I've always been wondering why Kairosoft tends to prefer the Android market. I was browsing it on my phone and there are like 4 games that came out on Android in the last couple months. Two new releases are Dungeon Village and Epic Astro Story:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m5ldC5rYWlyb3NvZnQuYW5kcm9pZC5ib3VrZW5fZW4iXQ..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...C5rYWlyb3NvZnQuYW5kcm9pZC5mcm9udGllcl9lbkwiXQ..

I'd like to get these on iOS, but I don't know if they are coming any time soon?

what's so bad about your android phone?

I always found kairosoft stuff to be perfect commute games. Can easily be played with one hand standing on the train/bus.

Really?? The Astro Story in the Japanese App Store will run in English? Hmm, might go pick up a 1500yen iTunes card.
It is indeed!

Though I bet it will be out in the rest of the world in the next week or two if you wanted to avoid using 2 different accounts.

Thanks for the heads up, Mario. This development side stuff is always interesting and MAMC is one of my favorites.

Any recommendations for a decent story-drive adventure game on iOS? Preferably not a re-released classic (already played most of those)

So... ESP Galuda and DoDonPachi felt awkward and cluttered on the iPhone... but they're AWESOME on the pad... just one thing... I'm rocking out the lite versions just to try them out... I don't quite understand why I die. I have lives left and all that and suddenly it's just "game over"... what the hell?

Also, which one is better? Galuda or DoDonPachi? Or any third one...

Silversword seems nice for free, it might even be better than the likes of Undercroft, but they could have done a better job with the GUI, there's a ton of space available yet you still have to go to sub screens for even the most basic of information, like even seeing if your party is at max HP (the HP are shown in the main screen too but as just a number, without the max for each member). It could use lots of other conveniences like when in shops being able to sell items everyone carries without having to choose which one first, and other such things. And even the movement buttons are just awkwardly placed on top of the rest of the GUI as you enable/disable them at will (why you'd disable them I dunno, other than in battle etc, as it's the only method of movement).

Undercroft is definitely superior looking. The UI is better, and you actually see the faces of your party.

Zenform looks interesting. It's an upcoming Pokemon-alike with some extra stuff.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

"Enoth" was actually the name of my main character in Lord of the Rings Online which I chose totally randomly when I created it.

Here's two questions:

1. What's the best Zenonia style game?
2. Is there anything like the MegaMan Battle Network games on the app store?

Thanks as always!

If you're dying with no cause, it's probably a Lite version limit.

They're all great but I'm most partial to ESPGALUDA II.

I'm the only one that thinks Zenforms looks shit? The monster designs are some sub-par Pokémon rubbish, and it really harms it. If you can't design your characters as well as Nintendo can, then you need to approach it from another angle. They look stupid, they have stupid names, and they're not nearly as well put together or well thought out as Pokémon are. It's like they drew something that looked a bit like a Pokémon and gave it a random series of letters as a name.

Some people just want to play a game like Pokémon, this is probably for them. I'd rather play a GOOD game like Pokémon, and this isn't looking good right now.

On another note, here's a tip I just got in NSS:

Nah, I don't like it either. I think it's just not viable for any dev to make a decent Pokemon clone. Designing and balancing 100+ monsters and even more attacks must be hell.

MinoMonsters was a step in the right direction design-wise but the gameplay is just so fucking dull. I appreciate it when devs try something new and give it their own spin but there's a reason why Pokemon is so popular, the core game is perfect.

I'm in Italy Series A, finished on top with a stupidly high gap to second, yet haven't seen anything like a finish screen or similar.

Am I the only one playing Gridrunner?

I'm number 2 on the Pure leaderboard :)

Haven't been playing it lately because the games are too long when going for that top spot and I'm not interested in the casual scoreboard. I could play a game in segments instead of all at one time but I'm afraid of my iPad using up too much memory and having the game reset when I go back to it.

thank god I didn't buy this after throughly enjoying super stickman golf. I hate tilt controls with the burning rage of a thousand suns and I hate mandatory tilt controls even more. I feel that games with tilt controls should have a big fucking sticker stating "ATTENTION: THIS MIGHT TURN OUT TO BE COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE IN REAL WORLD SITUATIONS". slick presentation, neat idea, rubbish to play - at least for me.

Can you actually play Battle Loot Adventure without IAP?

I've not had any need to dip into any IAP so far .... and am a little over 1/2 way through.

Far as I can tell IAP is just gold and that can be got replaying missions ... I'd say IAP here is an accelerator but far from a necessity.

Am I the only one playing Gridrunner?

Not at all, there were a few of us (admittedly a very few) going nuts over it when it released. But the GAF hype machine is merciless, and if it's not by Kairosoft, Square or Cave it's quickly forgotten about.

For the record, I think this might be one of the very best shooters on iOS, it's sublime retro insanity and (controversial opinion alert!) I think it pisses all over the Cave games from a great height in terms of the fun I've had playing it. It's hard without being punishing, crazy without being bewildering and beautiful while being ugly.

Shamefully overlooked by most.

After basically ignoring iOS gaming since the AppStore first appeared, the idea that iPad games might be a good way to pass the wait for nextgen, meant that the topic needed a bit of research. Although familiar with Cut The Rope, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Plant vs Zombies and Infinity Blade etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of iPad titles that caught my eye.

I’ve always liked Tower Defense games and have Field Runners already, so picked up Kingdom Rush first. I’ve been pretty much addicted ever since. A perfect start to iPad gaming domination!

Here is my current AppShopper wishlist in no particular order, price drops will probably trigger the next purchase.

Danger Alliance: Battles – It looks like a good TBS
Land Air Sea Warfare HD – Big fan of Total Annihilation, this looked like the closest RTS to that on iOS
MotoHeroz HD – looks like fun
Epoch – The auto shoot, dodge mechanic reminds me of something else, can’t think what.
Tiny Wings – looks like fun
Incoboto – Reviews and recommendations
Aquaria – Is this a bit like a metrovania title?
EDGE Extended – Reminds me of Spindizzy
Perfect Cell – Strangely this reminds me of Abe’s Odyssey
Anomaly Warzone Earth HD – Tower Defense in reverse, looked good in Youtube clips
Infinity Blade II – Is it any good?

There were a few other titles that I’m still a bit undecided about

SuperBros: Sword and Sorcery – This got raves and awards, but on Youtube it just looks so dull?!
Galaxy on Fire 2 HD – Gameplay looks solid (Fan of Elite, Colony Wars, etc), but characters, story and dialogue, etc is painful to go through on Youtube. Also why do the space station interiors look so uninspired?
ShadowGun – Hmm, graphics over gameplay, Epoch edged this out comparing Youtube clips.
Hunters 2 – I’m edging more toward Danger Alliance; this didn’t look to have enough variety.

I see the original version of Paradroid is available, what we need is an update with shinier ships and droids.

I was also looking for something like Shadowfire by Beyond Software. This was the first TBS I ever played, would be good it if got an iOS refresh.

None of the current Populous clones seemed particularly competent.

Edit* The other game clone I was looking for was something like Carnage Heart form PSOne.

Oh, courtesy of my kids, I already have these to look forward to…
Age of Zombies
Jetpac Joyride
Minecraft
NOVA
Dungeon Hunters 2
Doodle Jump
NinJump
Pocket God

MILLIONS OF WORDS

wrt to your 'maybe' list - S&S is only good if you like indie music and are of an arty or thoughful persuasion. Otherwise you will probably hate it.

Hunters 2 is fantastic through and through. Highly recommended.

Shadowgun is poopy poopy poop socks.

GoF2 was OK but didn't catch with me at all. Was a bit boring IMO.

Anyone know whether Romance of the Three Kingdoms is good? It's almost 50% off, but still pretty expensive. Is it like the console versions?

Undercroft is definitely superior looking. The UI is better, and you actually see the faces of your party.

I swore I'd never play Pokemon again after they started adding too much stuff and I got confused with the gameplay. Loophole?

Glad my tablet is a transformer.

That said I can't stand the kairosoft games where you have to actually build/place buildings in certain ways. Always am bored/sick of it after five minutes.

Their games like Game Dev Story/Racing League story Hook it to my veins!
