I've owned IBII since launch but haven't played it. Have they fixed the save bug? Also, I heard that unlike IB1, they make it very difficult to survive if you decide to go to the next year/stage (forcing IAP) aquaria is only $3 though. It looks great. I also haven't played it despite buying it. :P

This is definitely not true, you get through it EASILY without buying any IAP. Also, save bug has been fixed a long time ago, and I think with the newest patch they've even raised EXP/win, making levelling up even faster, so even less need for IAP. There's definitely no need for that, and it's a great game, or at least a great graphics demo. I definitely had fun with it, and its repetitiveness is kind of its key element, if you don't like it, you won't enjoy the game at all, if you enjoy it, you'll have lots of fun with it. And it looks awesome either way. Definitely worth it.

Thanks for infinity blade impressions guys. I think I'll pick it up since its so cheap on freemyapps.

Mrbob (or anyone else), are the Max Payne controls comparible to gta3? Or are you saying they're more shit than that? Because I thought they were fine in gta3.

Are you able to repost the links, Spruchy? Wihio looks like he quoted by a copy/paste but because of the link shortening, they were broken.

Sure, here's the original post:

My dad made a game by himself using the GameSalad engine, it's probably not GAF's cup of tea but maybe some of you will be interested.

Also wrote a blog post on how it was made if any of you are looking to get into iOS development without any real programming knowledge:

Thanks guys.

They're worse than GTA3. You can't shoot and aim at the same time, and running is generally iffy lol. The game itself is pretty good though, so once you get used to the controls you'll be fine...

Alright, I need a new iPhone game.

Something I can finish in a few hours and is under 5 dollars.

Also it has to be good.

Hero Acsdemy is kind of slow. Is it all about building up your heroes before doing anything? Tips?

Management of your units, try to make all yours move so you do as much damage as possible while putting yourself in the least disadvantageous position.

Example: Sending an unupgraded archer to take out a fully equipped Wizard, even if she may die next turn, you still lost 1 unit for 4 of your opponents (wizard, sword, shield, helmet.)

Also try to stay aware of what pieces are remaining in your deck and your opponents. If you know they're low on healers you may want to kamikaze one of them knowing that they would lose the rezzing ability for the rest of the match. And go after crystals usually when your opponent is going into hardcore camping mode with a ranged unit that can attack 3 spaces away.

That's the cliffnotes ;] .

Decide for me GAF: Aquaria or Infinity Blade II?

I'm a fan of the first IB and metroidvania games but I can only get one right now.

I decided to get Aquaria because its been a long time since I've played a Metroidvania type game and I also never played one that reminds me of Ecco the Dolphin.

End Night HD is back and on sale for $2.
Haven't played yet, but seems to be pretty well received survival horror.

edit : oic, End Night dev has been on GAF
Thanks guys for checking out End Night. Thanks also for the great feedback, it's really helpful.

Was actually terrified about the game releasing so took yesterday away from the internet and went snowboarding to avoid reviews : )
Now I remember the talk bout this ... bought.

Played a bit of Aquaria; I know its a PC port but wow, its quite beautiful and serene to play through. Just got to the second save stone but there's spells, recipes and whatnot in a martitime world. very pretty graphics. well worth the $3. It doesn't feel like a cheapo iOS game.

endnight reviews are mostly 3 stars on itunes.

I just started this too and I'm liking it a lot even though according to reviews it's a bit of a slow start until you get more abilities. The music has been great and even though the story so far is pretty lean, the voice-work for the main character has been excellent. This is the first app where I really wish I was playing through it on a new iPad.

I want to buy gunman clive so badly, but I've just been burned by so many iOS platformers. I usually play them for about a day then never have the drive to touch them again.

I really want a get-what-you-pay-for platformer on iOS. Something that costs a dollar and takes a half hour to fully complete. That's why I loved that blast ball game so much.

I'll never beat that jazz platformer I bought, or beat sneak whatever. They're too long.

This is Gunman Clive, it takes maybe an hour or two to complete and it's great fun.

As for the other longer games... just play them in short bursts. You don't need to complete every game you play in one sitting! But yeah, Beat Sneak is an unexpectedly generous game, with the shadow levels and then the remixes at the very end. But I will finish it one of these days I swear.

Play Aquaria! I was in the same position as you, had the game for ages and barely played it. But this week I have been playing it all the time and it's wonderful. Unexpected depth and fun, and when you get used to the controls it's a really engrossing experience. I'm really glad I gave it the time, it's too good to ignore like I had.

Actually glad to hear that. We were quite nervous that people would think it was a bit on the short side!

Gunman Clive was short but sweet and I love the echoes of Mega Man. Just nice to kick back with on a lazy Sunday. I hope it does well, beril!

For some reason though, the last boss was really easy to kill. I brought in the gun that fires that purple jumping fireball, hopped off the fist to fire at point blank range and he instantly died. o_O

Can I have a Ravenmark code if I do?
That was the idea - PM me if you're interested.

Controls in Max Payne are shite. I'd save your credits for something else. Lots of different games available. If you like punch out, you should like Infinity Blade.

Infinity Blade sucks. Max Payne controls are fine... what exactly do you find wrong with them? You can adjust the position of controls and have aim assist. Ive had no problems here.

They're really really not. Try to move, aim and shoot at the same time. No aim assist can fix that for me.

I'm looking for a good space trading game, preferably with the focus more on trading than on combat. I'll be playing on an iPad 2.

Any suggestions?

My little cousin deleted Where's my watter? For some reason, so I reinstalled it but now I have to start from the beginning. =\

How does iCloud saves work? I was just missing some ducks in the last few levels. =(

Turn on 'Tap to shoot' and everything is fixed.

No it's not? You still can't move your aim and keep shooting at the same time. In fact, tap to shoot even have a downside, which is having to tap for each shot. Not fun with automatics.

Despite this control issues I've finished the game. Fun ride.

And out of curiosity, War Drum Studios (studio that developed the port) was kind enough to answear my email about not being able to aim and shoot at the same time and here's what they said:

Thank you heringer,

This has overwhelmingly been the most requested feature for the game. We're looking into it today.

Regards,
Thomas

Okay, I'm only on e first chapter and playing it on easy. I don't really need to, just run into enemies and fire lol, that's how I'm doing it. Maybe it will get harder but right now I really like it.

Yeah, what heringer said. I'm hoping for a fix.

If I enjoyed Game Dev Story and Epic Astro Story which of the other Kairosoft games are the best?

Pocket League Story and Grand Prix Story are like Game Dev Story, so those two. Dungeon Village (which is on Android) is apparently like Astro Story but don't take my word for it.

How legit is free my apps? How much of a hassle? How much do I have to use the sponsored apps?

The concept seems really sketchy, but there are a ton of people here singing its praises, so I guess it must be okay.

It's not sketchy at all.
It's advertising.

You download free apps for credit, the free apps shoot up the download charts giving them exposure they may not have gotten; you take your credit and redeem for paid apps, the paid app gets exposure and a sale they may not have gotten if you had to pay cash for it.

For the most part everyone seems to come out a winner.

Hi guys,

we're having a closed beta of Ichi. Who wants to join?

The beta is played in your browser, so no complicated stuff is required. We are looking for people who want to create levels using the editor and publish them for other testers to play.

If you want to join, just send me a PM.

Ichi gameplay video of the alpha version.

I downloaded Zen Pinball today and wow, the Ipad was born for pinball games. Playing the device vertical really makes you feel like you are looking down at a pinball table.

What other pinball recommendations are there?

I loved Zen Pinball until Pinball Arcade came out. The physics and game are far superior in Pinball Acrade. My favorite game on the iPhone. I dumped tons of money into the real tables in arcades when i was a kid.

Pinball HD, thank me later

I keep downloading this after people rave about it, I don't understand the appeal. The tables are gimmicky and the physics feel like you're playing on ice (off to me). I may be too old school, a lot of fond childhood memories come from the real tables in pinball arcade. Pinball HD doesnt compare.

This one, definitely. Buy all the tables and help fund the hope for Farsight to release The Addams Family drive! If you have an iPad 3, you'll have to wait for the new update to run it though, hopefully it will surface this week, along with 2 more tables. There's a free version so you can make sure it runs first to be safe.
