I actually managed to clear it, and take care of all the infected on my first try. It did involve a plenty of frantic running around, but it helped that I placed a couple of nail bombs there, before I started up the generator.

Because I knew exactly what to expect on my second play-through I carefully planned my run before picking up the security card. I even did 2 dummy runs to make sure I knew my route like the back of my hand before grabbing the card, sprinting for the generator and to the door without breaking stride.

It was still brown trousers time though.

You wasted nail bombs there? Damn son.

I simply get the keycard, turn around and wait in the room where the card was and blast the four runners with a shotgun, turn on the generator and then haul ass to the door bypassing the bloater and anything else on the way.

The basement is an easy way to waste supplies when there's really no need. On my Grounded run, the bloater didn't even appear.

Heh, it definitely was brown trousers time, and I loved it. =D I didn't inspect the surroundings first, so it was pure luck that I managed to survive running like a headless chicken in the dark. Having a plenty of supplies helped though. I think I'm sticking with normal difficulty, when I'm doing the 2nd playthrough on the PS4. I really don't want to experience certain sections on hard, especially the winter.

It may have been a waste of supplies to clear that area of the infected, but I wanted to scrounge the area of supplies, and I didn't find the way out quickly enough. It'll be interesting to play the area again, now that I know what to expect.

horde of enemies that attacks you and david
was the hardest part of the game. less scary than hotel basement (obviously), but a more difficult task

Gotcha. It was your first run so its understandable. But for future reference, there really isnt anything of note and worthwhile in that area. Maybe in Normal mode there is, but otherwise nothing really worth taking the time to scrounge around for (except for a few upgrade parts and maybe half a roll of tape), especially in brown trouser mode.

Cant imagine what this game is like on Normal. I find Hard to be an alright balance and even then, ammunition and crafting supplies are handed out pretty damn generously where (unless you're a horrible shot) you shouldn't ever have to worry about running low on anything.

Normal mode must turn the shit into fuckin no-worries-about-supplies Rambo.

For me the hardest parts were
the escape in the snow, and confronting David afterwards.
I was very close to switching to easy during them.

Here's a protip for the
David
confrontation:

The first of three stabs is easy. Shouldnt need an explanation there, same with the second. Even if you die after you stab him the second time, the game loads it right up at the final moment where you two are hunting each other down and the chandelier is in flames. Right here, head directly into the kitchen on the left. David will ALWAYS creep into the kitchen from the other side and head right in front of the counter. You can get the final stab in easily here without ever having to worry about hunting him down. This works in Hard, Survivor and Grounded mode. Im sure it works on the lower difficulties as well.

Nice tip. Was able to beat that on Survivor but never tried Grounded. Love the album your avatar is based on btw.

Towards the very end I had a plenty of supplies on normal, but most of the game I had to be careful not to waste what I had. I played mostly on stealth mode, instead of gunning down everything around.
The machete made the sewers pretty easy though.

I'm going to take it that this means we'll get more mp maps in the future in the form of DLC (I am going to play the shit out of the mp so this is what I desire). Even if you come back and say this isn't the case, I won't believe you because I don't want to.

That was definitely a pain in the ass especially because its so easy to run out of ammo/supplies

That's why you use the bricks and bottles scattered around to throw at everything and then run up to one shot them
with the switchblade
. Just run around in a big loop and you wont be touched. Also, enemies drop ammo extremely frequently in those scenarios if you ever start running low.

The wording on their last blog post makes it sound like some MP stuff wont be included. The PS4 version includes the following:

  • Left Behind SP DLC
  • Grounded difficulty mode DLC
  • Abandoned Territories MP map pack
  • Reclaimed Territories MP map pack

We recently announced that it’ll be a level playing field in Factions mode as player progress from The Last of Us PS3 multiplayer will not carry over to the PS4 version. However PS3 players will be getting a supply bonus to give their progression a boost. We can now also say that all current DLC content – head items, weapons, and survival skills – that you have purchased for PS3 will be available for you in the PS4 version. So check out the latest DLC if you haven’t yet.

In the PS3 version if you don't buy the mp weapons or the survival skills you can still use them via preset loadouts that have them you just don't have access to use them in custom loadouts. I'm assuming the PS4 version will work the same way.

Stuff like steel books are paid for buy the seller (amazon.de in this case) ... and they price it accordingly. And unfortunately, amazon US doesn't have a history of steel books. That seems to be much more popular in Europe (for DVD/BD and gaming).


And you generally can't get devs/publishers on your side. They'd rather you buy digital since they get a larger percentage ... and get no extra money from special cases at all I suspect.

Okay, I've bitten the bullet. I've gone digital. I really hope Arne is tightening the graphics on level 3. Damned shame if they aren't tight and I've bought this for nothing.

Considering re-buying South Park Stick Of Truth on the US PS account too, since the 360 version I bought before was UK and censored (Fuck Germany!)

Fall is my favourite mini arc for sure. Even though Winter is awesome as well.

Fall is the chapter where Joel and Ellie's relationship really comes together.

Created a US account to get this digitally hoping to avoid censorship. A shame I would have to re-pay for the MP skills and weapons I already have for the PS3 version but at the end of the day it would all cost me like 5 euros more than getting a physical EU copy to play on my EU account. Also now that I have the US account might as well use it for other things in the future, so yeah, I hope it was worth the hassle.
