I could use some advice about headphones.
I'm not a purist so no 1K wooden headphones :P

I was looking even at wireless SMALL headphones (small, like the normal iPhone headphones, not the cup ones)...I know they generally suck but is there anything worthy recently?
I just want to get rid of the cable, I play in bed in every sort of position and it bothers me (not even mentioning wife :P).

Can't wait to get back playing Bastion!!!

these are the ones I own:

pricy but the best earphones I've bought, and I've been through 3-4 different brands. the bass response and overall sound quality are like having a surround sound system in your head.

AAAAAAAnd here we go. Trying to update through the iPad to stymie the inevitable errors that come when plugging into the computer and it won't let me, saying there's an error in installing the update. Godamn iOS and it's stupid updates!! Guess I'll have to undo the jailbreak first...

EDIT: backing up key saves from other apps. Why the fuck does Kingdom Rush not have a save file that I can find?? And godamn iExplorer and its dumb 5 folders limit and doubledamn it when it hits the limit before I even touch a folder! ugh.

I hate this.

EDIT2: ok time to restore. Oh wait, it's gonna update to the newest iOS at the same time? No, I don't want to do that because it will break. I know it will, I've done it a million times. And then I'm going to have to borrow my wifes netbook to re-update the pissing piece of shit and it will wipe the whole thing including all my saves including bloody damn Kingdom Rush.

Seriously fuck this, I'm thinking that Bastion might not be worth this palava.

Edit3: the weekend, I'll wait for the weekend... I'll have more patience then and won't feel so tempted to smash the bloody thing on the corner of my desk. For now: TWEWY

I gave in and bought TWEWY. I only played the first 2 days in the DS (the game wasn't mine), so I didn't remember much. Goddamn, Neku is an ass.

Use iFunBox instead of iEXPLORER, much better program, rock solid.
And unfortunately, neither I was able to find where KR saves are (wanted the iPhone version to be synced).
If you do, please tell me :)

No idea where they are! I just realised I'm gonna have to put TWEWY off till I update as well. I know how this all goes, everything will get wiped from the iPad whether I like it or not so I don't really want to be starting a new game now when I'll only have to redo it.

I really hate doing this >:(

Bastion is even more awesome with a trusty doing attachment. I recommend buying one of this things. :)

Haha. Suck it up and do it man! It's worth the hassle.

I'm not so sure, it means COMPLETELY wiping the iPad, all data gone. Having to resync the games having lost the saves. I don't know if one game is worth losing progress in a bunch of them. It's my stupid computer, somehow the iTunes install is gimped (most likely due to the deep buried pasts this harddrive has had in various machines I've had) and so any upgrate attempts result in a bricked device that I then need to plug into a different computer to fix. Blaaaaaaaaah.

Damn-there's a nasty IB2 glitch now since the Skycages update that prevents you from moving forward. And knowing CHAIR-it's going to be a long time before an update.

Man, episode 2 of Walking Dead was intense from beginning to end. So awesome! Give us episode 3 soon! I may have to cave and play through the first 3 episodes on my 360 instead

Probably a little too late, but iTools has a tool to backup all your apps, including documents... It creates ipa packages with everything inside... Really useful for your situation.

its fantastic for board games. When we went on holiday recently we wanted to take some board games in case of bad weather, and we could pretty much manage with just the ipad (forbidden island, carcassone, ticket to ride, labyrinth, boggle). Saved a ton of space.

Nice! Real board games are more fun multiplayer, but something has to be said about not having to set up and stuff. Not to mention you can play in a car.

What kind of idevice are you using? And which iOS?

Why don't you try upgrading to 5.1.1 right away without restoring? Sometimes it works, and can save you the trouble of reinstalling all your apps.

Not restoring from a jailbreak situation leaves a whole lot of dummy files lying around the file system and depending on the tweaks installed has the potential to brick the device. I wouldn't recommend it, Jedeye's device would explode from the sounds of things. :P

FF Dimensions graphics look a bit naff from the screenies, even the art looks pretty dull. I usually love everying FF but I have no excitement for this one.

Ah that sounds cool I'll check it out. Not done the deed yet so it might make the whole thing a bit less traumatic for me :)

I'm using iPad 2 on 5.0.1 but it's jailbroken. I would usually just update from the OS since it's really easy but it seems you can't do that on a jailbreak. And I can't undo the jailbreak without restoring the iPad and that in turn updates the OS which, in past experience causes "unknown errors" and results in the device being unresponsive, you can't even go into recovery mode.

So far the only way I've found of fixing the device is to then go into recovery using a netbook, but that counts as a separate library and so wipes the iPad and assigns it to a different machine. And then so when I go back to my desktop and plug it in I have to re-associate it with the desktop and re-install the apps from scratch.

I think this all stems from having migrated my iTunes library between various machines (probably ineptly). I tried to completely nuke iTunes from my computer and start again but it didn't seem to take and the errors still persist.

See, pain in the arse? Might be easier using the iTools dealie, I'll check it out before starting the process.

Dunno if this will help but I recently updated an iphone 3gs from 4.3.3 (jailbroken) to 5.1.1 and re-jailbroken. What I did was go to itunes and make a backup of the device. Then I downloaded the 5.1.1 software for the correct device from here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=8500

In itunes on the 'main summary' page for the iphone I shift-clicked restore which brings up a file browser where I navigated ot the 5.1.1 siftware and selected it. So the phone updated to vanilla 5.1.1. I then re-jailbreaked it with absinthe: http://absinthejailbreak.com/

Once it was jailbroken again I went back to itunes and clicked restore and chose the backup I made in the first step. This worked 100% and all apps and data was back!

That sounds like a solid plan, I'll give it a go. Cheers man :)

In the meantime I just played 10 mins of TWEWY and... oh dear, it's very Japanese, isn't it? I cringed one or two times and my missus told me to turn the music off. This is going to be an interesting experience...

Just played Bastion for about an hour and a half. I've played it on PC before (stopped about 70% through), so here's what I think:

  • Graphics are good, but definitely upscaled (not retina), still better than 1024x768. I was expecting full retina personally, so was kinda bummed.
  • Framerate varies depending on the level. Some levels are silky smooth, while others are consistently choppy (regardless of action.)
  • Touch control is doable, but mars the experience IMO. Virtual buttons are quite responsive.
  • Some obvious changes from the PC version: no button to use potion, and can't save them for later. You automatically use them as you pick them up. Consequently, they drop more often. Also, there's auto targeting even with virtual buttons, meaning you can't target a tower in the back if you're surrounded by monsters.
  • The atmosphere and the general experience is still intact. It was highly enjoyable, and these are but minor quibbles.

How is Civ Rev on the ipad? I have a strategy itch that needs scratching! :)
Really good. I dislike the game on iPhone, because of the graphics and presentation, etc. It's a port of the DS game (I believe), and it pales in comparison to the console games.

The iPad version was very similar until recently, but they updated the graphics and it performs much better now (on a technical front). It's probably my favorite version of the game.

Awesome! I will check it out. Thank you for the impressions!

I only have it on iPhone and think its great. Put quite a few hours into it. The graphics never really bothered me. They did update it a while back but u havnt played it since before the update.

What did the Puzzlejuice update do? Seems a little more stable/playable in game, but it's still weird and choppy in the menus.

Wow. 10000000 really is fantastic.

I'm a little frightened of it at this point.

Don't be. Yes, it's extremely addictive, but it's rather short (4-6 hrs.) It was a very fun experience while it lasted.

Just completed Granny Smith 100% all apples. Great stuff! I haven't had fun like that on a mobile game in some time. I can't wait for the level updates. I love the rag doll physics. Bravo Mediocre! 5/5

Bastion is so good! I thought my only chance of playing it would be on PS3 (don't have a 360 or a decent computer) when the XBLA exclusivity ended and if the devs ever even considered doing a PSN version. The classic controls are real good for this too; I like them even better than Mage Gauntlet's. This might end up being my 2nd favorite iOS game behind Spacechem Mobile, although I don't see any iOS game dethroning that anytime soon.

Also nice to see it as the #1 top paid iPad app in the store right now.

Soooo does anyone else apparently suck at zookeeper battle? I thought I'd be average at best... but shit, these people are whooping my ass left and right! Please tell me I'm not that horrible and that people are cheating t_t. Yet I still play... getting my ass beat lol.
