The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

This is not true: I've seen an app rejected because there was a cartoon girl drawn from behind, and you could see a bit of the underwear from under the pants: REJECTED
Also, another app wanted to give all the proceedings to a charity: REJECTED (you can do it, but you cannot write that in the app or on the App Store)
An app I made myself read a feed of news from an indie game website (Indievault), and Apple rejected it because one of the news was a simple contest IV was making internally. They said you can't put contest in apps, and you cannot use Apple products as a prize, something we were not doing anyway: REJECTED (for this one, by the time we resubmitted the news was old so it didn't show in the app anymore: APPROVED :D)

There are a lot of legal things, and also I guess it depends on the single person that reviews the app... how does he feel that day.

I think he/she was merely distilling the idea that Apple does very little to protect creative properties. What you list up there is Apple protecting their own ass, not the actual devs/publishers.

When you consider that stuff like iMame and Mole Kart made it on to the app store, that Apple really doesn't have a clue what it's approving sometimes.

Confused with Ticket to Ride. They put Asynch only on the iPhone Pocket ($1.99) version and not the iPad ($6.99) version?

I don't have the pocket version, anyone know if it's any good or enough people playing it online to make it worth buying?

I read them say iPad version provides extra challenges to support asynch to iPod/iPhone devices. So, it may be coming, but, right now, only the 1.99 version has asynch.

I don't have it, but, certainly asynch makes it interesting to go along with Carc, Asc and HA.

So I knew I didn't have Oh Edo Towns or Pocket League Story yet, but I'm also missing Venture Towns. Anyone wanna weigh in on that one? It's on sale for $1.99 so I'll definitely buy it but curious to hear GAFfers thoughts.

Well I will be holding my hard earned monies until the iPad version has async!

Since you're back into board games talk, any thoughts?
Are there more games like Elder Sign: Omens HD that kinda give an interesting replayable RPG-ish feeling than just plain board game moving pawns about with see-through rules etc vibes?

There's a game named Temple Jump, with a strangely familiar icon. It only has 1 pic (which is the title) in the description. Sounds like a bargain for $0.99!

Ancient temple is waits for it hero...No time to run...it is time to jump!!! Most addictive endless jumping game in the appstore. Easy to play but hard to master! Win all game center players in this amazing game!!!
Seems legit.

Threw away a buck on temple jump out of pure curiosity to just see what it actually was, since there was only one pic. Was totally expecting a boot leg version of temple run and a little surprise that it wasn't. Turned out to be something that hardly passes for a game. Man this is some cheap stuff.

Ha, ha. See, it's like a fucking car accident. Even though the reviews let you know it's trash, people can't help themselves. They have to rubberneck. :P

Flickpig is free but it's been "modifying" since last night. wtf. App Store seems screwed up to me still too, it'll tell me I have 5 updates to get then suddenly the updates are gone from the page

Wow, good luck. If you actually accomplish that I'd be very impressed. There's no way I'd have the patience.

I had no idea Touch Detective was released for iOS devices. Never got around to playing it on the DS.

I loved touch detectives .-. I see it getting hate online but it really was a fun title. I'm still hoping for touch detective 3DS.

That said, I just couldn't appreciate the game on iOS. given how often you're just tapping the screen to find a hidden item... It felt way more repetitious (which it can be at times) on a iscreen device versus the ds with a stylus in hand. The small change in control method just killed the experience for me.

Had no idea that Touch Detective was on iOS either, the first one was fun and quirky but I never got around to playing the sequel.

I'm not that far now, only a bunch of helmets, a few swords and a couple of rings (ok there's still a lot lol, but I hit a nice flow). I honestly thought it would take longer but if you keep a gold+++ helmet on you get a whole more money, and high level armor gives you a good boost in the XP gained too (haven't bought any IAP as it would make the grind pointless to me).

I like all the grinding for some reason, now that I'm done with Tiny Tower it became my "go to" game for really quick playing while I'm waiting in lines and such.

How about they "update" the second one so it basically doesn't require you to purchase IAP to get the most out of the game? Bastards.

Do you think it'd be a problem for someone who has never played? Think of it as you never played it on the DS and the iOS version was your first time.

I don't mind grinding at times and even did quite a bit in Infinity Blade, but there's just so many items it seemed. Like, I'd probably hate the game and its sequel if I attempted that, lol. But I guess doing it in short bursts rather than long sessions would make it tolerable.

This game looks really fun! thanks for mentioning it. Getting the same massage as well though.

WTF. Both Grand Prix Story and Pocket Academy are down to .99 so I was going to buy them. Everytime I try to buy I get a message:

"This item is currently being modified. Please Try again later.

Has/does anyone else have this problem?

That happens when prices are getting changed, it usually doesn't last more than 30 mins, try again later and it will work! The appstore needs a bit of time to register price changes and to be able to process purchases shortly after.

Hmmm. Its been a couple of hours, but thanks! Nice to know its not something major screwed up with my account or anything

Those update notes you quoted are for the October 2011 update... looks like they didn't bother updating the app store description. Per the official forums, this patch was mostly bugfixes and added additional localizations.
Ah thanks! I was on the road with a low battery and no wifi, so I didn't update as soon as I got the notice and just trusted the description in the e-mail. Interesting that it got a Brazilian Portuguese localization (considering the BR app store still doesn't have games *whine whine*), I'll check that out.

The app store seems bonkers in these past few days, I wonder what's up.

I wish it was something better. The last time they did the 5 credits thing it was on Instapaper. Pretty useful app

I missed out on that saw ur post too late and freemyapps didn't work until it was over =(. Course I've since taken advantage thanks to last weekends promo. I must say its extremely convenient that everyone I kno has at least one iOs device :P lol.

I'm having problems trying to download some stuff from the store. There all being modified (Pocket Academy, Gran Prix Story and Flickpig) since last night.

The App Store was acting up during the holiday. Could perhaps be heavy traffic. There's been some good shit coming out this past week.
