Gamefly is responsible for my 1000 Achievement points in Hannah Montanah, TMNT, Terminator, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and several other games because they wouldn't send me anything I actually wanted to play. I cancelled my account after a few months. After 3 months of owning a Gamefly account and a proper Top 10 Request list setting up (of course with my most wanted games at the top) I never received a single game that I wanted. That was 3 years ago, though, they may be better now.

Gamefly doesn't rent PC games, though, so it's entirely useless to me at this point. The Last of Us is the only console game I'm playing in 2013. PS3 going back in the closet after that.

Holy shit that's some horrible luck. I had an issue similar to that in 2008 briefly, but when I signed back up in 2010, 2011, and this year I ended up with every game that I wanted to play, and the majority of them were new releases. I always use the two out at a time plan though so that I can easily rotate games instead of having to wait for the 1-4 day mail both ways and possibly having to wait an additional month for a new release.

somebody talkin bad bout Far Cry 2 ?

Question:

I'm on a media blackout, last footage I watched was E3. Does the demo have the same camera angle as the E3 demo? Its closer than say, Uncharted and a bit to the side from what I remember. I hope it does, from a few screenshots I glanced it, the camera looks more pulled back.

I feel like it adds more tension and switches up the norm which is always a good thing.

You just spent quite a bit of money for one ten to fifteen hour game that you might replay maybe once or twice in the future.

It was a terrible choice.

Probably should have at least waited till E3 considering the game doesn't even come out until the 14th.

PS3 will most likely be price cut..

You made the wrong choice, but The Last of Us could be the game of the generation, so you may have made a good wrong choice.

You guys suck *cries in a corner*

There shouldn't be any regrets so long as you make a conscious effort to buy more exclusives for the system instead of basing your whole purchase around one game. There's Beyond, rain, Puppeteer and Gran Turismo 6 still to come this year, if any of those take your fancy.

Yeah it gives me a chance to get Demon's Souls finally. Only ever played Dark cos it came to PC. Also if GTA V releases sooner on consoles than PC I will get to play it earlier. I also always wanted to try Journey

oh god, more "citizen kane of gaming" bullshit. Great.

I'm well prepared for this game to thoroughly unimpress me. I tend to be at odds with what the gaming press considers "revolutionary". If this isn't a safe, linear, "cinematic" zombie shooter I will be legitimately surprised.

Well it's nice to know we have you, an outstanding paragon of integrity to steer people on the right direction away from this linear, derivative game. Bless you sir.

Hmm.. games this gen I regret paying full price.

DOA4
Final Fantasy XIII
Fable 2
Infamous
Halo 3: ODST
Resident Evil 5
Assassin's Creed 3
Rockstars Table Tennis

That's about it really.

I think lots of people are there with you on FF13 :) The only games that comes to mind immediately that I regret paying full price for are Bioshock Infinite and maybe Revengeance (Awesome game, but $60 for about 6.5 hours is hard to swallow). I'll gladly to pay full price for TLoU though. Hoping for at least 12 hours on Hard mode. Anything else is icing on the cake.

no fight, will just create a makeshift molotov cocktail and toss it into the crowd

i learned that shit from Last Of Us, come at me

I thought you were on our side man. lol

I sure fucking hope so. Wouldn't feel right, otherwise.

Unquestionably. Prepare yourself now.

I do actually kinda miss him. We need someone to fire up the threads and get some debating going. Does anyone know when his ban is up?

I hope not. If he is, he should be brought back for the OT and then banned again.

I think TLoU is right up Derrick's alley, too. Non-linear level design, advanced AI, ammo management, etc.

I'm sure he has an alt or two lying around :P. What, you guys dont think Wollan/doombringer , etc don't post here still? Guarantee they do. Bannings are hardly final.

So Totobeni is Derrick's alt then!

Golly I wonder if this why the subscriber lead time on Edge has been quite short this month. Only 2 days before the street date.

Can't wait to see what they give it.

Does what the Last of Us have really be called 'non-linear level design'? Because from every single thing I've seen Last of Us does not even fit in the same stratosphere of a game I'd say had genuinely 'non-linear level design', so I cannot imagine it would fit Derrick's idea.

Derrick was mostly excited about the AI

I enjoyed all of Final Fantasy XIII up until the point that I realized the plot wasn't going to pay off in any meaningful way.

So basically, I enjoyed the entire game up until I killed the final boss and then completely regretted playing the game at all. I despise it.

Funny thing is, though, the same thing happened for FFXII (great gameplay, absolutely no payoff in the plot) but I'm not nearly as disgusted by that game as I am by 13. I haven't figured out why, yet.

I'm willing to accept that my disposition towards FFXIII is slightly irrational, but as far as I'm concerned that game fucked me with no lube.

Is it still irrational considering that SS had two additional episodes in the hopper?
My opinion went from "Typical.." to "Maybe they will make it right in 13-2." Now I just want to finish the story.

Had the same issue with FFX-2. Could not find the last boss (and refused to look on GameFAQs)...after a few nights of trying (and grinding), I didn't care; 120 hours down the drain. I will never make that mistake again ..ABC.

Are you day one on this Ami? re4 fan at all?

I'm day one, yeah, but I walk into this with a heavy dose of skepticism, because me and Naughty Dog have not got along well this gen. Uncharted was fairly emblematic of everything I think is wrong with modern AAA game design, so coming off of that I'm looking to see some meaningful entreaties back into the realm of pure gameplay, with death and lost progress being the result of not applying your skills properly, with lots of viable strategic option to make different types of playthroughs possible, with tension being fostered by extremely difficult enemies and a very real threat of a game over at every turn.

I am fairly optimistic about Last Of Us, in particular I'm practically a fanboy over their pick of Gustavo Santaolalla, but I have to go in with my expectations realistic considering what they made this gen.

Yeah I don't think lost progression will come into it. Just plenty of restarting.

this is the first time in a game that I will purposely look to play on the hardest possible difficulty.

A game that's meant about survival, and limited resources, should be played with the most challenging mode possible.

With out a normal run though?

I'm with you ...however only after betting it on normal.
