Just saw it in a regular IMAX screen. Loved it for the most part - the action, the characters, and the humor were all great.

Main issue it has I think is runtime. Felt like this could have been a 90 minute film. Almost every action scene could have been cut in half and had twice the impact.

Also I enjoyed the meta perspective but I wonder if that's getting old for audiences.

Well as for the modern theme song:

Taking the wife to see this tomorrow. First real "date night" type film we've gone to in quite some time. Hope we see more of this stuff, they are rarely very good (Lost City, Argylle, etc) but they can keep trying and maybe we'll get another Romancing the Stone every now and again.

Saw this Thursday on IMAX and enjoyed it a lot. Smart funny bits and some good action. If you liked Bullet train, I think you’ll like this. Soundtrack was solid. maybe the meta could’ve been toned down a bit and could have been tighter.

The running time and meta seemed OK to me. 🤷‍♂️

As for the theme, in the context of the movie, I'm warming to it.

I liked this quite a lot. The RIDICULOUS use of stuntwork for everything was great, seeing so many practical stunts was awesome. Sooooo many movie/camera jokes with the overuse of mirrored sunglasses, the whole split screen bit, the super tight cutaway editing followed by really languid long shots, the music cues and sound effects, it's all just so good. Those gunshots rolling across the water while the Miami vice theme plays...fucking chefs kiss.

I wonder if it's coincidence or deliberate that the movie in the movie is such a parody of Snyders Rebel Moon. And hey, this director knows how to measure out slo-mo!

The best part of this movie was their generous use of KISS in the soundtrack.
Movie itself is decent, had it's slow parts, Emily and Ryan are beautiful people, which carries alot of this movie haha...

They played that trailer before the film in my theater.

And how the hell is Lee Majors looking better than Heather Thomas??? Damn she looked like bad wax mannequin.

It's getting a digital release tomorrow:

"The Fall Guy Digital Release Date Set for Extended Cut With 20+ Minutes

Universal Pictures has announced The Fall Guy digital release date for its latest action comedy, starring Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. This comes after less than a month since the film had made its theatrical debut. Despite receiving positive reviews, it wasn’t able to meet box office expectations, with a current worldwide gross of over $127 million at the box office against a reported budget of around $120-150 million.

The Fall Guy will be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting tomorrow, May 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The home video release will also include an exclusive extended cut with over 20 minutes worth of never-before-seen footage."

I'm retarded?
It must have bombed HARD!

Yeah it certainly has. Im pretty sure it was not what people expected the movie to be so word of the mouth prolly didnt go so well. I certainly didnt recommend the movie to my friends. It's cool and all, but Bullet Train is like light years ahead in entertainment.

I guess I will watch it this week at home.

The Fall Guy seemed okay from the one trailer I watched. Apparently, it's a fun movie, but it's not performing very well in theatres. That sucks.

I was considering heading to the movies this weekend to see it, but I'm unsure if I want to spend any money on going to the movies right now, even less so with an extended cut getting a digital release.

It shoulda done 300-400 mill just off Gosling and Barbie fever.

I liked it a lot. Great date night flick, everyone should rent it. We should want more movies like this.

I used to really dislike Gosling, and he's been on such a roll lately it's completely flipped my opinion on him.
I wish the movie had been a little more true to the old series, but man it was fun.. I'm actually looking forward to watching it again..
Really sucks that it did not perform better.. hopefully it picks up a lot of traffic on streaming.

I waited until late into it's run to see it.. and my theater was 100% full, it made me think word of mouth had made it pick up steam but it seems while it did get a boost.. not as big as I had hoped for.

Movie was a lot of fun, I would recommend a rental. Great music, I say it is great acting, and you can almost feel how much acting people are doing.

I missed my chance to see it in theaters... Currently unemployed but making do with the basics of living right now ... When I'm able to get work again, I'm ON IT! Gonna get my Regal Pass again!

Probably doesn’t need the extra 20.
Yeah, I agree, though the "main plot" such as it is, probably could use some fleshing out. So much time is spent on elaborate, and largely unnecessary, however fun, stunt setpieces and "behind the camera" stuff that the actual murder mystery gluing it all together is quite haphazard. But I don't really care, I'm glad they had that ridiculous sword fight, the drug fight, the miami vice fight, the dumpster fight, all that, instead of Gosling gumshoeing his way around Sydney. If 20 minutes gets me to care about the bad guys a bit more I guess its ok.

It is definitely a movie about how great making movies is. Self congratulatory.

"Rebel Moon", wasn't it?

"See you later, Space Cowboy..."

"Mah Man, yeah!"

I thought it looked like Rebel moon as well, but it was a lot better than Rebel Moon.

Got tickets for this weekend. It’s still playing three times a day over here, it’s wild to me that they released it digitally already.

Gotta support my boy.

I really love how this movie is a multi million dollar “fuck you” to one of the biggest stars in Hollywood who claims to do their own stunts, directed by a former stuntman who knows the truth. He even cast a former love interest of this star who was in a sci-fi movie about an alien battle in the desert as a director of a sci-fi alien battle movie in a desert.

Holy shit is that true?

Seems like there is plenty of set shots of cruise doing his own crazy stunts nit funny if true.
I took the film as mocking "I do most of my own stunts" actors in general, not the Cruise missile in particular.

Jackie Chan stopped doing his own stunts with First Strike, but he allowed the myth to live on for years later. Other myths won’t die until death-bound NDAs expire.

Aren't there behind the scenes footage of all the bloopers for his flicks through the 2000s though? Even those silly western ones had them IIRC. Maybe he stopped doing stuff like falling 3 stories or jumping from moving cars, but at 50 or whatever I totally understand it.

Ummm .. he was doing his own stunts AFTER First Strike, if I'm not mistaken. He has a whole team and Jackie STILL does his own stunts unless his body won't allow him to. Then a member of his stunt team will do it. Or they both do it and go with the best take.

This sucked.

The action scenes were fine, but the plot and romance stuff were awful.

The literal point of him going back was to win her back because he is obsessed with her. He gets back to her and SHE is sad he left and missed him etc, she pours her heart out to him multiple times and he just sits there lol. I dont get it

This movie was good. Not great, not incredible, just good. Perfect movie for a casual Saturday evening.

It was funny, the stunts were cool, it looked nice, good soundtrack, my boy Gosling carrying this entire movie on his back.

The whole movie is basically one big love letter / homage to stuntmen and their hard work, typically going unrecognized. Half of what happens is stunts for the sake of stunts, because it looks cool. They even point out very specifically at one point that there is no Oscar category for stunts and how ridiculous that is.

Only issue I had was that it was probably 15 minutes too long. And that the trailer spoiled literally every action sequence in the movie. Surprising amount of downtime, I expected more action.

Also - the Dune spoof was amazing.
