THE iDOLM@STER 2 |OT| of Intermedia Artists and Specialists

Part of me wants to grab this because the demo was way too fun and I've been a fan of the series for years, but the fact that Yukiho has a new VA that I don't really like is pretty devastating for me considering she's one of my favourites. Petty, I know, but I can't help it. ;_;

DLC is already up for purchase in the JP Store...

theres the full catalog content, around 200MB and free to download and then all the content as unlock keys.

the question is, is this DLC account locked or will it work with other accounts in the same console?

whoever tries it first, please report :D

Well CDJapan shipped my copy! Quite excited now.

Little question for people who already played on X360 : is it hard to get Producer level 10 and IA rank 1 ? I imagine someone will answer "yeah without faultless management you can't get them" but well doesn't hurt to ask.

Well, Producer Level 10 a cumulative thing. You'd have to play through the game several times to get it, and it takes... well, lets say between 9 and 13 hours a cycle through (it's closer to 12 in my experience, but it depends on how you play and what you skip). It depends on how well you do with each cycle through the game, but it could well take anywhere between 70 and 120 hours to get to Producer Level 10, I guess. I've not done it on 360, so I can't really be sure.

I'm not sure what you mean by IA Rank 1. It's easy enough to win the main IA award, though it's not likely to be something you manage your first time through. If you mean winning the main IA award and all the sub awards, well, that's rather more tricky - you certainly need to know what you're doing, particularly in the opening weeks.

Oh ok, Producer Rank is like a permanent level that carries through different cycles, good to know.

For IA Rank 1, well I imagine it's "winning the Idol Academy with the highest score overall"

So you say it's easy enough, given a few playthroughs, to get to number 1 spot?
Good to know as I probably will do at least 1 playthrough per girl (for each individual trophy and the cumulative trophies).

Seems like trophies will mainly be time consuming rather than exceedingly difficult to achieve.

Thinking of ordering this for my female friend(no, really, but not like I wouldn't play it), but I have no clue who is a reliable importer. I had a nightmare with NCSX I think once, but that was 10 years ago and I haven't imported anything since.

Ah, not quite - there's two different things here.

Producer Level is a persistent level that carries between cycles of the game (As does your cash and costume unlocks, by the way). You start at 1, and it goes up to 10, and at certain points on that cycle you unlock additional features.

Producer Rank, on the other hand, is your ranking for a particular cycle through the game. It takes into account a number of factors - things like your peak single position, if you won the main IA award, how many sub IA awards you won, how many times you lost "special" festivals, your end stats and the like. It gives you a grade for each of the categories is judges you on, and your Producer Rank for the game is basically an average of those. Getting an overall ranking of "S" is a fair challenge - if you go back down the thread, you'll see that most of us playing the Japanese 360 release were struggling to get D's and C's at first!

It's certainly not impossible, though, it just takes a bit of creative thinking. You're certainly unlikely to do it the first time through, as it takes having more cash early game that the game initially presents you with, and having certain amulets and costume parts unlocked.

You're probably right in thinking trophies will be time consuming rather than unusually difficult, though.

Yeah got Rank and Level mixed in my sentence but I wanted to say Level.

Doesn't seem to be a trophy for Producer Rank though.

However there seems to be one for a "perfect" Idol Academy, in which you need to win every category in one playthrough...

I note that they didn't actually announce it until the PS3 version was out, but with the exception of the Miku pack and the free accessory, 360 DLC Catalogue 9 (which was out the 27th) contains the same content as PS3 Catalogue 1 (Kami-Summer!!, the two unique costumes, etc, etc).

I've not actually started playing the game itself yet, but I'm totally watching World is Mine in S4U on my UK account right now.

The free catalog DLC and accessory work on my US account. Although buying stuff in game obviously doesn't work since the DLC isn't up on US PSN.

Well, got my copy today! Only got to install the game data (required, takes 3860MB) and play the song "relations" in Stage for You.
Will begin my producing later today!

So yeah as someone pointed out, 360 catalog 9 = PS3 catalog 1 and we have 360 catalogs 1-2-3 in the PS3 version.
So what about 360 catalogs 4-5-6-7-8 for PS3? Do you think we'll get them eventually, maybe when the 360 catalogs stop appearing, they'll go back to the missing catalogs to complete the PS3 version? I hope so at least.

So, I just finished my first play through of the PS3 version (B grade! Go me!) and had a quick run though Extra Episode with Ritsuko as the selected character. It plays... well, it probably plays like what most people without experience of the series thinks iM@S does - it's a fairly straight ADV-esque affair punctuated with three Festival events you need to beat to continue. The difficulty in passing the festivals is going to depend on your choices during the dialogue sequences, as it effects how many Memories Appeals you'll have to play with - for what it's worth, I found the second event way more difficult than the last, only barely passing it by a few hundred points on my second attempt.

It only takes 40-60 minutes to play through, depending on how much and how quickly you skip, and you unlock the fugly new Ryuuguu costume, the song Nanairo Button and a unique gift from your selected character once you clear it.

Suppose I'll run through the other three characters later.

(Oh, and I like some of the tweaks they made to the PS3 version of the game - it's quicker to skip through some of the things it took a while to on 360, and they fixed the kind-of-hacky feeling amulet buying so it actually clearly shows what it does, and how much money you have. Pretty sure they've re-jigged the difficulty in places as well - the Ryuuguu festival seemed way easier, though the area awards seemed more difficult).

I'm at week 22 now, the Ryuuguu-FUJISAN ROCK festival was super easy (at least when you're not forced to lose - they got 65k that time...).

I could get a Nikuwan amulet recently so my scores have gone up quite a bit from before! Still my second song is only barely into the Top50 in its 7th week (enthusiastic danketsu 2/3rd of the way full, unit lv10, still only 1 memory heart but it's full so next time I'll have two of them, pink smiley face everywhere but not that much fans for now because I f'ed up the beginning).

For now I don't really get the Break, Super Break, Keep or Revival aspects to get my songs to sell or keep selling in the long run, as I didn't really look into it until now. I'll take time today to actually research what I can about all this.

Oh yeah like a fucking boss!

Finally started playing my copy of Imas2 PS3 for real today. Going in with my knowledge from 360, but not the equipment, it's still a slightly rough phase.

Still going with ultimate team of Chihaya/Hibiki/Miki (According to project imas, they're the best team anyway, with worst being like Mami/Yukiho/Yayoi XD) And as I said, it was a bit rough, the first few weeks the girls were already quarreling. Not only that, I didn't quite succeed at my first audition or two after the tutorial phase. But I managed to get my act together soon enough, and it's success from there. But the real winning point for me was that I was able to get thru Ryuugu Komachi without losing, although it was by like 30 points. I should have focused more, but I was freaking out about their bursts, so I was dropping chain like mad. It all paid off though, with them beaten, the danketsu for the trio is sky high! Although, maybe it's a lot easier than it was on the 360. Still happy!

Agreed on all the fixes, I love them. Being able to let the idols train/compete by themselves without having to clear the game once is a real time saver. The amulet buying was such a pain too.

Anyway, my current setlist:

Ready!
Jibun Restart
Kami Summer

Also, my unit is only lvl7. Lol, so busy trying to grind fans more so than do training. Sort of my mentality coming from 360. *And realistically the proper mentality if you want to succeed. I need to work on my communications though, I still only have 1 appeal. Jibun Restart is somewhere in the 70s ranking wise, and I believe I have a good foundation for Kami Summer fanwise, so it should hit top 50+ easily. My biggest goal tonight though is to manage top20, so I can buy those snow accessories from the 2nd catalog haha.

Do you have a link or something for that? I'd like to read the reasoning.
I love Chihaya (she's actually my favourite), and am okay with Hibiki. Not really a big fan of Miki though.
If the reasoning is good enough, I may restart since I'm not very far anyway. I'll go with Chihaya no matter what, but I chose Makoto and Takane as the others because they share the same song for their Master Artist CDs. Heh.

Wish I could say, but I never got around to playing my copy of Missing Moon. I imagine the console experiences are far superior though.

And I didn't put much effort due to the amount of attention the OT gets (IE next to none) But I try to get around to posting pics for each DLC update.

It's just pure numbers - those three have the highest stats (Hibiki just narrowly edging out Makoto).

Oh that makes sense. Highest VO/VI/DA.
Don't know why I didn't make that connection. I'm slow...

I don't think I'll restart then. I've been doing okay just focusing a lot on VO anyway. Maybe I'll suffer for it later.

What Digi said, Chihaya is the vocal goddess, Hibiki is dance master, and Miki is visual beauty.

That said, you're going to have to play with Miki and some others anyway if you want to unlock other things. You have to have Miki as a leader at some point for one of the outfit unlocks.

In regards to my current playthru... managed a super break on my 4th single "Kamisama no Birthday" :D So it debuted into Top 20 easily, and then made it into Top 10 right after. Almost done with this playthru and at around 450k fans, with 1 IA award locked. Trying to beat a lvl9 Utahime Fes but it's kicking my ass hard. Also been trying to get a revival on "Ready" but I only just found out that it doesn't work on National Auditions. Lol D: Anyway, this is my best playthru to date!

I don't like to think of future playthroughs. I never know if I'll have the time or if I'll still be interested. So I never plan to do additional playthroughs or plan to unlock everything.

If I do go through multiple times though, Miki will probably be one of the last. So the chances of me getting to it are kind of low.

But anyway...

You're going to have to if you want to achieve a best ending among other things. Imas is meant to be replayed thru dozens of times. The first playthru as mentioned earlier is more or less a throwaway trial and error experiment. You're going to mess up, you're going to get the bad end, that's just the reality of it. But with subsequent playthrus, you'll understand the strategies and have more items for the girls that'll make it easier to dominate the charts and become TOP IDOL.

Hmm. I didn't think I was doing too poorly.
Well whatever. I'll just continue playing and see what happens.
There's multiple endings per leader though right? So that'd make the likelihood of me getting to characters I don't like as much even lower. But eh. I'll just go with it and see how invested I become. I don't know if I care about unlocking all the outfits and seeing the best endings for everyone. I just really enjoy the music and watching numbers go up.

I liked the music enough to buy a whole bunch of CDs before the game was ever even announced for PS3 (I don't have a 360).

I'm sure it'll grab me more when I put more time into it.

The complete breakdown to Chihaya/Hibiki/Miki from project Imas.

Is Yukiho/Mami/Yayoi still the sinking fleet/worst possible team stat-wise in the game?

Sadly, yes and Yayoi's and Yukiho's bursts aren't exactly top tier either.
Mami has the 2nd best dance burst but it doesn't help with her stats.

The new invincible armada would consist of Chihaya as leader because of her excellent compatibility with other idols, her absurd total base stats of 71 and her excellent 6/2/2 vocal burst. One could also use her as a member cause that compatibility is great too.

And 2 out of these 3:
- Miki for her 2nd best base stats of 63 and decent 5/3/2 visual burst, has decent compatibility as leader or as a member.
- Hibiki has a tied 3rd place with Makoto for highest base stats, both having 62, and has a good compatibility as either leader or a member and has an excellent 6/2/2 dance burst.
- Makoto has good stats and her compatibility with other idols is better than Hibiki's but her 4/3/3 dance burst severely lacks in scoring potential.

By going with Chihaya/Miki/Hibiki one has the best multi purpose team in the game and doing story mode with any leader, Chihaya and Hibiki and by going with either the Da/Vi route or Da/Vo route one should theoretically net the best results.

Just as a note, they nerfed Chihayas Burst for the PS3 version, so it's actually 5/3/2 rather than 6/2/2 now. Not really sure why they did this when Hibiki got to keep here 6/2/2, but *shrug*

This month's DLC is hot! ! !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDj519Muxc0&feature=player_embedded

And why is that?

- Double song release!
- One of the new songs is a Quintet song!
- New stages!
- First time 360/ps3 get same release!

The DLC this month is: Jibun Restart, Kamisama no Birthday, Snow set, Santa set.

Will post pics shortly, enjoy the PV in the mean time.

No Heart of the Marionette? I really wanna hear the full version of that song.

Not as far as I can see, but the dialogue box is clearly visible when the game is paused. The dialogue selection boxes, not so much - they're partially obscured by the pause menu.

No Heart of the Marionette? I really wanna hear the full version of that song.

You wouldn't get that from the game, as the game tracks are only around 1:40.

Saying that, the CD with that song on, ANIM@TION MASTER 05, was out last month. The CD version is 4:07 long.

I haven't found one. You can, however, pause at any point to catch up with the text. The only real problem is that during the various decision countdowns, most of the text in the top decision is obscured by the pause menu.

Man, I would've bought heart of the marionette dlc so fast. At the very least, the full version is available on the anim@tion master 5 cd, which just came out.

My kanji is pretty poor.

The way I handle it is by repeatedly pausing.
I have a very poor understanding of kanji, but at the very least I can recognize/remember them. It just takes me a bit to figure it out, or sometimes to look in a dictionary. You have like 5 seconds for timed choices, so you can quickly pause/un-pause to take a quick peek at obscured text.

So if your problem is just slow reading, you should still be fine for the most part.

RurouniZel

So pausing is the only way? Oh well, better than nothing I suppose. Seems really silly that there's NO option to stop the text from proceeding all by itself.

Oh yeah like a fucking boss!

Speaking of being Like A Boss, I finally got around to playing my second playthrough on the PS3 this weekend. A-ranked everything, including clearing all the special festivals (S-rank now having been moved to Hyper-mode only).

That said, I passed most of the those special festivals by the most narrow of margins. My next playthough is going to be aiming for a B rank at best - I'm mostly just looking to unlock stuff (mainly Mushaharu's Secret Crest to help with those festivals) whilst not sliding back down the Producer Ranks. You need to be getting A-ranks to progress once you reach level 6 (me presently being on level 4), and be switching to Hyper not long afterwards, so I need to be thinking about doing this stuff now rather than later where sparing a week for shopping will be more problematic.

Haha I only just found out about Mushiharu 2 days ago. Gonna aim to grab that on my 2nd playthru. Also I should have realized this, but having the trophy for "Best 20" means squat on getting the snow accessories if it wasn't on my JP Account lol. D: After I complete my 1st playthru, I'll hop on my jp account and grind it up to a top20 then finally get those accessories. Although, I look forward to playing the extra episode as well.'

That said, currently getting my ass handed to me on one of the Utahime festivals, it's lvl9 I believe. I'm really not sure how to go about it or if I should just give up. Either I hunt down the reporter for voltage gain, or be more strategic about my appeals to counter the competition. Using Sugamo-chan too. . .

Yay finally 1st clear!... C rank still XD I tried to get Ataku Jun to help with my voltage on that Utahime fes, but it wasn't happening and Fireball was like 2 days after. Still, managed the IA award and Snow White award. In the end, it's still higher than my 1st 360 playthru at least. My idols danketsu was always outstanding, and they barely fought. Either way, got mostly Bs, except a C on communications. Oh well, I'm all geared up for more unlocks and crazy sales. . .

But now to grind for Best 20 trophy on my jp psn account D:

Well, can't say we didn't see it coming. Wonder if the other DS characters will be on the way in subsequent months, and then there's those anime-only idols. I do feel a bit sorry for the 360 owners who are still playing and will miss out on this... all eight of them.

I want this in the West so damn much... The reactions on Friend's List would be worth it alone.

Seems like there's a lot more gameplay than with Dream Club, watched the Zero version on PSVita stream, and it was almost like a virtual novel.

Will never happen unfortunately, see this thread for details from Project Imas:

And yeah it's a lot more gameplay intensive indeed. It's all based around group management than just the idol themselves (Which upset many folks), but at the same time it makes it a lot more approachable for importers and non speakers alike.
