The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Game of the Years

For that are playing with Listening Mode set to "off," what is the reasoning? The extra challenge? I didn't see a trophy explicitly tied to that setting.
It's pretty much a wall hack and takes away suspense. It's interesting not knowing what's coming up ahead and tackling each area with caution.

Aight, where is that from? lool

It was at the part where
a solider shoots Sarah and she dies in Joel's arms.
. It was very choppy, but I haven't had any problems since then so it could of been an anomaly. It could of also been my PS4, but it would be the first problem it has ever had.

Yeah. Could very well be the PS4. I have both consoles and during play. the glass cabinet door has to be open because the airflow area in the back just isn't enough.

This is the order I cleared that section :

Take out the runner that walks through that back room in the hallway where you start first. Then the 2nd runner that's "patrolling" around the clicker. Those two runners are what made that part so difficult for me, after I downed them the rest of the area was a piece of cake. Finished up by taking a brick to the clicker's face. This section and the next in the
pitch-black area full of clickers
are fucking tense on Survivor without listen mode.

Thanks for the tips! I think I will be able to make it through now with only a few deaths instead of dozens. lol

I want to use the new triggers but am worried I'll get confused after playing so much of this game over the past year. Curious to hear impressions of those who have it.
I've used (and preferred) the new PS4 triggers in every game...until now. Played for a bit last night and it just didn't feel right. The aiming and shooting actually feels fine, but I just can't get used to the 'run' button being 'L1.' Doesn't feel as natural to me for some reason. I'll probably end up switching to the old control scheme.

I think going Normal was a huge mistake. I thought I'd be terrified of "zombies" (or whatever they are) in this game but as it turns out I feel like Batman. The fact that I can see through walls... ugh. Removes a lot of the tension.

That being said, the presentation is amazing and the characters are interesting so far.
Even if you don't want to give the new "grounded" difficulty a try, I highly recommend playing on survivor. I've played through the game multiple times and I'm convinced it's the definitive way to play the game.

Was the game still installing ?
Seem like games have problems when you play them while they still installing sometimes.

I had forgotten how amazing this game was. I hadn't played it since my initial PS3 playthrough at launch.

Also locked 30fps mode somehow feels worse than the original's framerate, it seems really stuttery

not a bad game but dont get all the 10/10's

environments are a mixed bag, a lot look really blocky and undetailed (though they did a fantastic job on the characters and achieving 1080p 60 fps)

game tells me to hold in L3 to sneak without alerting clicker, clicker hears me anyway. get the prompt to triangle kill them? randomly doesnt work.

I dont have enough bullets becase I couldnt store man than 14 bullets for my revolver in my giant backpack?

I'm so frustrated with the clicker gameplay. This is like a 60fps 1080p version of condemned (which I loved) so its so disappointing to find the clicker sections a complete chore to play through.

You need to use a Shiv to stealth kill a Clicker with the Triangle prompt. The same Shivs that you use
to open loot doors
. Even if you're crouched, you still can't move around Clickers at max speed.

L3 is Photo Mode... I don't think it told you to use Photo Mode to sneak past Clickers.

Bought it (again). DAT 60fps.

But ND really needs just adjust the difficulty levels. It is easier on PS4 (due to better fps and a superior controller) but the game really is hard as fuck sometimes, yes even on Easy.

This is another Jak II (which was über hard sometimes).
With the range the game has (Easy to grounded or whatever it is called) there should be no reason for easy being as hard as it can be.

Especially this game. I had issues with it on ps3 too. I played a little bit this go around while it was installing with no issues but I consider myself lucky.

If it was still installing I would definitely attribute these issues to that.

hey guys, i have a question for those that bought it from an alternate account(PSN PRE-ORDER) to play the game on your main account. Did any of the DLC appeared in your main account? im really disapointed that i find this kind of bullshit with a ND game specially because it was 5 bucks cheaper in my main account but they put the game way too late thats why i didnt buy it there

also how can you activate the ingame commentary?

Quick question, a wonderful GAFer gifted me this game since I have not played it yet. Is beginning toddler friendly? Im going to start tonight, but want to know if its ok for my 4 year old see watch the start or not. I know it gets quite graphic later, but I have no idea about the beginning. Thanks.

No, absolutely not.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Also, you can join #TeamBrick and bash a clicker's head in from behind.

But not with bottles, because they're lame.

You don't hold down L3. You walk slowly while crouched (O) by lightly tilting L3.

Yeah it seems you have to approach them from behind, they detect you even in crouch L3 from the front, but they dont from the rear WHICH MAKES NO SENSE since they are sound based and cannot see.

Don't expect a third person shooter that's high in action. I mean, it is third person...and you do shoot, but Resident Evil, this is not. TLOU requires more pre-planning and youthfulness when deal with groups of enemies.

In terms of the clickers hearing you when you're crouched, you have to walk very slowly. Crouching at full speed is gonna get you killed.

I don't want to return the copy I have on me now. Just want to know if I could return the gamestop copy at Fry's.

I'm about to open this copy now and play it. Never played this game before. I heard that Hard mode with listen mode turned off is the best way to play it.

I don't think you will be able to return a gamestop copy and Frys. If you can't wait open up the Fry's copy, play it and when you get the gamestop copy just return that for a refund or credit towards your next game.

Only complain I have about this remaster is the antialiasing, it could have been better, it's so weird, sometimes it works impressively well but other times is like there's not AA at all, everything else is phenomenal

I'm not sure whether to play it on normal or hard. This will be my first play through. I have a lot of experience with 3rd person games, I just don't want it to be too tough on my first go, because hopefully I'll be motivated to finish this multiple times.
Gonna say you should do Normal. I am a veteran of gaming myself and I had a blast on Normal for my first time and I felt plenty challenged.

Nope!

Save it for after they go to bed. Or else the kid will have nightmares.

Don't think so IMO , on easy the game is very easy to beat .
Th amount of supplies you have is crazy and you can just beat everyone to death lol .
Add in listen mode and it's a cake walk .

That's not the case. Clickers detect sound. You have to crouch walk slowly. If you crouch walk at full speed they will hear your footsteps.

It's also important not to forget the
Note with the safe combo on it, and the safe itself, of course
.

That is after you have cleared the section I was talking about. It's not far after though, just past when you see
the dead firefly and get your first molotov, enter the subway and sneak through a waiting room of some sort with lockers in jam packed with clickers
so there is another potential combat scenario before you need to worry about the
note with the safe combo and the safeitself
.

The main collectible things in the area I mentioned are a couple of health pick ups.

yeah it was my mistake, I thought I had to hold in L3 to sneak slowly (and since they never showed that tip again, I kept retrying with that assumption)

They really needed a better tutorial system for important aspects like that, it really breaks the pacing when you replay a section 30 times.

It's only post-processing antialiasing, it could absolutely be much better. I'm a bit disappointed by that, but it's clear that porting this game over from the Cell didn't afford them much room for the AA I was hoping for.

Then I just suck at this game. :p

Because I remember having a hard ass time with the game on PS3. I havent gotten very far in the PS4 version though. Maybe the non-suck-ass controller will help me out this time.

Seem like games have problems when you play them while they still installing sometimes.

I played right the game after installing the new PS4 update/installing some other game updates. It's possible that it effected the game's performance. I'm not overly worried as it happened in only one spot, but it did make that cut-scene pretty much unwatchable which is unfortunate given the circumstances.

Made it a decent bit last night, getting to the
Capitol Building
and I realize that hard hasn't been overly hard. I've only died once and that was with the first actual clicker combat in the tower where you have to "clear the way" for the group. I've always had issues with that one anyway.

The game is just as good as I remember. The only complaints I got right now are there are still some lingering bugs and that the cut scenes look weird at 60fps. It's like it's too smooth for me coming from the original. I'll cope because everything is so buttery smooth during gameplay as well.

I'll add a few shots later tonight that I still need to transfer over from my PS4. I spent a bit too much time messing with DoF and some of the filters. Still need a good shot or two to go along with the photo booth overlays.

there are harder spots but the game isn't that bad if your good at it

Huh when does it ever tell you that? It tells you to move the left stick really really slowly.
