The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

The game description is written like a copypasta of some other game translated to mandarin & back to english.

Who's willing to take the plunge?
Haha, yeah. I got it but haven't had a chance to try it yet (at work right now). I was surprised at how good it looks some weeks ago but I was waiting until it was on sale again.

I started futzing with Swordigo too. Very addicting. If it had a more "retro" look instead of the gaudy terri-bad 3D it would be a hit, easily.

I 100% Where's My Water so I'm just poking at small stuff. Playing Guardian Saga at work to get my RPG fix.

I bought Brand New Boy as well, but it crashed while I was poking at menus (Touch 4) so I'll try again later.

Is there a UK alternative to FreeMyApps?

yeah, it's a getafuckingjob.co.uk :P

Ey!

What recent iOs games are you playing now?.

Speaking about me:

Head Soccer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqZvdT5nBUk
Supermagical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfC6oNgN7dY
(Spain only, sorry)
Swordigo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAeOsrlNDmQ

And you?

Currently playing World of Goo iPad (great, way better than iPhone), Contre Jour (yaaawn) annnnnnd... that's about it I think. Shit, I think I killed my backlog, this is worse that I thought.

I have a couple of bastard hard levels in Beat Sneak Bandit still, and there's always FFT (which I don't know if I can be assed with, due to various issues that have led to me playing the first 20 hours three times now, I'm sick of it).

Finished (or rather, had enough of) Slingshot Racing recently. It's a nice little game, looks gorgeous but if anything it's a little too long and lacking in a real challenge to make me keep coming back. It's hard to get 3 stars in each race, certainly. But it's not entirely fun to do that. The actual mechanic is nice though and it's an inventive take on the racing genre.

Oh man, this is poop, I need more games to be playing... :( I did see that Modern Combat 3 was on sale, maybe I should buy that for some cathartic Gameloft bashing (or out-of-character praising, who knows?).

Is that... a fighting rhythm game?

Edit: Trailer (btw my last assumption was going off the screens on the app store... completely useless)

Kinda. It's a pretty good game, I would recommend it at that price. Good touch-controls, grinding for points, replaying levels for time and no-hit achievements, decent loot, it hits the right spots if you are looking for an action RPG-lite experience.

And you?

Thanks. Supermagical looks great. Will wait for its international debut. I am occasionally probing humans.

Has anyone heard anything about the Lunar port for iOS. It was last shown over a year ago, and it was shown once before that as well. Since then, there has been nothing. I was really looking forward to playing it on my iPad, but it seems like the port might be dead. Has anyone heard anything?

Started Squids over last week on my phone after losing my progress on iPad in the switch from the 2 to the new iPad. I hope to finish it up in time for WW (no way I 3-star everything before tomorrow).

There are some nice releases this week. Just hold on a little longer!

I was wondering because their next Spiderman game comes out this week, hopefully they've smoothed some things out for this one then.

I'm sure it'll be fantastic, they're a high quality dev who are always pushing the boundaries of what ios games can be. Or something.

The 3D rithim game is pretty shit, it looks like the heat, but you don't really get any sort of feed back whatsoever from the things you touch. Groove coaster is still the best one out there in my humble and awesome opinion.

Sure it's no Groove Coaster or jubeat, but I like Tone Sphere. It's way better than Cytus or OSU! (I don't care how 'hardcore' it is, I don't find OSU any fun).

Tone Sphere does give you feedback, it's just hard to notice during the hectic gameplay. (The combo number sparkles on a perfect, and becomes dull on a near miss.) This is definitely my biggest complaint.

Dead Trigger is also being released this week. Excite?

None of the achievements I get in Brandnew Boy are registering in GameCenter, even if the game says I did it. I even deleted the game and reinstalled but no dice. First Pocket Planes with this bug and now this, it's frustrating. This sucks because I enjoy going after the GC achievements in these mobile games as they're usually just a short list and reasonable to collect.

I know more people were having trouble with the Transatlantic achievement in Pocket Planes, but is anyone else having this problem with other games?

edit: well, looks like GC is getting messy. I just looked at my friends list and everyone has "Never Played" below their names instead of the usual last played game.

Oh wow that's beautiful (for a zombie game). If it's not too expensive I might well try it, even though FPS games aren't really my bad on iOS. What else is dropping this week anyway? That Cthulu game is out, right?

For one second i thought Ubisoft is already porting ZombieU to iOS devices :lol

Posted literally before you did. :-P
I did a double take thinking he accidentally double posted.

Punch Quest looks nice and all, but I think I've got runner-game exhaustion. You can really only change the gameplay up so much in that genre.

I like how the scope thing (erm, they look like red dot sights to me so they shouldn't have any) reflection is the same in different places.... That doesn't even show any crosshair or anything, how does it play? On rails with swipes/taps on the zombies? Videos?

Edit: there's Android & Tegra 3 footage on the tube, it's a normal zombie FPS. Are the Tegra 3 features possible on iPad 2 etc? Not that I'd get it, I've had more than too much clumsy FPS on iOS to last me a lifetime thanks to good old Gameloft and iOS fan hype... Although this does look considerably more accomplished visually, at least on the Tegra 3 showcases.

You cheeky little shit! I have a (very good) job thank you very much, but it'd help justify trying out games I have little interest in but are recommended on here.

More importantly, it offers a great service for those people who may not have a job, who are still in education, too young to work, etc etc - both of my little cousins have iPhones and iPads which is one thing, but my uncle doesn't throw loads of money at them to buy games etc on their devices, so it'd be perfect for them too.

hahaha I am indeed a cheeky little shit :D just think of it this way, me taking the piss out of you for being a tightarse is the price you must pay for free games! But I always go back to the point that most games are cheaper than a snickers these days. And kids still buy sweets!

You're not wrong, the price point of most iOS games certainly makes it easy to just take a punt on them, although I have a rather strange urge (and always have) to play pretty much any game that is regarded as good... if anything time is more of an issue for me (probably spend 5 hours a week tops playing games, and have over 300 unplayed games on my iPad) than cost anyway!

For games such as Soul Calibur or some of the other pricier ports though, the EA titles etc, FreeMyApps is appealing though, especially since most people that buy them end up regretting it.

Try freeappdaily. You have to use Safari (or whichever iOS browser you use) and log in through facebook, but it's a lot less hassle than freemyapps. You don't have to play their sponsor apps for a set time -- just open them -- and the gift apps are usually the latest, most popular stuff. Only drawback is you can't choose the gift apps -- there's usually a new one every day or so, sometimes more than once a day.
