The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles coming July 27 to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam

I started stydying Japanese for this game in 2015. Still doing it. Still haven't played it. I refuse to play fan translations. It's been so long that I might as well still play it in Japanese hehe. Not going to give up now and go for the easy route!

But I have to say, just based on previous games, that Shu Takumi is a true genius.

Xbox not invited to the party yet again due to their userbase not buying games. Because they rather wait for it to come to Gamepass :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Here is why the game is not coming to the Xbox:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Switch – 462,395
PC – 245,339
PS4 – 103,235
Xbox – 4,821

lol maybe.

I think its not coming to XB because of the reason why LOTS of games don't come to the platform, the install base just doesn't play those types of games as much as Nintendo, PC and PS do. Thats been happening well before Gamepass but it will probably keep happening if folks are just waiting for it to be free or something. I semi agree lol

Xbox is just not reliable system for Japanese games. Can you believe Xbox still didn't get original Valkyria Chronicles remaster on their system even tho VC4 is on Xbox?

I can believe that lol

Sega is very conservative, if a system doesn't sell their game, they leave it. They don't waste fucking time waiting for something to happen and I knew that would likely occur. Look at when they tried with Yakuza with Nintendo. Yakuza can move units on XB, thus more come to the system.

How do these games relate to the Phoenix Wright trilogy? I really enjoyed them.
There's some references, the protagonist is an ancestor of Phoenix Wright. The series retains the style, charm and gameplay of Ace Attorney (as well as making some notable improvements) but the stories aren't directly related. These games take place during the Victorian/Meiji Restoration periods of Britain and Japan, respectively. It tells a mystery story largely centered around the secrets behind these two nations developing legal systems. As well as several different sub-plots involving everyone's personal drama, of course.

If you enjoyed the Ace Attorney trilogy these games are basically must play. I'm assuming you haven't played 4, 5 or 6 but after the series began to stagnate with those entries (despite them being decent games in their own right), Great Ace was the breath of fresh air Ace Attorney really needed and stand toe-to-toe with the original trilogy, and in some ways surpass it.

Thanks for the explanation, I'll definitely pick it up when it releases.

I see. I'm still annoyed by the Valkryia Chronicles remaster. The PS4 version has less blur and fewer glitches than the PC version, Sega never brought the improvements to PC players.

I was at my local Bookoff store here in Japan just yesterday and saw one of the games on 3ds and thought "Wouldn't it be nice if the games got an English release?" Talk about a nice bit of news just a day later. Always wanted to pick it up but kept putting it off. Will have to buy now for sure.

PC still by faaaar better choice for Japanese games than Xbox is. Not only you get most of the Xbox games but you also get most niche Japanese games that completely skips over Xbox.

Where did you get the confirmation about asian release with english language?
I haven't, I probably should have elaborated on my edit, I meant to add the yesss in my original message in regards to my excitement. But if this gets the same treatment as the trilogy then there should be a physical Asian version with English option.

It will be interesting to see how the game gets localized. After playing the fan translation, it's obvious that some dialogues are pretty racist against the Japanese. Granted, it's fully justified by the setting, but you know that some people will ignore all context to stir up some shit.

For the longest time I also thought that Capcom wouldn't localize this because it clashes with the "Japanifornia" pretense that's at the core of the main series' localization. Apparently that wasn't the reason, or maybe they just thought that if they were going to do a collection, they'd rather take a gamble and try to get some Western money as well. Pity that they still won't trust European gamers enough to make a physical edition here.

It's not Gamepass. Japanese games need to be AAA to get any sales on Xbox.

I agree. But Game pass made the situation worse.

And It seems one of the mods got triggered by my post and deleted it :messenger_tears_of_joy:
