As spotted by Rebs Gaming and others, earlier today, the official PlayHighguard.com website was replaced with a simple static page, featuring the game's logo and a message that says: "This site is currently unavailable." Below that is a support email to ping about the down site. Kotaku has contacted Wildlight Entertainment for more information. It seems the site has been down since at least 7:50 am EST.

They are probably preparing a big apology/sorry letter that they are closing down. Or a different statement on saying how they are going to try to "re-launch". But I think it's the former.

It's clear at this point that they were running this game with very little monetary leeway (hence the quick layoffs), so I wouldn't be surprised if this is simply a case of forgetting to pay the website host or whatever

RIP. Did they even have a business plan? Or did they just expect to sell 100 million doolars worth of microtransaction skins for their terrible character designs in the first week?

This failed game was pure "It could work for us" energy. Probably undone by toxic positivity like so many fugly, modern failures. Not a single person wanted to be the one standing tall at a meeting, raising their hand and saying "Our shit suxx, we're cooked".

Seeing elsewhere on the web where people are saying the failure of this game is due to the industry failing and the toxicity of the playerbase fills me with joy.

Yep... continue blaming the audience and saying the indutry is unfair...

Surely that level of cope is going to work.

Or, you know, you could not blow millions and dev time on a derieative game in an over saturated genre. First reveal it a month before launch and have zero contigency plan if it doesn't take off?

Seriously what was the gameplan here? Make 100 million in the first month on cosmetics or go bust?

Maybe the audience is responding as it should and this is the market at work?

Nah... it's the gamers with opinions who are meanie poo poo heads saying bad things instead of shutting up. That's it. A healthy inudstry is one where the consumers don't have negative opinions and aren't allowed to voice them.

It's crazy that these live service multiplayer games are killed off so quickly.

Multiple years and millions spent for nothing. What a waste.

The game might have been more of a success if it had a single player element. Now it'll just be a forgotten failure.
