No, Grounded mode has checkpoints - they're just further apart. I found this out rather frustratingly lol.

Ok, this remaster is going to take some getting used to for me. They remapped shooting to R2, in fact all of the shoulder buttons are mapped differently. Like for instance whereas sprint used to be on L2, its now on L1. I know - people like to shoot with the triggers. But I'm used to the old control scheme. I guess I'll adjust.

edit: Ah. Apparently you can use the old scheme if you prefer. But I'll at least try out the new scheme.

Ok so I'm planning to play through the game 3 times (again):
  • Hard + Listen Mode off to get a feel of the game again.
  • Hard+ + Listen Mode off with the commentary on, will get all collectibles and dialogue trophies during this playthrough.
  • Grounded, didn't play this mode on PS3 and people say it's brutal so I'll leave it for last.

Commentary track is Troy, Ashley, and Neil -- all recorded after PS3 development wrapped up. Actually, funny story is that was the first time Troy and Ashley had seen the final completed cutscenes as it would be shown in the game.

With the commentary, is it going to automatically triggered automatically by the game or will the user have some sort of control over it with something similar to how Valve does theirs?

Yeah Children of Men is one of my favorite movies ever, and 28 Days Later is amazing as well. I'd lower my expectations for The Road if I were you though, it's vastly inferior to the novel it's adapted from, and the other movies you just watched. It has some very good scenes, but they're scattered amongst some really bad ones.

The Road was fucking terrible, especially compared to the book. Even if I hadn't read the book beforehand I STILL would've thought the movie was a steaming pile of shit.

Oh I've seen it already. I agree, it is not the greatest but it really does hit that same dark, gritty tone as The Last of Us IMO. Being a parent though it kicks me square in the pants. Basically the whole movie I can't help but imagine how I would handle the same scenario.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any decent post apocalyptic/pandemic type movies I haven't seen. I could really use some fresh meat!
