d pads, texture on the sticks and the haptics

Unfortunatly, almost no devs do a good adaptive trigger implementation in a way that make them feel good. GT7 has to me the best implementation to the point i play better with them on. Ratched Rift Apart also had a nice implementation by making the trigger show resistance half way to use one type of ammo, and full press to the segundary attack. But for majority of the games, especially if thers shooting involved, they do a terrible implementation and i also end up turning them off for those games.

The more I play old consoles the more I realize the genesis six button, snes, and nes pads are the best.

The adaptive triggers make it so. This requires both programming in the software and the hardware on the control. It will be hard to beat by anyone who isn't a 1st party hardware vendor. I agree with the OP. Battery life sucks but who cares. Works great with huge hands like mine. I've dropped mine several times on concrete with no damage. Built in mic works great for searching things without having to type. Good controller. Due to the large rubber pads around the options and share buttons, I have noticed these buttons get stiff in extreme cold. I've had no stick drift with any of my 4-5 controllers and they all still work.

It's a pretty damn good controller, but has way too many limitations and quirks to be the greatest. Unlike a lot of people I love the size and the weight. I also get a huge kick out of the speaker, it adds another level of immersion to games that take advantage of it. It also doesn't have the dogshit Xbox shoulder buttons, which is nice. What I don't like is the abysmal battery life, good God is it terrible. I have 3 Edges and could run through all three of them before i used up 20% of the battery on one of my Elites or like 1% of a Switch Pro controller. The triggers feel super cheap and flimsy unless a developer uses the adaptive triggers, which many don't. I also cannot stand the fact that Sony won't get their head out of their asses and properly support the damn thing on PC. It's a gimped ass controller on PC, none of the functions work unless you plug it in, and even then they aren't as good as on PS5. Overall support is still lagging behind the Xbox controller, which is still basically the universal default. Even the app Sony released for PC is as barebones as possible.

So, yeah, I love the controller, but if you asked me if I could only own one controller it wouldn't be the Dualsense, and to me that eliminates it as the GOAT.

It's a great controller let down entirely by stick drift and the fact that the stick modules are not simple to replace unless you buy an Edge controller. I've gone through 3 controllers since I bought a PS5 only a few years ago, despite not being rough with them and being extra careful with them not to hurt their feelings. Every time I open up a new one I know it's going to last maybe a year or slightly longer if I'm lucky.

Adaptive triggers are fun in some games, dreadful in others (BF6 was a cunt to play with them on) and the interactivity with the controller is awesome. Astro Bot is an amazing showcase for it
