Normally I do not like these kind of games (I always delete these games after one hour, the last being Happy Streets) but Puzzle Craft is AWESOME.
So addicted I forgot to play my daily contracts in Hunters 2 today and finish Horn (a must get if you like action adventures btw).

Dunno how long it will last but for me it is much more addicting and involving than other match3 games (Dungeon Raid included).

And it's soooooooo slick.
Too bad it doesn't support iCloud, it's GORGEOUS on the new iPad, but I'm
playing it on iPhone which is always with me.
That means I'm playing it constantly.

For those who want more substance than the millionth town builder sim:), AppZapp is reporting that Codito's board games are going on sale tonight for $.99 each.

This includes Le Havre!, Tigris & Euphrates, Tikal, and Ra.

The implementations are fairly barebones but those are all excellent board games btw. Especially Le Havre and Tigris & Euphrates

I would normally just hit the subscribe button, but I was looking at Appshopper and it rekindled one of my burning hates about some developers for the app store:

Include at least one or two full-screen screenshots. Don't squeeze four shots onto one image! And preferably, don't put your images on some stupid background, either. I absolutely hate it... and they should be focusing entirely on me :)

Also, finally got Ascension's Storm of Souls update with Playdek's sale. A little disappointing because while the AI is OK with the first two sets, it seems gimped when it comes to SoS.

Hehe yeah you should give it a shot. Nice thing about async is it requires very little commitment. Also there's a very active GAF community. Only bummer is no in-game chat like Carc.

I've gotten so much value out of the game already. Haven't played a single multiplayer game, but that's going to change soon :)

You're the opposite of me... I've played maybe 30mins vs the AI but HOURS of multiplayer. You're missing out man.

I just picked up Ascension, and have played through a couple of games with the AI - really liking it so far, and I think I'll pick-up the expansions, too. Any reason to not get them both?

Focused on getting my act together against the AI first, but then I might try my hand at getting my butt kicked by you seasoned professionals (AstroLad, Smiley90 et al).

So is the Simpsons Tapped Out back up on the appstore?

My wife really liked the game when it first came out and was excited when I told her it was coming back.

I've done a search on the appstore but I can't find it? (Australian Store)
Have they only brought it back for the US Store?

Just a thought about Happy Street:

Does anyone see a point to upgrading the Dungeon to level 2 or 3? Now that the dungeon game gives flooz if you reach level 8, wouldn't it make sense to leave it at level 1 so it requires restocking more often?

I've heard similar things about the Fortune Wheel and leaving it at level 2, but maybe someone else who understands could explain.

I wish there was some news on Lili. They said weeks again they were in the final stages of development, but not a peep for almost a month.

It's been back up in the US store for a few days now. I'm not sure about the Australian store.

I've got a question about Dungeon Raid. I gather there are RPG elements involved by the way everyone is talking about it. But once you lose a game, do you retain anything you've gained (stats, levels, bonuses, etc.) from previous games when starting up a new game? Do you just start from zero every time and simply try to beat your high score? I honestly don't think I'd like it too much if I spent an hour on a game and ended up with nothing to show for it but a high score.

You're able to level up the individual classes, and those levels are retained across games. (Classes are leveled by finding special drops as you play.) I forget what the leveling actually does for you; I think it just gives you more freedom to tweak a class's skills to your liking.

I'm slightly confused about Rats/Wolves, what do they do? Eat a resource you have? Use up
A random resource on the field? Eat an adjacent resource? Can you predict what they do?

Rats randomly eat any plant they land on reducing it to grass, basically anything except for animals, wolves randomly eat only animals.

If there's a number on the wolf, thats the countdown till they jump on a random animal on the field and eat it. If there's no number, that means they're resting. (there's a building that increases the resting time) Rats are similar, but will only jump on grass/wheat/vegetables.

You can "kill" the wolves/rats by matching 3+. This gives you xp and doesn't consume a turn. Alternatively, you can just use the appropriate item to remove them from the field.

I figured out how to kick my Puzzle Craft addiction. Leave your IPad with your 7 year old sons and they will reset the game.

Gah, why is it so easy to wipe a game?

Bought Le Havre (since I already owned all the other ones), was expecting difficult UI on my iphone, and... wow, "difficult" is an understatement, I don't think I've ever seen a UI that cluttered. On the bright side, I play all my Playdek Boardgames on iPhone and hear people complain about that too, while I have no problems with it... So I'm sure I can make Le Havre work too. Played through the tutorial and it looks interesting enough, gonna play a bit and then dive into multiplayer.

aaah thanks, that makes sense. Gotta be more wary of them now...

I think they have done a good job of getting the information onto the screen. You only do one of a few things any way on your turn.
Pick up goods (offer space) or use a card (building). The help on the cards is useful and there is an undo turn option which allows you a bit of flexibility.
They seem to be active on the BGG forums and respond to user suggestions (they've added the ability to zoom the players resources).
I'd advise playing a few AI games with the help, allowing it to suggest moves so you can see how you build up to getting food, buildings and ships. Once you start to think your suggestions are better you are probably ready.

Yeah I'm not saying it's terribly BAD for a UI, as it seems like all the info is necessary, the screen is just definitely too small for a game like that, iPad would be way better. I feel like I'll get a hang of it, the tutorial wasn't too bad. I'll just have to come up with some kind of strategy for what buildings combo well and stuff.

...and I've lost my wife to Happy Street and Puzzle Craft.
Thanks a bunch Gaf!

... dude, I know the feeling, my Girlfriend hasn't put down Happy Street ever since I've shown her. She's so close to building the fancy Castle. I'm not even at the Mountain yet. :(

Gah, why is it so easy to wipe a game?

Happened the very same thing to my wife and her over 100 floor Tiny Tower.
She is still convinced I somehow explained our 3 years son how to do that.

I have no idea how I have so many posts in that thread, I thought my iOS gaming had levelled off... I'm very boring these days, I just play FFT and snes emulators (this is Dacvac's fault entirely, he ruined my life). TBH there isn't much on the platform that's tempting me recently. Of course I shall be all over Baldur's Gate like stink on shit but that's about it.

I shall have to do more random posts or piss taking to get my numbers up!

Ah shit, Puzzle Craft is more addictive than nicotine. Got the missus hooked too, she had her iPhone plastered to her sleeping face when I left for work this morning with Puzzle Craft still running.

It does carry a whiff of 'freemium' but not enough that I feel I'm hitting paywalls.

Oh wow, that's totally great. Warhammer Quest is like my childhood in box form, I doubt anything would really stop me picking that one up day 1.

Yeah, at last!!!!

Pretty excited for this one...I do not use hammers in Hunters 2 but I always though a fantasy game would be killer too with their engine.

So excited!!!
Screenshots are gorgeous.

But hammers are fantastic in Hunters, you're missing out. :P

A testament to just how much juice Puzzle Craft uses: Came home with a flat battery (from playing PC, natch). It charged enough to get to 4%, so it was all powered on and getting power from the powered USB hub. Didn't play PC for more than 5 minutes before it shut the phone down again. So is this the first game/app that uses battery more quickly than it charges? Certainly the first one I've seen first-hand.

I wonder if Warhammer Quest means there will be no more Hunters though? I need more hunters.
This.

I'm not really into the WH universe.

Like someone else posted, whenever I played Hunters 2 I tried to envisage it as set in the Aliens universe. Man, I'd kill for an Aliens skin for Hunters 2...

I used Starcraft, Predator and Bulletstorm references to construct my Hunters 1 & 2 teams personally. :P
