That's not Battlestar Galactica

That's not Battlestar. lol. I've never seen Babylon 5 that I can remember. I think I always confused it with that other scfi show with all the muppets whose name is escaping me right now.

That's not Red Dwarf.

Such Heresy!

While we are talking scfi shows was Andromeda any good?

No, it really wasn't. There was some stuff in it that I liked, but not enough.

I got a question about this show, i heard there were several movies throughout the show, are they required? do i need to stress about watching them in the right order? seems daunting

Not required. The show itself is very self contained. Most of the movies are Prequel/After the show

The greatest science fiction television to me was The X-Files (the original run from 1993 to 2002).

I tried watching some episodes of Babylon 5 a couple years ago but I couldn't get into it.

LOGH is not sci-fi... it is a god damn good space political drama.

Yeah, but people tell me Star Wars is sci-Fi so I don't know what to think.
LOGH is the textbook definition of Space Opera, the scale, the stakes, the breadth.

The best thing about it is that there is heroes and villains on both sides.
It really did what GoT (the TV show) tried to do.

It's no Earth 2! Lol. I really dug that show. I need to look into why it didn't last. Poor ratings for the budget would be my easy guess.

Side bar: Captain Pike is getting a spin off Star Trek series.

Will this one be as awful as Discovery and Picard?

Pike, Spock, and Number One made Disco S2 the best season of that show, so no.

Also here's an article about the remastering:

‘Babylon 5 Remastered’ now available to buy or stream on HBO Max | Engadget

A Warner Bros. spokesperson told Engadget that Babylon 5 Remastered has been scanned from the original camera negative. The film sequences were scanned in 4K and then “finished,” or downscaled, back to HD, with a dirt and scratch clean-up, as well as color correction. The show’s CGI and composite sequences, meanwhile, have been digitally upscaled to HD with only some minor tweaks where absolutely necessary.

The package that’s available to buy from today includes all five seasons of the show, all newly restored. In addition, the show’s pilot movie, The Gathering, has been thrown in as a bonus extra, without any remastering. Specifically, this is the 1998 re-edited and re-scored version that aired to promote the show’s move from PTEN to TNT, rather than the 1993 original. (Naturally, the quality is likely to be far lower since the film materials for that episode were destroyed by the Northridge Earthquake in 1994).

(joke is that JMS was pushing for this for years and it turns out WB just did it behind his back in secret)

Well, it is space opera, basically a French period movie with star wars type tech.
Never got into it because of the 18th century trappings with nobles, palaces, etc. However if you like watching politics and palace intrigues then it is the right kind of show.

Don't sleep on Gundam: Iron-blooded Orphans if you haven't watched it yet. Probably my number 1 favorite Gundam and really delves into child soldiers/teen protagonists of anime. Downer of an ending also.
