Just beat Sword and Sworcery, it's a cool game. I played the first half when it came out, got annoyed it wanted me to mess around with my calendar settings and never beat it. I forgot how simple it is, for all the praise it gets it's pretty much just walking around and clicking on things until you figure out the correct order, fighting the same few enemies several times, and not much else, but the awesome audio, visuals, and personality still make it stand out. Usually I roll my eyes at cutesy indie humor, but the writing is S&S is really charming, and occasionally cracks me up (Logfella/ Robert Ashley's line about blood sports and Dogfella's tweet about the different kinds of unknown are both made me LOL). Zooming all the way out looks amazing on an iPad 3.

Wario mentioned on Twitter earlier that The Room might be on sale for $2 tonight, I was curious to check it out so I've been keeping an eye on it but no dice so far.
I don't know if you did it this time, but there is a proper solution to that part hinted in the dialogue that doesn't involve messing with the clock (
there is a hidden cave where you can change the phase of the moon
). Advancing the device's calendar is actually frowned upon by the characters in the conversations with the ghosts.

Doing that is horrible though, easily the worst part of the game. Ridiculous to walk all the way back to the cave and do that boring fight every time, especially if you don't immediately realize that you need a full and new moon and experiment with other phases. Much, much easier to just change the settings.

I am confused as to how icloud game save sync works. I know the game has to support it, but is it tied to your icloud, Game Center, or Store account? I think I have Cut the Rope syncing but it doesn't show up in my Manage icloud settings.

DoDonPachi MAXIMUM looks interesting.

For someone who doesn't have any Cave shooters for iPhone would this be the one to grab?

And while we are on the subject...

Espgulda II HD, Espgulda II Arcade Version, Espgulda II HD Arcade Version, Espgulda II Smartphone, Espgulda II HD Smartphone.

My brain hurts trying to figure out what version to even think about purchasing. Can someone break this down?

So I'm trying this He Man game.

Man-at-Arms: "Those monsters caught me with my blaster down!"

HeMan: "Well...that happens to every He-Man from time to time."

lol wut

So is there a thread to share gamecenter id ? I must admit I never looked into the multiplayer side of things on ios but the forever alone experience is so overrated.

I have several excuses here.
For one I swear to god I'm one of the few gaffer who regularly read the OP.
And thinking this is the 5th thread my brain just presumed the OP wouldn't be top notch.
And yes, I'm an idiot.
Sorry :-S

If you have an iPhone 4 then the HD versions might be pretty choppy, but on other newer hardware (with the A5 chip basically) they'll run fine and look nice. Edit-DDPMAX actually runs pretty well on iPhone 4!

The "arcade" versions are just that, a port of the arcade version, while the "smartphone" ones are tweaked with a touch control specific gimmick. I don't care for them (in Esp.II and DDP:R) and just bought the arcade versions, but there are others that prefer them. The one without arcade/smartphone suffix have both modes. There's demos for it all I think so just try them out.

As for DDPMAX, I think it might be the one to get at least as a starter. It's tweaked a bit from the standard formula to be more phone gaming friendly, like it's separated level by level rather than a single run through all 5 in the usual games so you can sort of start/stop whenever. The only caveat with it I think might be the art style, I kind of like it (particularly after seeing all the little details in motion) but it's not for everyone. If nothing else I think enemies could stand to have more definition.

Re: Espgaluda, I think both Arcade and Smartphone versions are great, but I bought the game when everything came together for about $5. Scoring in smartphone mode is much easier to grasp, so I think it's a good way to get your feet wet. Arcade scoring is much deeper though (and more fun to pull off once you get the hang of it), but I almost wish I had a controller because turning shot on and off with touch is kind of a hassle when you're dodging so many bullets.

I guess I'd say buy both if you can. Standard looks fine on my phone, but if you've got an iPad I'd probably get HD.

I just looked at the list in the OP and started sending out requests. GameCenter now gives suggestions for friends (I think it's an iOS 6 thing) so once you have a handful of GAFfers it'll start suggesting others.

From what to what?

In Denmark they raised the prices from 6kr to 7kr per dollar. I think the actual exchange rate is 1$ = 5,76kr, so we were already paying more before the raise. The sad thing is it probably won't go down again.

It has to be said that in Google Play a dollar is between 6-7kr from what little I've seen, where as Microsoft has long held that it's 7kr in Windows Phone Marketplace.

Dodonpachi Maximum is super disappointing. The gameplay is as solid as ever but fuck if the art style isn't completely underwhelming. It starts boring to look at at 6 stages later nothing has changed. This is probably a game for the pure danmaku enthusiasts. For people like me who love the other Cave iOS offerings but are at the level where we can't really tell the difference between Mushihimesama Futari and Black Label, this is probably one to avoid :(

damn, only got like 60k. Any tips? What are your loadout?

I got this score with the most expensive loadout in each category, but was able to get around 125k several times with cheaper stuff that focuses on damage.

The key is not to mash and focus on holding a combo as long as possible. Work slowly enough to let enemies stack behind each other so you always have something to hit. Learn to uppercut and slam air enemies downward when there isn't much action on screen, keeping them tumbling in front of you. This way you can punch them forward into oncoming enemies to keep your chain going.

I am gradually turning my Punch Quest guy into Paul Daley Heel, since I think it's the sort of thing he would actually end up doing...

lol I haven't edited my dude yet but now I wanna make Bob Sapp.

I've tried that, and I never got added to the OP.

That's because Dash is... uh...... well... Good Question. Noone really knows. He's... somewhere. On that same note, where's Flunkie, I haven't seen him around... or maybe he's changed his avatar and I've just not noticed him. Those 2 were the ones taking care of the spreadsheet.

EDIT: Yeah, Dash hasn't posted in 2 months. Flunkie should still be around though, and from what I remember he can access the spreadsheet too. Try contacting him to get added!

Just came across this game:

Hot Beat
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hot-beat/id541790834?mt=8

It's a clone of DJ Max Technika. iPad only.

Comes with 4 free songs. There are 2 app purchases but they don't seem to be working at the moment. Songs are from anime btw. Not crazy about these songs but gameplay wise, I'm enjoying it. You HAVE to play on Easy first to unlock the other difficulties.

Better download fast guys. One Piece? Doraemon? Yeah, like they have a licence for that. This is going to be taken down. Surprised as iTunes shows it being available since the beginning of October.

Would it run well on an iPhone 4?

It runs fine. It struggles a bit now and then, but so do all the versions.

Not the ideal way to play it, but if it is your only choice it will do just fine. The main issue is ios is only up to episode 3, so you might be waiting a fair bit to finish the story.

Meanwhile my four year old daughter just came into the room.

"Guess what Dad? I got all the red teeth in Rayman in the first box"

Oh shit. I'm actually in the middle of downloading the game. Ah well. I've bought and thoroughly enjoyed every Cave iOS game so far with the exception of their original game, Bug Panic.

With DDP Maximum at least I've bought it at sale price. It'll be interesting to see how it runs on iPhone 5.

Starting today, apps are becoming more expensive to purchase.
0.79€ -> 0.89€
1.59€ -> 1.79€
etc..

Me too I noticed... Still a small upgrad but nonetheless... Hope this is not going to happen like on a yearly basis. Probably results of strong $, I doubht anyway that in case in the future € will become stronger we'll see a reduction...

Any other increase in other currencies?

Apologies if this is old news, but just in case there is someone out there who is yet to pick this up, Plants vs. Zombies HD is currently on sale for 99 cents.

'Brains', and all that, in pretty retina goodness for your iPad.
