One or Eight and Alliance Arts have announced that their crowd-controlling turn-based strategy title, The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily, has received a new demo on PC via Steam ahead of its full release next week on July 24, 2025.
Set in a pre-internet empire on the verge of collapse, the game follows the tech-savvy livestreamer Lily, who travels back in time to save Duchess Scarlet from a wrongful execution. What follows is a tactical revolution fueled by misinformation, shifting loyalties, and psychological warfare.
This new demo includes the prologue and first chapter, offering a look at how players will manipulate media to influence the battlefield. Propaganda from Lily's high-tech airship can sway enemy generals to reposition their troops, opening flanking opportunities and disrupting supply lines. Lowering enemy morale is a major mechanic, and planting seeds of doubt can lead to defections mid-battle.
Turn-based combat rewards deception and strategy. Defeated captains can be captured to grow Scarlet's army, or eliminated to level up stats. Each decision shapes both characters' development and can lead to multiple story outcomes. Scarlet can also build relationships with allies, unlocking Unison skills that add extra depth to combat.
The demo features voice acting during cutscenes and battles, offering a more complete look at the game's tone and pacing. A new trailer is also expected tomorrow, showcasing the official opening movie on the Alliance Arts YouTube channel.
The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily will release on PC via Steam on July 24, 2025, for $29.99. Language support includes English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
