Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
Won't be able to play for awhile, whats with my cousin being on vacations from the army before deploying to South Korea.

Server issues sound bad, maybe the PTS is fucking things up?

As I come near the end of the main quest I gotta say it's a very average game.
I hit lvl 41 on my nightblade and I can't recall when was the last time I slotted in a new ability on the hotbar. I probably unlocked mostly passives near late 30s, while the actives are settled at lvl 20-30. Equipment progression is also linear. Either I stumble upon green-blue drops off mobs... or I go through each guild vendor in hubs, filtering items by level. It was very cheap to upgrade in this manner, the most expensive upgrade I recall is probably 1000 gold for a purple two hander at lvl 41.

Overall to me what killed the fun was the lack of longer hotbar available and after building around the 5 button rotation, I find no reason to swap out of it. The only exception is when I had to fight mini bosses with bigger hp bar and has damaging charge attacks. I swap to bow, shoot it a bit till 50% hp, swap back to two hander and just spam.

And the attribute spread on level up had me wondering at first, but after going all out on stamina and 10 points on Health, I see nothing wrong at all when I roam about solo.

I'm up to level 42 and have found all the zones I've been in well populated, I've had some good run throughs of the delves with other randoms it's been good, I'm on EU Ebonheart too.

So...are you in the EU guild, or have seen or heard about it?

Is it safe to assume at this point, that the EU guild is not active? I could still reroll on US server I suppose.

I am in the EU guild but to be honest i'm soloing everything, I can't have chat on at home as I play on the living room TV and the missus draws the line at that which is fair enough.

There are a lot people roaming around generally though and I have grouped up with some people when going through the Delves but i've not had the time or inclination to do any of the 4 man dungeons, I would say to see how you get on as you can always reroll if you're not enjoying it, the only thing is if you're in europe you'll have to factor in the time difference with the US players.

Right. One more question (for now).

If I would go and make a new character on the US server, and utilize my adventurer pack unlock in order to make a Nord character into a different faction (the guild was Dominion, was it?), would the story be kinda broken? Is it written in a way that having a "wrong" race in the faction makes no sense and the NPC's do not acknowledge it?

Hope I'm making any sense. I mean, I would not want to for the NPC's constantly go telling my Nord character to go and kill the filthy Nords for the glory of the Dominion or such.

I don't think the game makes any kind of distinction of what race you are in the dialogue between you and NPC's.

Both NA guilds are Daggerfall Covenant btw.

This is unfortunate, but understanding I guess for an MMO with this many races.. It's kinda weird being a Khajiit in the EP and having people make me hunt down Khajiiti slaves. I feel like I should be freeing them.

Faction > Race I guess lol

What's funny is that you start Caldwell's Silver and then even faction is thrown out the window. You just mow down waves of DC soldiers at times.

Can you still play the normal group dungeons regardless of level? I've only played 2 of the initial 3 group dungeons and am starting to get up there in level (level 31). I believe the dungeons had said they were for level 12-15. I don't mind being overpowered but would hate to miss out on the content/skill point if the game doesn't allow me to go back and do them.

Does anyone know if there is a level cap for these dungeons basically or am I free to return to them at any point?

There is no level cap on dungeons.

The only obstacle is that once you're outside the default level range for a dungeon on normal, you can't use group finder.

Also, since dungeons scale, if you want to go back and clear out the dungeons you missed on normal (as opposed to veteran), it can be easier to have a low-level player set the dungeon off.

Awesome. Thanks so much for clarifying. I guess that's why group finder has never worked for my friend and I for the other two dungeons that we did.

Ya that's what i'm doing. I finished the first 3 and then Wayrest Sewers. I've been skipping the rest until I either need some more experience or until I can find a good group to run em all.

I've run into an odd problem with logging in as well. Crashed out of the game the other day and ever since then I rarely can get past the first loading screen, the one where you pick the megaserver. Sometime though I can load to character select but if I choose the character that I was on when the crash occurred, it times out and I get a generic "Check that you have a valid internet connection" error message. What has me really confused is that I am able to log in to other characters (most of the time, sometimes I get the same error).

I sent a note to tech support and am waiting for a reply.

Still no note back from tech support, great customer service there.

I looked up the ports to forward our of desperation and found that the TCP ports they list for PS4 were not forwarded for me already (all the UDP already were). I forwarded them and was able to log in successfully and play again. It was TCP 10040-10060 that I had to add.

I just started messing around with this game since I got it cheaply a while back, and I notice we have two threads, one for consoles and one for PC. I understand why we'd want that since the servers are different, but general game discussion also seems to be split. And the console versions don't play with each other either, right?

As a new player with questions that are independent of platform, but who is playing on PC, I find myself unsure whether I should ask in here or the PC thread.

A bunch of PC players have been posting in here since the PC thread hasn't been very active.

Each console version has two separate megaservers. One for NA and one for EU. There isn't any kind of cross play between servers or consoles.

All righty. Well, as healing is my one true love in MMOs, I naturally want to do that here. I've made a Breton Templar but I find myself overwhelmed with what I should be doing with my skill points. So far, at level 5, I have puncturing sweep, breath of life, sun fire, and regeneration. I'm feeling like sun fire was probably a misstep now that I've got puncturing sweep, but I guess I use it occasionally despite the large magicka cost. I'm wearing light armor and have the restoration staff (obviously). At this point, though, I'm not sure what else to go after. I'd like to be very effective as soon as I can do my first dungeon. There just seem to be so many options. Any kind of pointing in the right direction or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's been some discussion about merging the two threads, but only a mod can do this. :)

If you pm me your character name and/or @loginid, I can send you an invite to the PC Neogaf guild for the Americas - there's also a guild for the EU players. There's only 15 people in the new PC guild so far (this is the second PC guild for NA players as the first is apparently defunct), but you will at least have the benefit of access to the guild bank, which is helpful for crap inventory like food and other crafting items. Also, if you ever feel like doing some of the group dungeons, just pm me here or whisper or email me in game (character name is Oscarx) and we can give it a try (I'm EST) - will make leveling go very fast for you as the dungeon will scale to my character's level (I'm at 48 - might be too high actually - we probably need some other people for dps if you want to do this, although, as previously stated, you'd be able to level your healing quite fast).

I just started playing yesterday and wouldn't mind starting over. What faction is the American GAF pc guild in?

We're not faction specific and the Neogaf guild is pretty evenly divided at this point - there are 6 Ebonheart, 5 Daggerfall, and 4 Aldmeri. Group dungeons are not limited to a specific faction, although the game world only opens up the non-dungeon areas of the other factions that you're not a member of after you finish the main quests of your own faction. Note, you can always port to any dungeon anywhere in the game regardless of where it is via the group tab or any waypoint, but you can't travel there by foot/horseback if it's not in your faction's territory. More here about this. I think people in the PC guild are mostly concentrated on getting through the sp content right now, but I'm up for group dungeons whenever anyone feels like it and I'm not in the middle of a quest (I'm level 48 though, which may lead to problems in group dungeons if your character is particularly low leveled). Just pm here or whisper/email me in game (character name is Oscarx) and I'll send you a guild invite if you're interested.

I just got the game today for X1. I started off with a Nord DK, Ebonheart Pact, US server. I don't have many friends who play this so a guild invite would be appreciated.

The NA Guild is primarily Daggerfall Covenant, but we have many members that are Ebon as well. We would not be able to group together, but you could still use the guild bank and guild store.

Let me know if you still want an invite.

Check out Deltia's omega templar leveling build. It's what I used to level with but I was also able to heal all the dungeons with it as well. I switched over to his end game healing build when I hit VR1. Solid dps and very solid healing. He even shows videos on how the mechanics work.

I am playing on PC. Apparently there's a GAF guild on PC but I haven't joined them. I'm still learning the game my way.

Regarding the thread split, I've been addressing this issue for a while as well. Console versions don't play with each other anyway, so PC players should be able to join this thread as well or just merge both threads.

I'm level 10 currently, going for tank build for my templar to solo leveling content.

For people in the PC NA guild, if you're wondering why the guild bank has fewer items in it, I ran the Roomba addon to stack items with multiples as we were getting close to the max in the guild bank of 500 items (think we were at 450). In any case, the addon did its job and after all the duplicate items were stacked, we're down to 212-ish items.

Thanks for the advice. I checked it out and I don't think it's really my particular playstyle, but there were some pretty helpful tips near the end about gear and stuff. If only I had the kind of money he has!

Well now I'm experiencing why people say the game's combat is shit. Attacks missing because your enemy isn't in your reticle, abruptly not being able to switch weapons, etc.

Well as a follow up I reset my router and since then have played several hours with no disconnects, so I guess that was my issue. Weird.

I read on the official forums that most people get it via "NPC grocers in VR zones and Coldharbour" - hope that helps!

OK. Thanks. I'll go check and see how much it is. It's basically my main provisioning ingredient now.

Edit: I have checked Coldharbour and Aldmeir Dominion and haven't found any flour at grocers. I still have to check Ebonheart, but AD isn't making me hopeful. :/

That unlocks at level 15.

Yeah, I already have that. But apparently if you're locked into a certain animation you can't switch.

Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

Yeah but then you get to fight enemies like those Ice Wraiths.

With that said I prefer it when I swing my sword, I actually hit something that comes in contact with the swing animation, like in the old TES games or in GW2.

Do you mean the Alliance bases?

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/08/...s-the-imperial-city-gets-new-info-screenshots

Regarding alliance bases, the Aldmeri Dominion base can be located beneath the Arboretum and Temple Districts, which is on the east side on the Imperial Sewers. If you’re Daggerfall, then you can find solace underneath the Elven Gardens and Noble Districts (that’s on the west side of the Imperial Sewers). And finally, Ebonheart Pact members will find their base below the Arena and Memorial Districts, on the north side of the Sewers.

What will each of the Bases contain? By the look of it, each Alliance base comes equipped with everything you’d find in a main city. That includes:

A Banker that offers normal banking functions, and Tel Var Stone deposits (50 at a time)
Basic crafting stations
A cooking fire
A crafting style merchant
A dye station
A general goods merchant
A lockbox merchant where you can buy randomized set pieces
Tel Var Stone merchants (weapons, armor, and crafting components)
The Drake of Blades will appear there when you first begin your journey in the Imperial City
