Is there any way to swap the camera between shoulders?
Also, half the time I am in a bush, I can't see anything due to the bush obscuring the camera, and the only way to see anything is to move myself out of a bush. Is there some technique to using vegetation cover?
You can disarm your own, but not enemy ones.. for story reasons I think. Game mechanics/story spoilers:
Every time I've triggered a trap, the lightning changed to blue-ish, and a camera (connected to the main antagonist?) went off somewhere, usually along with an enemy charging me.
. I've tried chugging bottles at those snare traps but I don't think you're supposed to be able to disarm them. Only in chapter 3 though, maybe someone else can chime in.
edit: Beaten, see post above.
edit2: Might as well try asking one more time: How do I stun enemies for the kick ability I purchased with gel? Knee-shot, or do I stun them with the crossbow? Thanks a ton in advance!
Maybe. I never bothered using it, it shoots 3 bullets at a time, I can usually get a kill in 2 or 3 bullets. You get a better (imo) pistol in chapter 3 off a corpse.

Yeah IMO the burst pistol is a waste because it uses too much ammo and the enemies move quickly enough that you aren't going to get more than 1 headshot off a burst. I never use it.
The English voice acting isn't terrible but I'm enjoying the story much more after switching to French voice acting. As an English speaker I think it fits really well. I recommend trying French or whatever language you prefer if the English voice acting isn't doing it for you.

Reminds me of when I played Lost Odyssey in German, actually contributed a lot to the mythic high-fantasy atmosphere.
Speaking of little changes that enhance atmosphere, I'll admit I was actually a big fan of the anamorphic black bars in the first game...gave it a cool visual identity, since barely any games use 2:35:1. Wish there was an option to bring it back.
This is music to my ears. Played the first 5 chapters and apart from bosses, the whole game reminded me of Alan wake rather than TEW.... looking forward to the rest of the game.
I don't know if its just NG being hard as shit until youre upgraded, but I'm on chapter 4, survival difficulty, and this game is fucking MURDERING me. And I loved TEW1, finished it like 4 times. But this seems crazy difficult. Those god damn enemies that are like a clicker from Last of Us crossed with the L4D witch fucking wreck me, you cant even sneak kill them. And the Pistol just seems weak as shit and the enemies move so much lining up headshots on them is impossible.
Its a great game so far but god damn ive had some seriously annoying combat moments

I haven't finished the second half but so far It is 100% a reverse of the first game. The beginning is more "escape the zombie apocalypse" shootbang. As the game progresses it seems to funnel into more and more linear psychological horror setpieces.
I think that works for the most part, but one big problem is that as the game funnels in, you start to miss some of the freedom you had earlier.
On the other hand, so far it nails the "descent into madness" angle more than the first game, which was more "you're in madness at the beginning and things don't get better."
I didn't, I mean CH 3/7 took up about 7 out of 17 hours of playtime combined, by the time I was done, I was done with open-world, and welcomed the linearity.
Guys I'm sorry for asking this again but I can't figure out how to stun enemies for the "Push Kick" ability. I tried Shock Bolts, but that makes the enemies hit the floor - which is nice since it let's me stomp 'em, but it doesn't let me kick them. I have yet to use this kick ability which I've been told is really good.
section. The map seemed to go bonkers after that. Tons of enemies everywhere, and now
Guardian Laura
is chasing me around the town, too. I just don't have the ammo to deal with all this crap, and there's so much bullshit that I can't sneak around. I tried to save that
Mobius Operative too
, but I died halfway through that because I was just out of ammo. Is there like a hidden back road that I can take to try to stealth around and sneak up on these jobbers?
I'm only three chapters in but so far there's no way this is better than the first Evil Within for me. It isn't tense/scary at all and it just drags. And man, if Sebastian says "What the hell" one more damn time. Keep in mind, I don't hate the game at all, and I've a lot left to play, but right now it's just a pale imitation of the original.

I just ignored those enemies, they take way too many bullets to kill and pulling off the stealth kill is too dangerous.
I have pretty much everything I want maxed out on the skill trees so it's not like I need the gel anyway. On Survivor you get an insane amount of gel (not sure what the payout is like on Nightmare), By the end of Chapter 3 I think I could've upgraded nothing else and been fine for the entire rest of the game so far.

Gets progressively scarier as it goes along, not at the level of the first game yet, but getting there. I felt the same way about the earlier sections, with a few good sequences being the exceptions.

The game sadly never gets as good as first, but it does become pretty good. Find the shotgun and the rifle, and power through CH3-7. Afterwards it should get better.
firstperson stealth section? Like why? We already have ton of games that give you that experience and way better than this.
Hopefully that was the only one.
Really don't like this game controls. The quickturn just fucks me over every single time and I actually turn 360 degrees making me totally lose all sense of direction. I wish this game controlled like the first.

Up to chapter 6 so far and I'm loving it, it's similar but different to TEW and I'm really enjoying it. Playing this with m/kb and combat's great, having a blast with it. I completely understand what folks are saying about the enemies moving fast because when they spot you fuck me they are all up in your face. But I haven't found them too troubling just yet (this is on Survival, I'll do Nightmare another time)
Also when it comes to skills is it just me or is the
Push Kick
skill prompt not working/not coming up ? I haven't had the fucking thing work yet for me.
Looks like you really have to pick and choose skillwise, currently I'm
saving up for the slow mo skill and I've upgraded my stamina and stealth to crouch walk faster. Getting my stamina up as high as possible as the slowmo skill uses it so planning on maxing those if possible
Played through the first two chapters last night. I went into this pretty much blind as I didn't want to spoil anything to the sequel of the best game on PS4. Not sure why people thought the game started slow. Chapter 2 was fantastic and surely foreshadowed awesome encounters to come. Really loved the sequence where I was running down the hall
away from sawblade lady and then at the other end of the hall picture dude appeared
. I was like fuuuuuuuuuckkkk! Simply awesome. Not really digging the performance from Sebastian's new VA, hopefully he gets better. Loving the vibe so far though. Gotta wait until nightfall to play more though haha.

I assume by "start" they mean Chapter 3, when the game opens up.
I did some side quests, and had fun, but it can get a bit too diluted, especially compared to the absurd pace of the first game (which, however, also had its slowest chapters at the start).
Still chugging through chapter 4. I'm finding that engaging, running away and then going back to stealth kill everything is a viable strategy, even if it takes a little bit.

Yo, same issue! I got some great tips in one of the posts early in the thread (and I'm really grateful for those tips!). One of said tips was to grab the Push Kick skill but I have never gotten it to trigger. Even if I shoot the enemy so that it looks "stunned" (or at least disoriented). Using Shock Bolts zaps them to the ground and enables you to stomp. But that kick doesn't seem to work - at least not for me.
Other people reported issues with the "Predator" skill, so heads up guys.
I was skeptical of the hub town but after playing 5 hours last night, it grew on me. On Nightmare difficulty, the town feels threatening and Im scared to engage more than one enemy at a time. Sometimes it feels like trial and error because how quickly you die but the difficulty feels just right so far. I love the sense of relief I feel after surviving an encounter, just like the first game. I thought Id hate the side quests but the first green one wasnt pretty good and took me to a lot of interesting locations. I also keep tuning into some woman
freaking out over some ghost
and its freaking me out. Ill probably do that quest next.
My only complaints so far are no matches, the bottle radius sucks ass, and I miss the freeze and flash bolts. It also seems like you cant lay the shock bolt like a trap in this game which kinda sucks.
God damn it, I'm falling to the same pattern of gameplay as the first game. "walk a bit collecting stuff and killing enemies, go back to the save room, repeat". Barely made any progress XD
Maybe I should lower the difficulty, but the fact that you can't raise it again is annoying.
Usually if a PC game releases close to the console versions it's a good indication of general sales. Even at worst case scenarios it's like a quarter of total games sales.

One aspect I really like about the game is that stealth gameplay is dynamic and fluid. I love a game designed around stealth, but one of the big pitfalls of even the best stealth game is once you are detected, you're pretty much screwed. In this, you can usually run away, hide, then work with the new positions of the enemies to plan a new attack plan.
The risk reward loop works very well, not punishing you with a reload but forcing you into new and sometimes more compromising scenarios once your initial plan falls apart.
And Resident Evil has a juggernaut of a brand name backing it up. TEW2 is going to be a word-of-mouth title, especially since the marketing campaign was so shit.
