It should also be noted to all the newbies and Trophy hunters that the collectibles stack and stay through multiple playthroughs. Comics and pendants that you find wont be in those spots during subsequent runs. One and done with all of them once you find them that first time.

However, the optional conversations will always pop up regardless if you've already heard them. They do stack and stay too though.

Are you certain it's not there? It was present in the brief glimpses of real-time footage in that one longer trailer. I mean, traditionally a 180° shutter angle is used, which means motion blur will be far more pronounced at 30fps than at 60fps, where there is less motion occurring per frame to be blurred.

EDIT: Here are grabs of all the shots I can recall being real-time from the E3 trailer, and you can definitely see per-object motion blur present in freeze frame, but it's fairly hard to discern it in motion since it's somewhat subtle. This is from the 60fps version on Naughty Dog's site, btw.

Its a trailer, they add motion blur.. its not like that in the actual game.

YES, exactly.

Is that from the PS4 version?!

Oh no, as someone else noted, those effects were absolutely present in the PS3 version during gameplay.

So if I'm reading this right, I should play the game with all the "assistance' off, and start on hard? Are those features enabled by default?

Well, it was there in the actual game on PS3.

nowhere near like whats in that trailer. the ps4 game does have the same motion blur effect the PS3 game had but its a bit toned down.

Oh no, as someone else noted, those effects were absolutely present in the PS3 version during gameplay.

nothing like what you see in that trailer.. it has motion blur but its not applied the way you see there. Its more like on certain moving parts or edges, not across the entire screen unless you pan the camera around quickly.

Looking on Flickr it's labeled Remasterd, and you can see the PS4 screengrab icon in a couple shots. Guess that answers that :p

Listen Mode is enabled automatically so yeah, you gotta go into the Options and turn it off.

On the two hardest difficulties though it is shut off automatically and you can't turn it on.

Made a gallery of some screencaps of it in the realtime sections of the E3 trailer. In motion it looks like it's off but I think it's just shutter adjusted for 60. It actually looks like they're using the same amount of motion blur in gameplay now as cutscenes but it's more subtle.

Don't know if this is useful, but here's a reference as to the difference FPS makes to motion blur—
Here are two frames I've rendered of a moving box, one at 30fps with a standard 180 degree shutter angle, and the other at 60fps with the same shutter angle:

30fps:

60fps:

In motion, the 60fps version essentially looks like there's no motion blur at all.

Honestly, it's ironic that a lot of people are complaining about the lack of motion blur at 60fps, because that's exactly the "cinematic" difference that people pretend doesn't exist. Motion blur (in film) is by definition a symptom of a low framerate (24fps equals a 1/48second shutter speed, 60fps equals a 1/120second shutter speed with a 180 degree shutter). You barely have motion blur at 60fps. If you fake too much motion blur on a high framerate, it doesn't make any sense visually. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Really nice. I love cranking that Dynamic Range to the max and turning the volume up. That speaker setup thing should be handy, too with my back surround speakers being a little oddly placed. It's such a good sounding game.

I would really like to know what would be best for my setup. I have a 5.1 Pioneer receiver attached to a complete 5 speaker set of Sony speakers and powered subwoofer. I have it set to play exactly what it's being fed unchanged, but what should I be feeding it in these settings?

Everybody should start on Grounded mode.

I don't think that would be fun for your very first experience with the game. You want to experience the story with a decent amount of challenge, playing on grounded for the first time and dying over and over and over again is gonna take you out of the flow/immersion of the story, imo.

Does anyone think Survival or Grounded will be available right from the start? I really want to play on one of those two modes. I've beaten this game three times so far (I still need to try Grounded) and I really don't want to have to start on Normal again.

Every difficulty is available right from the start.

And if the NG+ glitch works and I can start a Grounded+ run with my arsenal from Hard, then I'll give it another shot but man, Fall fucking wrecked me during that first attempt.

It's already been confirmed they are available from the start, all difficulties are open from the start as well as the DLC.

There's still plenty of motion blur from the stream I'm watching. Mostly during melee combat.

Its all there, its just the higher framerate that makes it more subtle. only thing missing is that clothing ruffles thing... maybe in day 1 patch or soon. Someone please point it out to ND so they can be aware of it.

Grounded really does throwback to old school Resident Evil ammo scarcity. I'm talking finding an ammo box with ONE bullet in it when you have a total of seven or eight rounds for four weapons you're carrying (and you'll be approaching someplace like the Financial District or something).

I mean, I like my masochistic difficulties and all, but Grounded is on a whole other level. I'm sure my age and lack of extreme patience for that sorta thing is a factor but oh well. Get off my lawn bitches.

You absolutely can "have your cake and eat it too". PC games have been doing this for years and it looks great at 60 fps. It doesn't need to be exaggerated but it still improves visual quality in motion.

Dark10x will you be doing the DF analysis when you receive the game? I think 60fps plus good motion blur can make a big difference especially on a plasma tv.

Best movie ever!!!

It has been on repeat in our house for a couple of months now
LITERALLY
due to one of my kids being addicted
AGAIN LITERALLY
to it. Luckily it is probably the best kids/animated movie I have ever seen. The humor is really top notch! I decided that for today I am only going to do lego movie gifs. lol

Yep. Good motion blur at 60fps will help avoid the "sterile" criticism I see sometimes thrown at 60fps games.
