The game releases sure dried up..

After a spectactular Jan-April, suddenly all the game releases seem to have stopped.. Not much worth mentioning has come out after Forza. Advent Rising is coming out soon but I find it suspicious that there have been 0 reviews or impression it.
I guess it would be a good time to go back to the older games. I wish publishers would time their releases more evenly through the year, instead of having droughts during some months.

June looks more promising with Destroy All Humans, GTA:SA Xbox, Conker, Juiced, Psychonauts PS2 and Batman Begins (could be good).

I agree. The xbox atleast have conker left. GC and PS2 has Killer7 coming in june/july

Well I am going to turn to the handhelds very soon. The DS has a great library coming starting in june.

It was surprising April was as good as it was. Game publishers don't release a lot in this period since consumers don't buy! Though some claim its vice-versa. Chicken, egg, doesn't matter since any seasoned gamer should use the April-July period as backlog catch-up time.

Im enjoying the hell out of Mario 64 DS atm. Gonna put some hours into Guild Wars tonight also I think. Regarding the Gamecube, didn't it have 0 games released in April? Has that ever happened to a console before?

well since Japan is having an insane slew of releases, US won't be dry for too long. Most of this stuff should be appearing in the west within 6-12 months:

+
Ape Escape 3 (PS2)
Gundam True Odessy (PS2)
Tenchi no Mon (PSP)
Jump Superstars (DS)
Castlevania DS (DS)
Kirby (GC)

So yea...the only system having a game drought right now is the Xbox. But I guess that's what happens when you move 75% of your games in development to your next system :\

Waiting minimum 6 months for these games are sure called a drought. Wish I knew Japanese.

it's about time the releases stop... gives me time to fucking catch up. i still need to get jade empire and god of war. :O

Nah, there are several PS2 releases I plan on picking up such as: Makai Kingdom, Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, Fullmetal Alchemist 2, and probably Killer 7.

edit: Is OZ being translated for the U.S. market?

Conker in three weeks time. I'm replaying RE4 on Pro right now anyway, so it's all good. I also still need to finish my closed fist game of Jade Empire.

You're not kidding they're drying up. Spring/Summer is usually slow, but it hasn't been this slow in a looong time. We need 12-15 games per week to fill our show and right now we're up against it. When you go to E3 for a week, come back and only Raze's Hell is sitting on your desk you know it's a slow month. Can't remember a generation of consoles winding down this drastically. To make it to October we may have to rename the show GBA-Play.

I seriously doubt Mushihimesama is coming out over here. Same goes for Namco X Capcom, although that does have a much better chance. Berwick saga is a toss-up. It's concievable that Atlus or NIS or WD could pick it up, but they do have a lot on their plates.

i've been playing PoP ww and it's got some serious platform elements in it. that fucker can climb.

got a few other backlogs i need to open and beat before halo map pack is released as i am sure i'll waste countless hours on that with friends.

Well I said 'most' of the games would make it over :P. The only ones I think are a definite no are Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 (licensing issues) and Mushihimesama (though I don't understand why more shmups don't come over. Very little localization needed, so I guess it's just the asking price). Berwick could, and I think Namco x Capcom will, Metal Saga is a big maybe depending on people like Atlus/WD and how good the game is. The rest all seem very likely IMO.

I hope Destroy All Humans is as fun as it looks. Is it going to be a budget price release? Want to check out that and Killer 7.

As of today at ebgames.com

PS2 about 190 releases before 2006

Xbox 163 releases before 2006

Gamecube 73 releases before 2006

Not enough games?

I'll be getting Kirby & Meteos for my DS in june. That's pretty much it for the month.

Game releases always dry up after April and don't really pick back up until late August/early September. It's an old myth dating back to when children dominated the hobby of gaming and hasn't yet been shaken even though the market has quite 'matured' since them days.

So we should expect a 20-minute Raze's Hell skit next week?

damn dude i saw that boxart for Namco X Capcom and i thought it was going to be another awesome game in the Capcom Vs. Series.

then i go google it and check out some screens... its a fucking strategy RPG! what a damn waste! how awesome would it be to pit SF against tekken and so on in 2D hand drawn glory... it will never happen now. way to blow it capcom you a-holes

The fights in Namco x Capcom are pretty close to being a 2d fighter. Think of a 2d fighter where you can't move and the enemy is a training dummy. But your goal is to combo the enemies and do air juggles to keep them in the air. It sounds awkward but Tekken's Jin in 2d plays like a dream. I'm hopeful that even if Capcom doesn't make a fighting game out of this, Mugen people will sprite rip these guys and put them in a fighter.

Not for me. Atelier Iris in June, Makai Kingdom in July. Plus Hot Shots Golf that I'm playing now. And Atelier Iris 2 should be arriving by the end of this week. These should keep me busy until all those games Square got planned for the fall/winter:D.

Shmups are weird. The market is very hardcore at this point, so a lot of us import. SCEA won't approve most at anything close to a reasonable price point, so you've got WD losing money on the ones they bring over, shops like XS doing crap translations and selling at the $10 price point, and the occasional "big budget" 3d title like Gradius V or R-type final at $30.

Completely forgot about the SCEA approval process. Man, the case of Shmups is one of those times SCEA really screws the consumers.

Then again whatever happened to Shikigami no Shiro 2 for Xbox? (and GC too?) I thought I heard rumblings of it being released in the west and then nothing.

Considering that XS sold out their entire first printing of SnS2 in a matter of days, I'd tend to think they did pretty well on that. It is a bit odd why at least the Xbox version was never released.

Slow times like this is when I go back and finish up on all the titles that I have partially completed. I look forward to the slow summer months. I can enhoy time outside and then relax in the evenings with a good video game. After Black Hawk Down for XBox, I plan on focusing on KotoR2, Jade Empire, Thief: Dark Shadows, Metal Gear Solid 3, and a little Phantom Brave. Then there are the titles that are ongoing and I lvoe taking my time with (i.e. Forza: MotorSport). There's a ton of quality stuff already out, and for cheap. You won't find me complaining.

I plan on replaying some stuff too before the XBox360 launch (Devil May Cry 3, Riddick, Resident Evil 4). So I've got plenty of gaming planned for the summer. ;)

I was actually hoping things would slow down more. I see several titles I want on Xbox, GC and DS over the summer and next couple weeks.

WTF Wario Ware: Twisted and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones on the same day. Get out there and buy them before I kick you in your sacred stones.
