Keika Hanada, the writer of the beloved visual novel The House in Fata Morgana, has announced that a live-action adaptation of the game is in development.

According to Hanada, an unspecified North American film director—who is a massive fan of the original game—has been working on this project for over two years.

Negotiations with TV networks and producers are progressing positively, and the team is actively searching for an experienced producer to help bring the adaptation to life.

Hanada’s Full Statement

The VN Fest wrapped up with fantastic numbers, likely thanks to being featured on the front page. A huge thank you to everyone!

And now, an important announcement. For over two years, a passionate North American film director—who really loves Fata Morgana—has been working on a live-action adaptation project. Negotiations with multiple TV networks and producers are currently moving forward positively.

To further strengthen the project’s chances of becoming a reality, we are now searching for an experienced and dedicated producer. If you believe you’re the right person for this, please reach out via the email listed on our news page. And of course, I’d love for everyone to continue supporting Fata Morgana so we can make this happen! Thank you!

They're going to ruin it.

Considered one of the best video games of all time and the best visual novel ever created.

Since Hollywood is out of ideas... Now they're going to steal the story from somewhere else.

Tag you-know-who in this thread, as he might want to hear about this live action adaptation since he's a big fan of the VN.

Interesting. They have to make sweeping changes to make it work as a film/TV series.

I don't think it will work out, good luck to them though.

Hum, wasn't this released on PS4? I don't see on the PS store.
I dont think so. I had to play it on Switch and it was not even translated in my language.

Game was mesmerizing but I stopped before the end. Curious how they could adapt it to the screen.

Edit: I can't resist posting this sublime track from the OST. "Right in the feels, b*tch!")

I checked again. It's on the PS store in the USA but not available in EURO land. Though luck. I can't play it on PC (I have a mac).
Yeah, the VN never got a release on the European PSN (not sure why though), but you can purchase it just fine through Steam or the Nintendo eShop.

Edit: You can also import a physical copy of the PS4 version of the game from PlayAsia, but they've gotten quite expensive.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
The House in Fata Morgana is a visual novel set in a mansion. The story revolves around an amnesiac protagonist who wakes up in the mansion and is greeted by the mansion's maid. The mansion is rumored to be cursed and the story takes place in different time periods – 1603, 1707, 1869 and 1099 – to learn what has happened to its residents and to try to get the spirit to regain its lost memories

Doesn't sound that revolutionary. Just cast Sydney Sweeney and we will all be interested.

I loved this game on Switch. Bought it based on user reviews and yeah. I'm in even if it sucks.

I'd be hard pressed to say I've ever known anyone who has said this that had completed more than two VNs.
