The Flash is Rumored to Erase the SnyderVerse

Bin it all off. WB can't compete with the Marvel juggernaut and should do their own thing rather than copy what the competition are doing.

As evidenced by their hopeless attempts at universe building with the previous films they've released.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
While I don't think what Snyder was doing was particularly great, their ideas of how to replace it sounds even worse than letting it hobble along. All of the rumors and confirmed items in production or pre-production all sound horrific.

Yeah but uhm....does that mean...he removes himself as well as wonder woman and Aquaman? They are part of the Snyder Universe lmfao. Fuck DC I guess.

Wonder Woman is Gal Gadot and Aquaman is the DCEU's only $1 billion franchise, so no.

Why they just didn't let those two have their own trilogies, let Cavill have his trilogy, have Pattinson in his, and do the same for the other major DC characters is beyond me.

Instead we've got this convoluted, pathetic attempt to ret-con everything, just like a comic book Crisis event, which nobody is going to like.

WW3 is happening. Aquaman 2 is in December. Pretty sure he’ll get a third too.

Shazam is kind of a trilogy too with Black Adam and Shazam 2.

But no Superman, no decent stand alone Flash, no GL, no Cyborg etc.

There should be solo film series planned for all these and more… but instead we’re getting another mashed up ‘event’ movie that nobody wants.

They continue to over complicate and under develop in their constant attempt to catch up to whatever Marvel are doing.

The fact we’re actually looking at a cinematic universe with no Superman or Batman is laughable.

Thank god Matt Reeves insisted on steering completely clear of it all.

I think WB has always had the stance that there be only one Batman and one Superman be it on TV or movies. Back when Cavill was still Superman, the Berlanti-verse was VERY limited to what they could do with Superman in the Supergirl series.

I think they're going to let Battison be Batman and I think they're extremely happy with Superman & Lois being the Superman.

Then they’re fools. To waste one of the greatest superhero characters of all time in a low budget tv show most people don’t watch, instead of having him in his own film series is insane.

Honestly Superman & Lois has the best production quality of any DC show ever. Even more than the DC Universe stuff like Titans and Doom Patrol. The show looks like something HBO would produce, which is probably why HBO Max was airing the first season as it premiered.

Oh, I'm not saying it's a bad product, but can you imagine the only presence of Spider-man in the MCU being a TV show on Hulu? Because that's what we're talking about here.

They're clowns. Have been for a decade. Literally the only good move they've made recently is handing Batman over to Reeves.

At least Matt Reeves looks like he has an idea on where to take Batman and how to execute it (based on those pretty awesome trailers)

Having jj abrams masterminding the dcu is just not something I see me wanting to watch (after the mess that was Star Wars, I mean they practically ended a franchise, that shouldn’t or couldn’t be ended. it was practically solid gold at the box office and beloved by a generation with money to spend)

I guess it will be a bunch of very loosely linked movies, with stuff that seems
Interesting but goes nowhere. Questions that are posed but have no answers and changes to lore and the characters history. Not to modernise, or update. Just ‘cause’.

So again. Dc or Warner brothers, want their cake but don’t want to do the leg work in building worlds, stories and connecting with the audience. They just want to move straight to the point that took Marvel over a decade of almost constant success and little changes to what worked, or didn’t and lost importantly. An audience that bought into where the individual movies were going and what they were building (now see that getting done in the tv series)

Not looking forward to any of this. Beyond Batman I guess

Seems in line with how the DC suits think Superman should be treated. 👀

This particular story was written by John Ridley who was responsible for the screenplay of 12 Years a Slave and the reboot of Ben-Hur.

Part of the story was the retelling of certain events from "World's Finest" from another point of view and he felt the need to add the rape for some reason. 👀

The fact that no one at DC took one look at that, and didn’t shit can it immediately, shows what they think of the characters they have in their IP. The absolute embarrassment that oozes out of them about owning Superman is almost tangible.

It's embarrassing how these comic executives bend over backwards to accommodate screenwriters/novelists who have zero idea about how to write the characters.

How incompetent do you have to be to waste superman, batman, justice league etc?
With any intelligent writers behind these properties they should be billion dollar movies.

Hollywood and intelligence are incompatible with each other. JJ Abrams is the biggest hack in the industry that continues to fail upwards because of his connections and the brainless morons who watch the absolute garbage products he creates. DC is doomed to complete mediocrity now, at least Snyder had the balls to create unique and often memorable characters, situations and stories despite his shortcomings.

I’m not surprised, given that the idiots at Warner Bros actually greenlit the script and production for The Matrix Resurrections.

And goddamn JJ Abrams continues to fuck up every single established franchise he comes into contact with.

I hope we get a stand alone Keaton film directed by Tim Burton. Wonder who Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter will play.

That MyTimeToShineHello person has been relatively reliable with their Marvel stuff, and people are corroborating this. It also explains why Michael Keaton, and not Affleck, is the Batman in the Batgirl movie.
What the fuck is this shit? WB are truly specialists in failures.

Lol, imagine owning the rights to 2 of the most well known and liked superheroes ever and being like "what if we reboot our franchise without them".

Then again regardless of characters this was always going to suck with JJ in charge.

Oh it gets even better.

WB really wants JJ Abrams to direct the Justice League Rebirth movie (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Shazam, Supergirl, Batgirl, Black Canary) with the writer of Birds of Prey and The Flash to write it.

Booting the two most popular characters from the team, getting a director and especially writers like these sounds like a winning strategy.

The DCU has been absolutely horrible, so I don't blame them for giving it another shot.
You can't deny, though, that this still reeks of "catching-up-itis."

The entire concept of a DCU was such an obvious reaction to the MCU, and the planning for such an event was sub-par, at best.
Every single DC movie feels like a cop-out compared to nearly any Marvel movie, simply because the MCU was planned out ahead of time, whereas the DCU is an obvious mish-mash of ideas.

It doesn't even matter how good the movies are in isolation, because the overall-terrible universe completely eradicates any possible qualities of the individual movies.
It's like every single movie in the entire franchise is the last season of Game of Thrones: It doesn't matter how good the previous seasons were, because the finale completely ruins every single that was ever set up.

And that's a pretty darn bad look for the DCU, because the MCU movies are passable, at best.

This is counter to what the director Andy Muschietti said about his movie The Flash...

Hard to find the quote but he said something to the effect of everything that happened still happened and exists... Something like that.

Snyder’s Justice League I can agree with, but MoS top tier? It went on for too long with not much happening. It was okay, but nowhere near as good as you’re implying.
The runtime is the least of its problems, if you securitize Superman's decisions it becomes clear he has a lot of blood(and even genocide) on his hands, things that damage his character and that can't be explained away with "it was his first day on the job".
