The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles coming July 27 to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam

Finally making good on those leaks, very nice. Having played through the fan translation of GAA1 and up to case 3 of GAA2, it's arguably the best Ace Attorney has ever been. Fans are in for a real treat.

This was going to be my question, is this even good? Though I still need to finish the trilogy that was released, so maybe I need to stop considering buying more of these before finishing the ones I have 😅

Pour one out for the dead homie... Gone too soon, Sherlock.

I hope they'll release an update patch in 2023 to reintegrate sherlock real name once the copyright is dead

I love MH series but by far Ace Attorney is my favourite game from Capcom. I'm getting this on my Switch because I love playing an episode of game in my bed before going to sleep.

Wondering if the Asian version will get a physical and have English like the trilogy? I got my physical copy of that for the ps4.

Edit: yesssssssss

God, I'm so happy right now. I had really given up on ever getting to play these games.

Huge fan of the series, and I played every one of them on DS and 3DS.

Would be nice have all the Ace Attorney games in one collection.

EDIT: Looks like they're doing that somewhat.

Will sell like shit, I bet. But these games are so, so good. Shu Takumi is genius.

I'm playing the translated version right now on my 3DS, and its amazing.
Fans did a better job than Capcom would ever did. "Sherlock Holmes", characters showing racism and etc.

The official translation will be filtered, but it will still be an amazing game

Will buy it on PS4 to support them, but will wait for the unnoficial translation on the 3DS to play the second game

If you still have your 3DS, I highly recomend you to play the unnoficial translation.

Its amazingly well done. And playing it on a portable device in 3D really adds to the experience, I think.

If anyone here (like me) already played the first DGS and needs a sort of quick catch-up for when this comes out to play just DGS 2, this lad translated the official recap/rundown which summarizes the story so far. Here's part 1/4:

Now I have good excuse to replay first Trilogy again.

Xbox not invited to the party yet again due to their userbase not buying games. Because they rather wait for it to come to Gamepass

Here is why the game is not coming to the Xbox:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Switch – 462,395
PC – 245,339
PS4 – 103,235
Xbox – 4,821
Xbox always has this problem, they get big name Japanese games but niche games like Ace Attorney and 13 Sentinels will never going make it to Xbox.

Professor Layton is another series that would do well on more platforms. Only avaliable on various Nintendo hardware, iOS and Android.

Very excited! I can't believe it's been five years since AA6. I've really been missing the courtroom drama this gen.

Hope it's better than the last couple AA spinoffs though: AAI and PWvsAA. I did not love those...

It's hard to get the details straight, but there's seemingly an edition with both the original trilogy and The Greate Ace Attorney Chronicles. A physical copy of that would fit nicely into my collection.

Nintendo played a huge role in bringing the series to the West, I'm not sure we'll see any more games in that franchise leave Japan now that the relationship between Nintendo and Level 5 is broken.

yesss i never thought they would make it. Already played the first one on 3DS but will happily play it again along with the second chapter.
I wish I could buy a boxed version but I suppose it's digital only?

Damn, I guess I'm part of the problem because I never realized we got the trilogy on Xbox.

Going straight into the wishlist/backlog, then. Maybe Phil will throw stupid money at them down the line to port it anyway for Game Pass, but yeah, missing out on stuff like this sucks.

The problem is there is barely audience for these type of games in Xbox, Capcom tried but seems majority Xbox players are not interested so why should they bother? Usually people who are interested in Japanese games either have PS4/5, Switch or even PC.

I bought the Ace Attorney trilogy on Xbox. Now I can't finish the saga on Xbox. Darn.

I have no objections, Your Honor!

July 27th, it's like Capcom's early birthday present for me :messenger_heart:

Dual audio, too! Excellent news. I'm in Europe, but if the NA physical edition is even half decent, I'll fight each and every one of you to get it. Don't stand between me and my Ace Attorney.

The fan translation of TGAA1 was great, if a bit... cold and impersonal. It lacked the spark of Capcom's original official localizations. Then again, it has the Sherlock Holmes.

I'm tempted to double dip on Switch and Steam. This is the best news of the year so far for me.

Xbox is just not reliable system for Japanese games. Can you believe Xbox still didn't get original Valkyria Chronicles remaster on their system even tho VC4 is on Xbox?

I am floored this is getting a physical release at all in the West, but very happy.

Also just chiming in to spread the word about the great Arsene Lupin show Nighthood, which features Herlock Sholmes in the first episode.

Seems like a cycle to me. The audience isn't there because the games tend to not be there, and the games aren't there because the audience isn't there. Allegedly, Yakuza has been doing very well on Xbox (or at least has been performing above expectations as far as Game Pass players/downloads). It's possible that Game Pass might be the solution to this problem. If the majority of the Xbox audience is not interested in purchasing Japanese games, perhaps they might still download them if it is a part of a subscription they already pay for, which could change their mind and lead them to being more open about these things.

I understand though, that from a numbers perspective it maybe doesn't make sense, but it's stuff like this that made being an Xbox One owner very tough for most of last gen, lots of cool non-Western games that'd go to Playstation by default. I feel like the tide is turning as more and more stuff like NieR and Kingdom Hearts makes its way over, but it will never truly change until we get to a place were smaller titles like this aren't skipping Xbox 90% of the time.

That all being said, I've never played these games but always wanted to, I'm glad they're getting rereleased so I might finally get a chance to experience them. I'll get the first trilogy and hope for a port, and worst case scenario if it never comes I'll get this on Switch.

It's not Gamepass. Japanese games need to be AAA to get any sales on Xbox.
