A little disappointed by the lack of sales (Gameloft seems to be only big one). Was keeping my fingers crossed for Infinity Blade 2 to drop a little

Hope shines bright!

Man, I lost interest in this game completely. It's been like...3 months now?

Yeah, same. :/ Last time I touched it was in January, around the time they started talking about the update. Shame it never came, competing in this game was very fun.

it's gross. very simple but a perfect balance of precise skill based elements and rpg progression to keep you hooked. i like how i'm regularly scoring 35+ yarders like i'm c. ronaldo yet i'm still stuck in league 2 though.

I'm not sure if it fits what you're looking for, but maybe give Incoboto a chance. It's a platformer/puzzle game which, despite the dubious controls, leaves a lasting impression(or at least it feels like it will. The game is not that old). You explore the remains of a dead universe with a sun as your companion and.. Well, maybe I shouldn't say too much. It's just strangely evocative and certainly worth supporting. Despite the aforementioned controls.

King of Dragon Pass might not be a bad choice either:

I keep editing because I keep remembering more recommendations. Recently Waking Mars was released and though I've only played it a little it seems to fit the bill:

Like Incoboto there are some control issues.
Mandatory iPAD experiences:

Osmos
Galcon and/or Eufloria
Waking Mars
Beat Sneak Bandit
Plants vs Zombies
Kingdom Rush
Land Air Sea Warfare

Some combination of these games manage to stay on my iPad (along with Super Brothers: Sword and Sworcery), whenever I'm rearranging or wiping off apps.
Thanks! I'll look into these... I haven't heard of most of them.

I've managed to work my way up to West Ham, loved every minute so far. Best 69p I've ever spent.

THE LAST EXPRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!
YES!!!
YES!!!

My all time favorite adventure game!!!

I suggested two years ago a port in the very Jordan Mercher blog and in today announcement he even thanked me (I'm Stefano in the list).

I can't wait....I'm celebrating showing my wife my original The Last Express box in mint condition (it goes without saying she obviously think I'm totally mad).

I find it a little silly that I can get a 3 rating because I've only touched the ball three times and each time was a pass. Their rating engine seems a bit flawed. I also think it takes too much energy to train especially since there doesn't seem to be an "offseason."

I'd like some impressions too. Need more retina iPad games!

Do updates come out daily, or is it whenever apple feels like flipping the switch?

I'v only played like two missions so I can't give you much right now but it looks great on an iPad 2 and controls pretty well. You have four control options (an advanced and casual accelerometer and an advanced and casual joystick). Seems like there are a lot of planes (40 I think). Around 10 story missions with plenty of other modes like TDM, CTF, etc. I haven't gotten to play online yet.

that mainly happens if you go for a low workrate because you've expended energy on other stuff or have bad team relations though, which is an okay balance for me. i do agree about the training though, it's frustrating and gets a little too close to zynga style f2p stuff as you can buy ingame currency to speed it up with in app purchasing.

Er, Azkend HD is 3.99 and Azkend 2 HD is 2.99, what gives? No free stuff for iPad it seems, tried the iPhone freebie and it's cool.

These are all pretty good.

Starfront: Collision
Spider-Man: Total Mayhem
The Adventures of Tintin™ - The Game
Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation

Dunno about the other titles you're mentioning but it boggles my mind how people constantly say how Spider Man is a good game.
It might be considered decent in some alternate universe where the iPad is the only gaming device left on earth, and even then I wouldn't recommend it.

Had to do a double take. Thought this was Jedeye.

Compared to many, many iOS games, Spider-Man is definitely "good"

Eat on that fart, son.

The iNiS Android game Eden to Greeeen that was announced recently is also coming to iOS:

I need a new tower defense game for Ipad.... already got:

Plants Vs Zombies
Tower Defense HD
Defender Chronicles
Field Runners
Sentinel 3

.... what else do I need?

Like others have mentioned Kingdom Rush, but aside from that I'm having fun with Samurai Bloodshow these days. Just know beforehand that it's a little grindy.

hows infinity blade 2, modern combat 3 and asphalt 6 on new ipad?

IB2 is freakin' fantastic. Clearly runs at full res. (Hold it up to your face to see what it would be like playing on a 100" HDTV lol). Also runs great, in my time with it I got absolutely no choppiness while speeding up cutscenes.

MC3 seems to run about the same as it does on iPad 2 just sharper. Planning to load it up on an iPad 2 to compare the frame rate later.

I can't do the in-app purchase for that soccer game everyone is talking about - it stalls on the loading portion (with the star rotating in the corner) on both my ipad and iphone :/

I'm not quite sure what Vision/Free Kicks/Technique do actually... Anyone that's further along in the game could please explain that to me? :/

Can you get a refund on IAPs?

New Star Soccer has taken the money for career mode (even got an email from Apple about it) but it didn't unlock. Now it seems to crash on startup every time, even after I deleted and reinstalled it.

Is there some sort of syndrome whereby when someone asks for tower defence recommendations, everybody forgets to mention Defender Chronicles? AKA the best tower defence game ever?

There's an update for it coming soon, which (might) fix it, I'd wait a couple of days anyway.
Ah okay thanks, I'll wait and see then. It's only 69p, just annoying as now I can't play the game at all, never mind start a career. Resyncing it via iTunes to see if that fixes anything.

Wow. iPad 3, iOS 5.1 has a day 1 untethered jailbreak. It hasn't been released publicly yet but... awesome-sauce.

I happened across Surviving High School today and immediately feel obsessive about it. I played the male character's campaign in the free version and I really enjoyed it. It's a visual novel with well paced mini-games. The football mini-game is not incredibly deep, but I was anxious to do well because the story feels vulnerable to your performance. If dating-sim elements make you gag, then you might want to stay away. I thought it was awesome though and when I hooked up with Raven, I laughed a few times and was surprised when our conversations approached the complexities of social stereotypes.
There is a good chunk of game available for free and then you can purchase additional episodes from a back-catalogue. They also come out with episodes that you can play for free every Friday, but I haven't played any of that yet.

Dissapointed in Galaxy on Fire 2 HD performance on the iPad 3, sure they usdated it for retina, but that means little if it's not optimized. It ran much better this morning and still looked good, looks better now, but the frame rate is shit. Anyone else give this a shot yet on the 3rd gen?

It is a very good TD game imo, but like Samurai Bloodshow, it can be a bit polarizing with the steep difficulty curve and heavy leveling / item / RPG aspects. We got a few screens from the sequel a while ago, I don't think they were ever posted, but you can see them here, and a bit of other info in their forums, but I am not expecting it to come out any time soon... eventually out of no where I imagine it will surface (probably 2013 lol).

Kingdom Rush is getting a lot of well deserved praise now, in some ways the gameplay reminds me a little of Defender Chronicles, but bird's eye view rather than vertical 2D, with the buildings putting out fighter units that have hp and tie up enemy units while your other building can take them out just like in DC, only there's a bit more going on sometimes with the hero powers, but a whole lot less of the loot/leveling.
