been playing pc games before steam released and i bitch about why we needed a program to execute my games then i really like and got use to it. then launchers like origin, uplay, battlenet, epic etc came and hate it so having to just to log in inside the game is pretty much nothing compared to having a bunch of launchers.

i really dont understand why some ppl bitch about a freaking log in or if a sdk gets installed or whatever but why the fear?

Screw PSN any all online requirements for single player games. It's as clear as day this is Sony's first step towards their dream of a luncher with direct sales. I say nay nay.

It clearly states that it requires a third-party account. So you will buy it knowing that. This isn't a Helldivers 2 situation.

But when I play Space Marine 2 on PS5 I don't have to login to anything. It is optional. That seems to be the norm in most cases on console. I think if more console gamers had to log into other services then they would probably feel the same as PC gamers.
You have to log into activision on cod on console and nobody complains about that.

This has been an issue on Steam since inception.
Precisely.
As much as I hate playing on PC, this platform is the last bastion of "free from useless shit" gaming.

If anything, of gamers should be doing even more of a mess, not only for the useless psn requirement, but for any sort of account creation too.

I gave you the money, hand over the executable and shut the hell up.

Totally useless for singleplayer, but Sony wants blow up user numbers and i think at some poiint they'll make their own launcher.

How do you play games from EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, and so on..? Just curious. Is there something special about logging into PSN compared to all the other publishers?
Not to mention Steam has one of the most draconian DRM schemes and people have no issue with logging into it. I could understand this PSN criticism from people who use only itch or GoG. Steam users have no moral high ground as they are the ones who first acceded to the signing in to play games you own paradigm. You literally cannot play on Steam when it is offline. God forbid you have an unplanned internet outage, the only way to get around this is to put steam in offline mode while you have internet access.

Not really optional in some games. I had to log into an Activison account for CoD, a ubi account, had to create a warframe account and of course had to log into an xbox account on a playstation too like hell had frozen over. Didn't care one bit to come and create a thread on it to be honest.

Helldivers 2 clearly stated "requires account" from the very beginning. The only difference was that when you launched the game they allowed a skip to prevent server load during the rocky launch.

You can play lots of steam games without steam client. Also Sony put their first games even on gog. This wont/cant happen anymore if they tie their games to PSN. Than you have the restricted country rule. There are lots of valid reasons why people are unhappy about this PSN login.

I dont get it why Sony couldnt keep that shit just optional for people who want it (like they did with Helldriver and GoT). They had such a good start on PC and corpo greed ruined it again.

Game will have miniscule sales on pc so no1 cares what u gonna need to do in order to play it, its like with DA:V, we didnt care it didnt even have denuvo right at launch coz simply game wasnt worth playing anyways.
And for that super tiny portion of pc gamers who till now didnt realise about huge drop in quality vs tlou(everything except graphics and animations, but thats barely the case since we got tlou part1 on pc with really amazing graphics) they will find a way to not have to log in to psn, will simply pirate it.
Likely we wont even get 10k ccu steamplayers in this case imo :p
Same thing gonna happen to another super woke sony game btw, spiderman2.
In comparision first spidey had 66k ccu peak.

So far, Playstation's games have been easily bypassed with simple mods. Games don't seem actually reliant on an internet connection unlike those other games.

I understand people don't like performance killer Denuvo but what's wrong with logging to whatever account?
I am logged in to Steam, Gamepass, PSN, Rockstar, Epic, Pornhub, etc. No issues at all.

Wasn't there a stat bouncing around during the Helldivers 2 fiasco that PSN isn't available in 100+ countries? (I don't know the exact number.)
Bit dumb of Sony to massively cut off a large potential market?.

Good, great move, means when we get the sony Playstation Store on PC my saves will transfer over. Thank you sony. god bless

Knowing Sony you would have to pay for ps+ for it to work.

I love how they limit sales in many countries that don't have PSN officially. Pirates in those countries will be happy.

I don't get why people are upset. Region locking PSN fair enough, but its literally a one time thing and isn't intrusive like the cancer that is Uplay/Origin/Epic

Pc dudes lost this fight long ago when they allowed blizzard rstar ubi & ea to force make accts to play their games their just old men yellin at the skies now lol
Do we have a thread for every pc game that comes out that has an extreme log in or launcher? Alot of pc games have these.

Yet there's a thread for every Sony game that comes to pc regarding the login.

Don't really mind the PSN requirement, the blocking of purchasing is the issue, but it's what ever where there's a will........

Yes, but with Helldivers 2, the PSN account linking requirement was enforced later. This time, the requirement is clear from the start. Additionally, this is a first-party Sony game, so this is expected, whereas Helldivers 1 was by an independent studio.

Basically, this time you cannot be locked out of your purchase.
