The GOAT of esports, Faker, wins his 4th World Championship

A decade of being a pro in a profession where people thought three years was the average lifespan of your reflexes.

SKT T1 wins their fourth Worlds League of Legends championship. Faker who won his fourth is the first player to ever win four Worlds title. Nobody else has ever won thrice not to mention four times.

🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Demolished the Chinese LPL teams who dominated everybody else in the tournament especially one who had a golden road. Meaning they beat the team who beat everybody else the whole year.

Massive carry by Oner and Zeus who is the Finals MVP.

I get that this forum isn’t that big on esports but there were 6 million viewers and over 20 thousand people who attended the venue. In fact, this tournament was even showed on national television in our country.

It was a well produced show, but I wish the format was more definitive.

Top 4 Double Elimination like the LoL Chinese tournaments would've tacked on a few more games but would've sussed out the actual second best team to face T1 in the grand finals.

But if Weibo did beat JDG in a theoretical losers bracket Bo5 there would be no question they were the better team.

Who is faker? What did he win? I ask for real.

Who is this Faker guy, where is he from

Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, a Korean. Considered the best League of Legends player.

He got so good at it that 99% of Koreans aged at 10-30 probably knows him. He was the face of multiple Korean brands like ice cream, tourism, his own team SKT, etc. Literally loyal enough to turn down 100 million deals to switch teams. Instead he bought his own team that was previously owned by SK Telecom. A mobile network brand in Korea. He technically plays on a team that he owns.

He won four Worlds champion and multiple Summer, Spring and MSI(Mid Season Invitational) trophies. Basically revolutionized the way the game is played. Find a strategy in League of Legends? Chances are, they copied it from Faker. Although he is far from his prime, he expanded his repertoire from just absolute lane dominance to shot calling, macro plays, and team fighting. Think of any game record? Chances are he also did it.

Dude spends like $100 a month total but owns like 9 story buildings named after him. Frugal but has insane business sense.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Looks like a decent guy. Bravo to him, making millions by playing games is a gamers dream!

Congrats to T1 and Faker. Totally deserved it, after so many years!
T1 beat the entire LPL/China and dropped only 1 game total against them. What an insane run after almost completely collapsing during Summer.
