Warm Gun was added to the Because We May sale, it's also .99. It got some praise here when it came out a while ago, does anyone else remember/can give some more feedback/how is it now?

Last i heard it was pretty shit. The devs didnt update it for ages and it just faded away. Dont know if it has been updated now though.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Real Racing 2 is on sale. I doubled dipped and own it on iPad and iPhone now, ha. Game is an amazing racer for those who don't already own it!

Alright let's try this again, codes for Brainsss, if you get a code, let me know what you think of the game because we're working on an update at the moment.

Also codes are for the US only. Sorry about that, but I only have a US account.

thanks

I really like the look of Brainsss and the idea of a light strategy game. I'm only up to phase 3, but despite the different objectives the strategies don't vary a lot. Though I could be missing a few possibilities yet since I can't for the life of me figure out how 3-3 is possible. :)

The controls can be finicky. Because a large part of the game seems to be selecting a group and then splitting them up to corner/surround people, I'd like there be a quick way to select the 'other' half of a group you just spit up. I saw a 'select all' button mentioned. I'd rather see a 'select the other half' button to quick select these zombies.

Overall this is a cool little game that I'll keep playing:) I'd just like to see a bit more emphasis on the strategy aspects.

Looks like TA gave quite a good review to Slingshot Racing. I recommend it, easily worth the $1. It could benefit from a lot more content, but I'm not complaining. It's built around a really fun and rewarding gameplay mechanic that works perfectly for mobile/touch.

Downloaded the free Subway Surfers. Holy crap is that a good looking game. Looks like it's running at native iPad Retina res, and the presentation is top notch. Really really solid Temple Run style game with all the requisite IAP trappings, but fun anyway.

One thing that's somewhat spoiled me (I guess) with Temple Run that's not with Subway is that there's no tilt. I'm not usually a fan of it, but it just worked so damn well with TR. SS feels the same, but so much swiping :/

Picked up
Mega Mall Story
Gta:Chinatown Wars HD
Luxor Evolved
Fruit Ninja HD
Burnout Crash

Contemplating
Osmos
Real Racing 2
Super Bros: Sword and Sworcery

I'd have preferred tapping. A game like that could have large zones left/right/up/down. My finger always gets a bit uncomfortable with prolonged nonstop swiping

You're right, I quite like the tilting on the iPhone in particular, but I think the swiping works well enough on the iPad. I'm sure it can become unwieldy for high scoring though.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the game looks. I think they're rendering at full iPad retina and benefiting from some of that free high DPI antialiasing.

You people should all get Osmos. It really is a great game in whatever platform you get it, but the touch controls are top notch on iOS and make it the ultimate version. And there's some extra content with new modes in this version too. A real bargain with this May sale.

Hopefully the saved selections will solve the problem. I really don't want more GUI elements than there have to be. I'll think about it though.

As for 3-3, you have to time your rage activations especially early on. Make sure you clear out the enemies before moving on. Also, destroying objects builds meter.

If you're really having trouble there's no harm skipping the level.

those two games are good! Thanks for the recommendation!

I completely agree. I wasn't sure I liked the idea of even a select all button for that reason, but I'm guessing you had requests. It's just if you were to add one, that's what I'd add:)

And I beat 3-3! Did so well I got the overachiever achivment for it:). I'm not one who has to get all the stars, but I do like to play levels in order when I can.

Another great game. Thnk!

Code link is gone for me too. They could be out or they could still be working on the site again. I know they were having the problem where the site was spitting out codes that had already been used. One of the Half Brick guys had been posting on here asking us to test a page or two back. You could maybe PM him to see if codes are still actually available.

Plague Inc. (http://appshopper.com/games/plague-inc
) looks like a pandemic clone with minigames? Anyone know anything about it? It's only .99 and looks interesting enough that I might just buy it if it's not a complete ripoff...

EDIT: actually, the description sounds appealing. 50+ countries, more customization-options and disease types than pandemic AND from ground up made for iOS. Serious business, I'll give it a try later tonight and let yo guys know how it is. (if noone else jumps on it and gives impressions earlier :p)

Looks pretty interesting. Would love to hear with you think. It looks like it's not a universal app, am I reading that correctly?

Not Universal currently ... though dev posted the following on TA :
Absolutely - the current version will be upgraded to universal in the near future so you can go ahead and buy it now

I actually removed universal functionality before release because it wasn't done well enough. IMO - better to have nothing and then do it really well rather than do it in a crap way and risk lowering people's impression of the overall app. So - it will be in soon and when it is in - it will be very high quality

That's pretty impressive. Only a tiny percentage of the players have even gotten an Overachiever achievement.

Why does everyone keep spelling Autumn Dynasty as dinasty?

Edit: nevermind... a quick search reveals that Heringer needs to learn to spell. :)

So, my kids have finally plowed through all of Angry Birds, and we're looking to pick up a few games ahead of a long vacation road trip in a few weeks. They're ages 7 and 9 and lean in the casual gaming direction, but there's just a hajillion games out there and I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions for games or sites to help?

We have an iPad 2.

Just an FYI to newcomers like me, I am playing te bards tale and am finding it quite enjoyable. A full fledged rpg, streamlined a bit, but with a hilarious story. Voiced by Cary Elwes. Only played 4hrs so far tho.

See if Got Cow? suits you. Got it yesterday, haven't played much but similar mechanics to AB:Space. Free, iirc.

Here's what my kids are playing Ghal, they are both 7:

Ski Safari/Jetpack Joyride
Pocket Potions
Fruit Ninja
Subway Surfers
Cut the Rope
Skylanders: Cloud Patrol
Fish in Love

Oh shit! I didn't realize Loststar Tactics was the follow up to Tactical Warrior. I thought it was the follow up to Tactical Soldier. Tac War is one of my absolute favorite iOS games, and as soon as I realized my mistake I bought Lonestar Tactics ($1.99), despite it here being no had/universal version. After just a few minutes, it's clear this really is the follow up I e been waiting for.

Okay I played it for a bit, here's a short review:

TL;DR: Pandemic on steroids, a lot of fun, perfectly executed for the platform, a LOT of customization, everyone should get it, especially for the .99 launch price.

Longer:

There are 3 difficulty modes and 7 (yes, more than pandemic) types of infections. From Bacteria and Parasites all the way to nanoviruses and biological weapons, all with their special abilities. To unlock them all you have to beat the game with the previous type, standard stuff. The game starts. You pick your starting region, preferably something with a harbor or an airport. How developed the country you pick is plays as much of a role as how densely populated or how hot. There are A LOT of countries/regions to pick from, more than 50, I love it. But then the fun part begins. As the game goes on, yoy accumulate "DNA points", which you use for several things, more soon.

You get DNA points from a) your disease infecting/killing people, you get those points automatically. B) every time a new country is infected and sometimes randomly, a little bubble pops up that you have to click and collect points. It works well, trust me, and you get them often enough (if your disease is successful :p) to keep you clicking.

The core of the game is your disease. Like in pandemic, you evolve your disease with different characteristics that affect transmission, severity and lethality. Transmission will effect more people, severity and lethality slow down research by... Well, killing people. It's also the end goal :p if you kill everyone infected too fast though, then there will soon be no infected left and you fail :p

There are A LOT of options. They go from simple "heat resistance, air transmission, fever" to a whole TREE of stuff. If you evolve anemia, more options pop up that cumulate in e.g. Hemorrhagic shock or tumors. You can often get to a characteristic from different origibal symptoms, allowing quite a lot of customization. Overall, there are A LOT of options'ways to evolve your diseasr. And always keep in mind to develop some resistances against the cure research, or else you'll fail :p also, some characteristics increase the chance for spontaneous mutations, helping you along ;)

Boy, this escalated. TL;DR at the beginning, i HEAVILY recommend the game. If you liked Pandemic you'll LOVE this, if you never played Pandemic you NEED this. Ask me questions if you have any. ;)

Is this async and how does it look on new iPad?

Also is it professionally done in terms of art and UI or amateur hour like the other Pandemic clone?

Not everyone, just me. Sorry about that. :P

It's called dinastia in my language, so I often make this mistake.

I only mentioned because I've seen it numerous times like that in this thread, it turns out most of it is from people quoting you. Did a search for autumn dinasty into itunes, and nothing showed up. I thought I was missing something, but I understand where you're coming from.

Pandemic the flash game, not the board game, it's single player? Yoy ARE the disease, you don't fight it?

Also, i only have a 4S, but it looks great. It says it has retina ipad graphics too so i believe it will look the same. The map is similar to pandemic, also zoomable and you can click on all the regions to see the stats. The menus look AWESOME. Very easy to manouver, the selections are easily made and the statistics/graphs are helpful (e.g. How long until cure, which countries infected, etc.) the art design, especially in the menus, is excellent, definitely much better than the other clone, which was just a bad port. This was, according to the devs, made ground up for iOS and it really shows.
