I cant stop playing Puzzle Craft, its so crazy addictive

I bought Jack Lumber and Mad skills BMX on Thursday and have barely touched them

Just want to start out the new thread by recommending Trigger Fist. I'll say it right now, the newest patch ruined online play for many people, myself included. However, it's still an excellent game.

Basically, it is a full-featured and very pretty Third-person Shooter which I feel comes damn close to console quality. The trick is that they removed the Y-axis so that it doesn't have the difficult control that every other first and third person iOS shooter I've tried has.

It looks great, plays like a dream, has a pretty compelling upgrade system, and if Lake Effect can get it together and release a new patch ASAP it'll once again have a great online component.

Been playing Puzzle Craft all day. Literally. I have two recent $60 console games I've barely touched, yet every waking moment is spent on a game I paid 99 cents for.

Yeah, same. I'm always glad to have a game like this come along. I've been alternating between this and Happy Street all day.

Is it ok to talk about the upcoming hardware here? I am selling my ipod touch 4th gen in anticipation for the iPhone 5 and have been actively looking at the rumors. Supposedly it's supposed to have a wider screen? I wonder how that's going to work out for existing apps and if it could potentially make playing ios games easier on a bigger screen?

Anyways, sorry for being a little off topic. In lieu of being on break I got back into Game Dev Story and it always manages to suck at least 4 hours of my life away. It's still my all time favorite IOS game out there, but I haven't been keeping up lately with all the new stuff.

Actually don't know what I was worried about with FFT now after playing it for the last couple hours - I finally got Dual weild on my Ramza monk and he is a beast! Now to do it again with another character and I'll be unstoppable! Muhahahaha! It's nice to feel the difficulty curve levelling off a little, this game can be very tough.

Heck, I have games that I'm excited to try on a bigger screen. I'm not decided between a 5th gen iPod touch or an iPad mini yet.

If the iPod touch gets a legitimate upgrade, hopefully as powerful as a 5g iPhone with half the RAM (like with the 4g), I'd rather have that. If they make the iPod just as powerful as like a 4s or just a crap upgrade in general I reckon I'll go with an iPad mini.

I'd love an iPad, but I need something small and sturdy for my lifestyle. A new iPod with a 4-inch screen would be perfect.

I'm dreaming of silky smooth Dead Trigger and not having my thumbs block so much in Minecraft!

I recently rediscovered my love for ZiGGURAT. Honestly, I think it might be the best iPhone game. Perfect control, honed mechanics, and great music. I'm a sucker for games that have to be mastered.

Agreed. It's definitely one of my favorite iOS games of this year and the developer, Action Button, has a new game that should be coming out soon. (I think)

Hopelessly addicted to Happy Street, losing hours to it... yet still sorely tempted to pick-up Puzzle Craft. I love you guys, you seem to share my weaknesses.

iOS gaming is a quirky beast - time is the real currency and consideration, not dollars.

Still weighing up which of the Playdek games to get stuck into as well, but leaning toward Ascension. Good choice for someone whose only real experience of related genres is a little MtG? How much do the IAPs add to the experience?

Woah new thread, awesome! I got to catch up on iPhone gaming. Been kinda out of the loop lately but just blind bought Jack Lumber, Puzzle Craft, and Madskills BMX.

Ascension is probably my favorite iOS game. The IAPs are only expansion packs (which are certainly worth it). The game is very easy to understand, but some people criticize it for being too luck-focused.

Shhhhh

The only way I can not buy it is by pretending jt doesn't exist....

Well, twice now Puzzle Craft has crashed on me when running out of moves in the mine. The doesn't seem to be able to process it.

Edit: Make that three times -- just did it again.

what kind of mechanics does it have?

what other mobile game types does it resemble?

My best description, really, is it being a combination of Dungeon Raid, Triple Town and The Settlers. The puzzle mechanics clone Dungeon Raid, but items combo up like in Triple Town. Then you have the strategy elements of building up your region. It's a perfect storm for casual addiction, basically.

Puzzle Craft is surprisingly addictive. It wasn't at first. I think it was because of the tutorial. Once I got passed that, it's opening up and getting fun.

In puzzle craft, does placement of buildings have any effect on the game? This game is so fun and I can't stop playing it.

Anyone playing this add me on game centre- dantehemi

I am currently ranked 10th on my friend list (only shows 35 guys playing)

I dropped my phone last night, the screen is shattered :( Surprisingly it still works well touch wise. It is just really hard to look at puzzlecraft on a shattered screen.

What? I'm getting notifications with Puzzle Craft? How do I turn this off?

You have to turn it off in your iPhone\iPods settings menu. Go to settings > Notifications, it is the 3rd option down for me. Then click Puzzle Craft and the top option will turn off notifications full stop, or you can edit the amount of notifications you want from this menu.

Nah, the placement has no gameplay effect.

On a separate note, O2Jam S is currently free.

sky landers is fuckin crack. i sunk over 3 hours into it today alone. the game really opens up score wise once you get the more expensive magic items.

Been away from the iOS thread for some time over the summer... time to go back and see what I missed...

Btw, the OP is missing a link to OT 4.

Puzzle craft puzzle craft puzzle craft.

I think I've already put 5-6 hours into it. For .99. Jesus.

Personally, I think it's OT-worthy. Anyone up to the task?

And yeah, you know you've got a full-blown addiction when you go to the can, and when you come out your legs have fallen asleep because you forgot where you were.

No lie, that happened to me today! Bahahahaha

Ive never made an OT before. Anyone here with experience that wants to make one? I want this game to be even more popular. I'm actually considering an IAP as a thank you to the developers,

Nevermind, I forgot I can turn off notifications in settings. Scared me when I heard chickens during the middle of the night!

Puzzle Craft is pretty great. Getting really into it now.

Also, anyone try Fairway Solitaire? I remember this game having a lot of IAPs which was mostly DLC like extra courses, etc. But it looks like the full game is now $0.99. It still has IAPs but are any of those just extra coins/points or are they DLC?

Thinking about getting it.

This thread got me onto the Puzzle Craft bandwagon as well, game is super addicting! I normally don't like match 3 type games, however this one has a purpose to the match game play. Awesome game.

Fairway Solitaire is pretty great and, as you said, you can completely ignore the IAP. As someone who doesn't enjoy score attacks and infinite runners, this is the perfect "5 minute" game. It's also a great "just one more" game, as I found myself trying to get just one more hole in before putting it down (and often coming back to work from my lunch break late because of it).

Got in on the Puzzle Craft love-in last night. Very enjoyable.

Just wish there was more variety in the types of puzzles. I can't believe someone hasn't ripped of Puzzle Pirates (it's been out for 7 years now?) yet and how they handle multiple puzzles under a general theme. It seems like a no-brainer and would be insanely popular on the iOS or any console.

How does Fairway Solitaire compare to Faerie Solitaire (which I've played)? They are both by Big Fish Games and look fairly similar.

Yeah, I was kinda down on the game at first when it seemed like I was going to be doing just the two same puzzles. But it's the changes that happen within those two puzzle types that makes it so dang addicting. Being able to farm wheat and chickens without time going by is rewarding, as is finally being able to collect gas in the mine. And of course, once you get the scarecrow, you'll be accumulating tools galore.

Lately (meaning a year or so) I've been playing games on my Ipod4 so much that it takes all my portable gaming time. Honestly, my DSiXL, PSP and 3DS are dusty and I pretty much never touch them even if I have a sizeable backlog of games to play for each. I don't know, it just seems easier, faster and more rewarding to simply take my Ipod and starting to play in there. What's the real reason behind this? Accessibility and design of the Apple store? Ipod4's quality interface? Number of cheap games in there?

I don't think this is really thread worthy (or maybe it is?) and this could animate the discussions around here anyways.

iOS games load quicker and are better suited for mindless short bursts of play.

It just feels easier to iOS game than handheld game.

The large and diverse selection of cheap or free games helps.

So many good games out now it makes my head hurt.

Unfortunately it's been difficult to stop playing Puzzle Craft. My god, it's fun. Level 22, 1km+ distance traced with my index finger. Wonder where it's capped off, I've never even played any games like this before it.
