The Last Guardian review embargo lifts on December 5th at 7am PST/10am EST/16.00 CET

I don't know what to expect but I get the feeling a lot of people are sleeping on this game I think it can get a high MC even above 90.

If the Last Guardian waited another 10 years to be released, it'd be heralded as a retro-style masterpiece. As it stands, it's probably in that "between place" where it's not new enough and not old enough for critics.

Will still be fairly good though.

Shopto have a cool slip on cover and mini OST for £39.85

I was thinking of ordering there too, but UK get a later release date than EU. And there is also shipping time. I can't wait that long.

100s of games inspired from 8/16bit era. Great scores. TLG inspired by PS2 era, the greatest era of gaming ever. Will review badly....

You naysayers are gonna eat crow!!!!

Like I said, it's not old enough for its own aesthetic to become a retro experience. It's still "outdated."

Look at the nostalgia-centered games coming out today. They harken back to PS1/N64 days. Need one more generation, and then we can see PS2/XB/GC games that way.

Now you got me rooting against you. Ico was my favourite of the previous games and really hope ico bears more resemblance to the game.

I've prefered the atmosphere and pacing in Shadow of Colossus. Ico was poorly paced and some of the puzzles weren't fun at all imo. I've never said that ICO was a bad game, i still love this game just not as much as i love the Shadow of Colossus.

I love team Ico and I have been waiting for this game a while but I'm guessing like its predecessors, it's not gonna score super well with the average consumer. Probably between 70-80 at best ?

The game has an art style, by its very definition it's not going to appear outdated the least.

I predict lots of 6s and 7s for technical aspects and "it's a PS3 game" and "it's only 8 hours and doesn't have replay value", lots of 8s and a few 9s and maybe two 10s!
But I hope it'll get amazing scores.

The more time a game is in development, the better it will be. That's just physics.
I know you jest, but this isn't exactly the usual development hell situation. This is more like Inside or The Witness, where the developers have a singular vision from day one and have spent years refining it. Watch the leaked Project Trico prototype footage from 2009 and you'll see similar or exact same moments present in recent gameplay

Think it will go for about 79 on Meta

Fans of the developer will love it no matter the scores anyway - even if it goes below 50 (which it won't).

Enjoy it folks.

This is how I see it as well. The game has never experienced an identity crisis. It's essentially the same game just obsessively refined. We will see how that turns out in a few days.

I find everyones lack of faith disturbing.

94 metacritic. TLG transcends the medium to stand the test of time and will be compared to the all tine greats: Van Gogh, Shakespeare, Mozart, Chris Nolan. Proves once and for all that video games arent just art but something more.

Instead of games trying to be movies (hello Naughty Dog and Kojima), Movies and books will now try to be like TLG. People will write thousand page essays on the complex relationship between the boy and Trico. Researchers and professionals pursuing PhDs and doctorates will research TLG. The world will become a better place as people are inspired to be better and moved by the selfless story of a boy and his catbirddog.

You joke but SotC and Ico both have huge influences in the games world and beyond and many people state either being inspired by them or even getting into the industry because of Team Ico's game, namely Hidetaka Miyazaki of Soulsbourne fame.

Halo and The Last of Us were inspired by Ico as well

Oh, I have complete faith in the game personally. But I have a suspicion part of the reception will include people saying "10 years and it isn't an industry-defining all-time classic masterpiece? What a waste!"
