Logic tells me that it's using the mics to get the general direction of your TV but it's still a little mind blowing.

My bedroom TV is on a swivel so I turned my TV in a completely different direction to confuse it , it seemed that it was going to throw it off track but soon as I paused & unpaused Astro Bot the onscreen controller became completely aligned with my controller again.


Edit: it's just recentering it's self whenever you start or pause a game knowing that you will most likely be pointing at the TV when you start the game.

If programed to do so it probably could but it would have to be something on your keychain that can be remotely triggered to send out sound.

It's actually just recentering it's self & using the fact that you're most likely looking at the TV when you start a game . So it's not using the mics

I don't have that problem I have charging stations, extra controllers , a Portal , USB-c battery packs & long USB C cables ,

Why would you let your controller go dead when so many products use USB-C?

Nobody's debating whether you can charge a controller, hes talking about how annoying it is that the battery dies so often in the first place. You could have fifty USB-C cables and a solar powered charging station strapped to your back, it doesn't change the fact that the DualSense battery life is mediocre at best.

Bragging about accessories doesn't magically make the battery better

It's not detecting the TV but using common knowledge that most people are looking at their TV when they start a game a game so it's recentering it's self whenever you start or pause a game . If you point the controller in the wrong direction & pause or start a game it will be off track.

I'm not bragging about accessories I'm telling you why I never had the problem of my DualSense dying on me while I was gaming & if it did I could just plug it up & continue.

So many products use USB-C now that it should be a USB C plug in reach of you.

There really is chairs,beds & other furniture made with USB ports on them now a controller going dead really can't be the tragic some people try to make it out to be.

If it is a problem for you why not get a simple USB-C battery pack?

The thing to do is really test it. Don't stop at a 90° turn, unpause with it reversed and pointing at the ceiling.

I guess just to make the use of the features seamless without calibration.

The calibration happens when you start or pause the game so if you're pointing the controller in the wrong direction when you pause & unpause it will be off track.

It's using the fact that you will most likely will be sitting in front of the TV when you start or pause the game.

Huh? It was someone trying to troll who brought up the battery & I just pointed out that I don't have that problems because I keep my controller charged & have backups

Bringing up the DS battery life isn't trolling. It's a legitimate point of criticism considering its price. Your method of swapping between two controllers to manage battery life is like plugging a Switch directly into the wall and then arguing its battery performance is amazing. It's not the typical user experience.
