The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

I've been playing a lot of Ichi and it's really awesome but there was just one level that really stuck out as odd to me.

I've beaten all of the first 3 pages of levels with an A ranking except 1. It's the second level on the second page and for the life of me I cannot get an A ranking. There is just way too much going on in that level and it's way too fast paced for me to think about what's happening. It just seemed a bit out of place cause no other levels have felt that way to me.

You appear to have benefited greatly from our promo code giveaways.

Unfortunately, GripShift won't be coming to mobile. The controls just aren't going to work on touch.

understandable, but still disappointed :(
Harsh truth stings!

I am looking at it for PC, but the team is completely tapped out at the moment, so chances are it wouldn't be seen before the end of the year.

going to double dip of ot happens

Shatter on the other hand will come to mobile/tablet..

HOLY FUCK! Shit just got real!! Ready to triple dip :)

Instead of overwhelming myself with iOS games, I've decided to take things one game at a time.

I just finished beating Inferno+ on NG+. NG+ wasn't TOO hard. It's possible to beat many levels by just using your shield. The shield regenerates very quickly so it's possible to go through enemies and find a safe spot just for a 2 seconds and you should have your shield fully charged (or just about), ready to go through more enemies and complete the level. Not sure if i'll go back and get the rest of the achievements.

Hearing many great things about Ichi. Might just be the next game I play.

Hoping more rhythm games come to iOS. Still not touching Cytus until the judgement patch comes, lol.

June 20th marks the release for Magic: Duels of the Plainswalkers for iPad. Check the TA app for details. I'm very very excited about this one!

We do have a game very early in development for mobile that is taking a lot of inspiration from GripShift and Speed Racer though, and includes work from several members of the GripShift team.

It will be very different to GripShift, but may be of interest.

Won't be out until early next year though outside of a restricted public Beta late in the year.

Good plan, but at least DL the great games when they are free/on sale in your iTunes so you have them for later. It's what I do, then slowly load them to my iPhone/iPad when I'm ready to play em.

Holy......holy....

Just finished playing Galaxy on Fire 2(picked it up when it was on sale last week). It's probably the most fun I've had with an iOS game yet(although I've only been iOS gaming since the beginning of the year). Just over 27 hours played, and finished with the best ship/gear/all achievements. I'll probably pick up the expansion at some point too.

I've just brought an iCade and it's a great bit of kit, looking at the list of compatible games on the Ion website and there are quite a few games worth getting.

Is that list complete and upto date? Any games that support the iCade have recently been released? Did Cave confirm they'll update with iCade support??

I'm playing Plague Inc., or I should say TRYING to. I got past bacteria with no problem, but I've tried Virus about 15 tomes and can't win. They always cure it before it kills everyone off. How do you win?

Agreed.

Regarding Cytus, I just feel like hitting things in beat puts me in a really odd position on the note. If they ever overhaul it, I'll happily play it again. Until then, Jubeat/Jukebeat are the clear music game champ.
You should try out Reflec Beat. It's not as good as Jubeat but it's still made by the same team except that it's directed by DJ Yoshitaka.

Here's a list I've been keeping:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=34357699&postcount=223

It's going to be added to the OP eventually and I normally keep it up-to-date. I actually need to update it now, haha. If you ever see anything missing let me know and I'll add it.

Get Gridrunner for your iCade, it's amazing with the stick and feels like a brilliant old school shooter on the cab. My most-played iCade game, aside from iMame.

Wish I could. The first tutorial level crashes 100% on my Ipod4

Damn. Yeah, I've had my share of crashing too, and others on TA are reporting the same. But keep this one on the back burner. It's definitely not one to miss. Someone put a lot of love into this game.

what is this called?

I would like to know as well. I don't know what to google exactly, haha.

Don't know if it's out yet, but the text says it's a Metal Slug game?
It's currently called "Metal Slug F2P" but there's not much info for now. It was announced this E3 for iOS and Android, coming later this year.

If you device is jailbroken, then you can use iCade near every apps. (Virtual D-Pad/button is better suitable).
Just get Blutrol from Cydia. It mark its on-screen joystick and buttons to most apps.

I can't figure out the fungus one after virus :(

What I did with virus was only put points in ability and transmission. It mutates effects on its own. The key is to get it to be extremely infectious before people start taking it seriously I.e. before it mutates into a killer. Then once the world is infected start killing people. I started off in the UK since that has a lot of traffic in and out and was easier to infect everyone to slow down the research on a cure.

Choosing Ichi as my next game to beat might have been a bad choice, haha. Not because it's a bad game. I think it's great. Love puzzle games and making my brain think. Such a well done game..but games like these drive me CRAZY! Lol. Currently on page 3.

If you check out and like Fabled Lands you should just consider buying Fabled Lands II Gold which includes the first two games and is on sale for $5.

Thanks for the heads up! Epoch has been great so far.

I've been eyeballing this controller from 60beat, but the compatibility list is small thus far. Is the method you mentioned specific to the iCade, of do you think Icould get similar results with this alternative controller?

Never knew controller through audio jack is possible.
Anyway unfortunately, I don't think it will work on Blutrol because Blutrol designed for most bluetooth controllers with iCade signal mode only.

For example - iControlPad can do iCade mode, and will work on Blutrol.

Blutrol 2.0 will support more bluetooth controllers, and BTStack support which mean Wiimote can be use in next update. Hope it will come before end of June.

788MB Is it woth it? ( i know its free,but...)

Short answer, for most, probably not.

Long answer ...
I suppose it would depend on how excited you are about gamebooks in general or this property in particular.
The primary problem people have with it is that there are a lot of quest areas that are kind of dead ends because they extend into Part 2 (or further unreleased volumes) ... so if you happen into one of these branches you will be prompted to buy the second installment or be advised that the content will be in a future installment.

That said, they seem to be a very good implemation of the series and one of the best in the genre.
The art looks particularly crisp and nice to me on my iPad and there seems to be a relatively decent amount of content available.
Being a gamebook title they are of course extremely text heavy.

But to top all that off, though, it seems now that the series from this dev will not be completed at all and these will be removed from the App Store, as they posted this over on TA today :
Hello.
I am the manager for Megara and Fabled Lands.
We did not intend to lower the price that much or to set the first app free.
I did it because the authors have decided that :
- My company Megara will not design any other Fabled Lands apps in the future
- Our license for the first game will not be renewed and on July 20th the two base apps will be removed for the store. Fabled Lands II will however be allowed to stay on the store one more year after which we'll have to remove it as well.

The authors have taken this decision based on 2 factors :
- Our fabled lands apps were the most profitable gamebook apps ever designed on the app store but they thought it was still not profitable enough.
- They wanted in the hope of more profit to relaunch the Fabled Lands apps but with a developer capable of doing it on all platforms at once not only Apple. Megara was not in a position to do this as our coders are mainly iOS coders.
I have heard that the new version of Fabled Lands 1 by that other developer will be out this year. Megara will have nothing to do with it and we have not licensed them anything like our art.

I was sad to hear that, and my team was sad too, but that was the author's decision only - Megara had even started FL3 production when we heard the bad news.

Spent more time with O2Jam S. Does the judgement window feel a bit loose to anyone else? It's not on Cytus's level but I still shouldn't be able to do stuff like this (even knowing this is the easiest of three difficulties... it's a grind to unlock the other two and judging by the leaderboards, less than 10 people have done so so far):
