The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn |OT| Did you think you were the only one?

Yeah, it's an .exe called SBW or something. You can run it from any location, either before or after starting up the game. Once in-game, press ctrl-enter. Obviously you'll want to set windowed mode in video options at startup.

There's a few different ways to do it. I actually forgot how I did it, but it's different than yours. :lol

So I came back to Skyrim after a long break (basically haven't played since about 6month post release). I bought Dragonborn during the Steam Sale and I want to go through that.

What would be the must have mods I should be installing? I already have a couple of cosmetic stuff and I don't necessarly want to go all out crazy like the stuff we see in the Screenshot thread but hey, I have a powerfull machine so I want it to be pretty.

The mods I have right now

SkyUI
PureWaters
Lockpicking Measurment Vision
Unread Book Glow
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Lush Grass
All the Town and Villages Enhanced mods

So, any suggestions?

Thanks!

There's a great mod on the Steam workshop called Better Enemy AI (or something similar), it does pretty much what you think. Enemies will block more, attack when they see an opening much more frequently, archers will try to maintain a distance instead of taking you on in melee, etc.

So, been getting back into Skyrim for the past few weeks. Pretty heavily modded graphically but vanilla game play for the most part. Loving every second of it. Finished Dawngaurd which was a surprise to be how meaty and fantastic it was.

Just started Dragonborn and loving it as well, nostalgia overload from Morrowind.

That said, all the sudden I am getting a TON of CTD's. Like one every several minutes. Making it hard to enjoy at this point. Common issue? Fixes? Known Mod conflicts?

I have the Unofficial Skyrim and Unofficial Dragonborn patches installed via NMM.

Mod conflict maybe? I dunno, CTD's can be caused by pretty much anything.

This game was a really good choice to test out my new PC. Looks great and runs supersmooth, even with the high quality texture pack.

So far I'm really enjoying this game. I'm playing as a Breton mage (Conjuration + Destruction), kinda cool you get a melee follower pretty early in the game so I can use Lydia as the tank, something that slightly eluded me from playing mage characters in Oblivion. I just wish she had more personality.

Fighting dragons is awesome, I hope there are going to be friendly ones to interact with too. Stunning pieces in the soundtrack too, especially this one. Love the nature and snowy mountains setting (I never fast travel), yet to set a foot in the western areas. Throat of the World was awesome to visit. Saw some weird shit already (I swore I could see a headless horseman)

Only thing I'm not feeling is the quest journal structure. My miscellaneous list is growing beyond proportions and I'm already forgetting the context of the earlier ones. Some of the activities are a bit flimsy too. (why would I chop wood for money? I'm an adventurer, so let us adventure!)

Pretty odd how a I saw a random citizen dead with a Vampire though. Don't know if that's a bug or what.

Guys? It happened again.

well
several times later after skyrim, i managed to wrap up main quest and dlc..
been a long run, not bad, not exceedingly good..
can't say i'm still a lover for long-dragged game at this point...

about 35ish hours into the game, and I'm loving it. Skyrim has huge problems, and is the start of the end of The Elder Scrolls game, but, I confess I love the game so far.

Shit, this game keeps on giving randomness. Decided to Legendary make Block skill, and head to a trainer to help me get it back up more quickly.

Only afterwards did I find out that there's only two trainers in the game. One of them doesn't train you unless you join the Companions, and the other is an Orc chief.

An Orc chief who got wiped out, along with his entire stronghold, by an ancient dragon in my game. :lol

You're on PC now right? If you really wanted to, you could probably resurrect that Orc chief through the console.

Yeah, but dead is dead. :D

So I just farmed the shit out of some Frost Troll wailing at me for twenty minutes. Bumped my block up from 20 to 60.

Whatchu mean, "this time?"

Yeah, killed him, but not before he wiped out the entire Orc stronghold, including the aforementioned Block trainer. :lol
That's how I felt when I tried to kill an ancient dragon.

Though I was like at level 30-ish, so that explains it. lol these guys are not fooling around are they?

First time I encountered one at level 30, same here. Did a write-up on that a bit earlier. With that Deadly Dragons mod installed, dragons are actually... Well, deadly.

For some reason though, Ancient Dragons are putting up a better fight than the Revered Ones.

Okay this is weird, I'm playing on pc with million mods and my fps has always tanked in Riften and Morthal swamps.

Yesterday I read about Win 7 core parking feature, and tried unparking my 2500k cores, eventhough internet said it would only help hyperthreading processors.

Nevertheless my fps now stays at 60 in earlier mentioned places. Has enyone else tried it with similar results, or am I going crazy?

i am thoroughly impressed with this dlc.
it took me about 2 days to do practically all there was to do in dawnguard. i expected the same with dragonborn, but it's been 2 weeks and still i've yet to finish the main quest on account of everything there is to do.
but no control of the dragon riding, bethesda? c'mon, that was a given.

Got a little something:

Apparently the Steam code delivered within also contains digital copies of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, but I already own those on Steam, just wanted the disc versions. So I'll probably get rid of the code.

I finally started this. I have a question about houses (purchased ones) can I store a bunch of troll skulls on a table, or do they have to be inside a container to be safe?

They should be safe inside your house, but occasionally the physics engine can crap out and send them flying.

Ok, cool. I wish things were easier to arrange. I spent time positioning some skulls, and then knocked them all over the place trying to place another one, lol.

Do the cupboards have limits? The only one I have seen that maxes out yet are the book shelves.

They usually do, but the limit is pretty high up. The game will start slowing down before it actually tells you "THERE'S ENOUGH SHIT IN HERE ALREADY".

If you're playing on PC, there's a few mods that make exhibiting items easier, I think, but I haven't tried them myself. Already running over 170 of them as it is. :D

You can take your time carefully placing items if you like, but be aware that there's a secret guild in the game they don't tell you about that sends NPC's to slightly mess up your decorations whenever you're away for a while.

I've found a way to keep items where you place them, but you have to do it twice. I think it initially saves your drop position, but if it's moved twice it will save it placed position. All the items I ha e done that with have stayed so far.

I just got the werewolf ability, and soon after the mission to cure it. Will I lose out on any wolf specific quests if I cure it right away?

Also, I am finally in on the arrow to the knee joke, lol. I laughed when I heard it the first time, and wasn't sure if it was referencing an earlier joke from somewhere else, or the joke itself. The ironic part is I picked this game up while I am recovering at home from knee surgery. I didn't play skyrim, and then I took an arrow to the knee...

Aside from the quests you probably just finished, I can't think of any other specific quests where you need that ability
though maybe Hercine's quest? I don't know what happens if you attempt that after having been cured
.

Apparently "taking an arrow in the knee" actually is an old Norse saying for getting married.

You can do Hircine's quest whether you're a werewolf or not.

Man, searching for 30 crimson nirnroot quest sucks! Took me like 2 hours of just wandering around to find them all :/

Did you know Nirnroot only grows near water? It never took me that long.

Then again, it might've, time seems to disappear when I'm playing this game.

yeah, I looked up everything I could to help out. Clairvoyance USED to work on this quest, then they patched it. I ended up just wandering around aimlessly until I bumped into another plant. Once I had most of them, it was really hard to find the last few spots that weren't harvested. I even tried waiting ten days like someone recommended, but they didn't respawn. I am not sure if that requires leaving and coming back again, or what, so in the end I just wandered around and eventually found 30, saved and went to sleep way later than I wanted to.

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
God, I love Serana.. she's awesome.

I wanna marry her.

Its actually a little random that you can't since you can enter a lot of dialogue about how important she is to you and such, but the only time you can mention it (which I think is during one quest) the game won't let you. Not sure if this is because they didn't want her to have the generic marriage dialogue or what.

I just have my built house in Falkreath have a ton of people in it haha. I use Serana as a follower, Ysolda as wife and Lydia as Steward plus the adopted kids (I just need to get the other housecarl from Falkreath Thanehood). I think Ysolda's starting to wonder why I keep bringing this vampire lady home with me.

I wish there was an easy way to transfer stuff between houses, like hire a carriage or something. I have all my stuff stockpiled at breezehome, and i own much bigger houses elsewhere, but the hassle of moving stuff sort of keeps me forced to keep my home base as is.

I finished the main quest last night
I decided not to kill Paarthunax, he seemed like too cool of an old dragon to reduce him to a physics skeleton. The blades can eat it. So far it's the only choice that I morally chose not to follow through with. Plus it's so cool to see him perched at the throat of the world.

Gotta ask if anyone plays on a system comparable to mine:
Intel Core i5-2450M, nVidia GT630M, 6GB RAM, Win7 64-bit

And how does the game perform? Basically something that's a bit more than minimum specs.

The Legendary Edition sale on Steam is attractive but i don't know how well my laptop can run the game, especially with a few mods on top of the base game.

Bought Skyrim LE for PC a couple of days ago and made quick test with high settings and it worked fine.
Well, finally got to tweak it a bit more and... It runs surprisingly well. Dropped the AA and slightly lowered shadows and tweaked distances to gain a bit steadier frame rate.
Looks good enough, better than on Xbox (higher resolution is probably the biggest thing).
Not gonna add any high-rez textures nor ENB shaders, don't think i can run those with decent framerate without sacrificing resolution. Besides, i don't really like ENB shaders, they look kind of "fake" in screenshots.

Playing with 360 controller by the way, this neat "mod" makes controller very usable too. Normally you can't quick save with 360 controller enabled.

But now i wonder.. play the game once, with all DLC and unofficial patches, or do i mod it right away? Haven't ever played Dragonborn DLC so...
As for mods, i'll probably have to do my own overhaul, haven't seen one i like so far. Has anyone compiled a list of overhaul mods? SkyRe, Requiem, etc.? Before starting my own, i probably should check major ones out first.
