You probably have a 3rd generation. Did it say iPad 2 on the box?

You may not be able to tell if you have nothing to compare it to, but how sharp does text look on your iPad? I'm guessing you know this but higher screen resolution is the biggest new feature in the "new iPad" over the 2. How/ why did you make such an expensive purchase without knowing which model you were getting?

No it just says iPad on the box, it was an impulse purchase, I went to get one for my girlfriend, and decided I wanted one for myself. I typed the model into google and it says its the 3rd gen one. I wish apple would just put a little more info on the box.

I'm on the home stretch of Puzzle Craft (Saving up gold and accruing half a level to build the castle). After wrapping this up, whats a similar game you'd guys recommend?

Edit: Although I mentioned I wanted something similar, I'd ideally not like a slide-to-match style game again. Dungeon Raid plus this have me wearing a touch thin on that style of puzzle.

After you get the No String error, I'd suggest Puzzle Craft. Seems like it'd be right up your alley.

Holy hell, Funky Smugglers is fantastic. Shallow, but so good. The production values are shockingly high and the game just feels so alive. It's definitely my current Tiny Wings/Jetpack Joyride/Fruit Ninja-esque go-to game during quick breaks at work or when I'm taking care of business in the restroom.

Can't recommend it enough for the $.99 asking price. Speaking of which, what's the consensus on Polara? I see that it (very) recently jumped from $.99 to $2.99, so...worth it?

10000000.

Just watched a video on it and will definitely be purchasing, is there more than 1 skate park?
Not currently, but I find it hard to believe there won't be more in the future. The guys are those that were behind Jet Car Stunts and I'm pretty sure there were a few content updates post release for that one.

OH I GET IT

:)

only one from what I've played. tried it both on the ipad3 and iphone5 and they play both really well. kinda prefer the phone due to portability but I had no problem executing moves on either device.

Haven't played it yet, but Corpse Craft is free for a limited time. It's a port of a flash game that I remember had a lot of good buzz back when it was released and it has a lovely art style.

Apparently you are a liar like me because I had the same issue.

Is there a trick to the controls?

There is indeed a trick, it's called "being good at the game"

Here's a hint - when cornering, brake with both the handbrake and brake at the same time. The handbrake skids you and the brake slows you down, between the two there's a sweetspot. Nudge the steering into a drift, accelerate out of a corner.

It's odd and the physics are really weird. But it's the same game I remember.

If there is, I haven't found it (and I've successfully played other tilt racers like RR2, Sonic & Sega All-Stars, Final Freeway 2R)...

Do you also have an iPad2? Maybe it's bugged for that? It doesn't feel right even considering the comments about upgrades etc.

Edit: digital steering is far more workable, I've managed to win the first few races. I hope they fix tilt steering as I'd far prefer that.

Digital steering is indeed where it's at. Tilt would be far too innaccurate for a physics model that wants you to nudge not hold.

Just bought infinity blade 2, it's my first iPad purchase. There's to many games I wanna buy, but I don't want to overload myself and not finish the game. Also got carmageddon and its pretty fun, the car doesn't turn worth shit though.

Also I purchased "the new iPad" is that still considered an iPad 2?

Here's a thread for newbies with good games - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=494971

protip - Infinity Blade - not that great really. Beautiful but grindy and dull. enjoy your couple of days with it.

Also get used to not finishing games, it's how most people treat the system :P

"The new iPad" is an iPad 3.

I highly suggest y'all try Symphonica. It's really fun. I'm not a fan of iAP, and god knows I'm no fan of SE's policies on iAP, but I'm tempted here.

Grabbed Carmageddon last night and loving it so far but the sliding is a little worse than I remember it being - really helps getting those piledriver bonuses though

I hate American football, thank you Carmageddon for allowing me to vent :) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9MiEcpAW6o
Bahaha, nice!

I don't remember the exact circumstances, but there's a way to get powered up with the lightning bolt right in the middle of the football field. I wish I could remember how it's done, but you basically completely clear the field in a matter of seconds. So good (and so much time bonus!).

To those complaining about the controls: I apologise, I was far too used to the PC version with the keyboard to even think that people would consider playing with the analog options on iOS. My suggestion: don't. And don't use in-car either. Like Sniv said, it's a game that responds far better to taps than to graduated steering.

Edit: Yeah, this:

(I couldn't find this post to refer back to when I wrote what I did above.

giraffe 4 lyfe
Fuck yeah. Also, currently in the top 90,000 or so with about 1900 or so... points or whatever.

My goodness, I've been on an iOS binge of late. Just finishing up Broken Sword, already installed Broken Sword 2, same for Puzzle Agent 1 & 2.

I'm rather enjoying Carmageddon too. Digital controls all the way and it feels more-or-less how I remember the PC game playing on a keyboard. Tempted to IAP the full unlock just to provide some sort of support to the devs.

Call of Heroes has been massively overhauled since I last played it and the IAP seem far less aggressive. I finished the blood knight campaign without spending a penny and now I'm tempted to buy one of the other characters. In addition, it's now universal with cloud saves!

Bad Piggies is shit hot. That simple. Shit hot.

True Skate is amazeballs, landing tricks feels ridiculously satisfying.
Agreed. It took me a while to 'click' and I think it's still a little barebones but the actually act of 'skateboarding' is tactile as hell.

^^ I supported the devs by Kickstarting them. Perhaps you can do it by buying Carmageddon on GOG and then when the full game comes out on PC :)

All this Carmageddon nostalgia makes me lust after Carmageddon 2. Now that game was THE SHIT. IIRC it's the first game I remember to have proper 3d polygonal peds that could be dismembered and affect the physics of the car as you mowed them down. Truly the pinnacle of western civilisation right there.

I'm hanging for that too, but only because I never really played a lot of it.

Speaking of GOG/iOS-ish games, how good would a port of Powerslide be?

Very.

The core gameplay in True Skate feels perfect, it's really awesome.

Too bad it's completely barebones. It's just something to toy with right now. With the right content this could be amazing.

I was just going to say this, haha.

Also, is anyone enjoying Carmageddon as much as I am? I know the controls are pretty ridiculous, but there is a LOT to do in this game. It's perfect for little bursts of murdery goodness. AND it was free (and may still be?), so that's always a plus.

True Skate is a blast. It's just like Touch Grind only you can see where you're fucking going. Really fun to play around with, but the mission structure is pretty much a list of trick copy challenges and follow the shadow races.

Touch Grind devs preempted its release by announcing TG2 on twitter, no other details though.
