I have a 4 star Guardian chest and leggings but no helm because I don't like how it looks. I am aware that I am missing out on the full set bonuses by mixing.
Mainly for practical reasons since I don't have everything fully upgraded. Some combinations look hideous and I don't wear them any longer than I need to.
Even easier. Stand on the weak point. Grab 2 hand club, and then do the spinning charge attack. With a strong enough weapon, it'll be dead really quick.

I used to find them tough but now I just go agro and run at them as they are forming and keep hopping until I climb up them. Then wail on teh weak spot usually with a one handed. They can usually shake you off just once but then I run back again and climb. I dont even bother knocking off the arms anymore.
This only works for standard ones though. The Ice ones are different as well as the ones with the weakspot on the back.

Yeah the last one I fought the spot was on the back. I was on top of it letting bombs slide off its back, but then he'd shake me off. I didn't actually realize/notice that the weak spot can be in different places, no wonder some were easier to deal with than others.
I like the x3/x5 bomb-arrows-from-the-air method with these. Since time freeze while aiming it's much easier to hit the target than from the ground.
I found and completed my 120th shrine last night. It was the
Goron hot plate challenge one
. I have walked past that area countless times and somehow never noticed it.
After collecting my awesome reward from
Forgotten Temple
, I decided to revisit Satori Mountain. I've only been there once, briefly, to check out that blue beam and the awesome surprise waiting there.
Holy shit, the amount of Koroks! I must have found around a dozen in 10-15 minutes on, around or nearby. They're everywhere, revealed by a whole range of puzzles.
Not only that but the mountain has just about every good product in the game all in one place. Every mushroom, every herb, truffles, carrots, apples, durians, acorns. Oh, and tonnes of ore and treasure chests too. It's like a museum of game collectables.
If anyone ever asks me what to do first after leaving the Plateau I'm going to tell them to head straight to Satori Mountain, because they'll leave with a packed inventory, a bunch of Korok seeds, a completed Shrine (and views of several others) and maybe even

This was exactly the advice I gave to my partner. The game funnels you towards the Zora after completing Kakariko, but the Rito is a much better direction for new players. You pick up the White Horse, get a tonne of healing goodies, pick up the Rito ability which is pretty universally agreed to be the most useful, have the easiest dungeon, you cannot move for new shrines early on, and so on. In retrospect, I still don't quite understand the design decision to push players towards the Zora first.

Me neither, because I completely agree with you. Rito Village, in hindsight, seems the most logical direction from the Plateau. It is nearer, the dungeon had a quicker prelude and it's the easiest to complete and Revali's Gale helps adventuring thereafter.
I did Rito Village last for some reason and getting the gale ability this late on feels like a little bit of a waste. There are so many areas I could have accessed sooner with that added vertical boost. On the other hand, I appreciate the graft I put in to haul my way up all those cliffs and towers using my tiny stamina wheel and the occasional elixir.
This time I did Zora>Death Mountain>Gerudo>Rito.
Next time I play through the game I'm going to do Rito>Gerudo>Zora>Death Mountain.

I feel there are several reasons why Zora works well as first:
- Mipha's ability is awesome for new players since they likely still have few hearts.
- The way to Zora's domain acts as a great tutorial on arrows and environmental effects. Also, you'll probably be stacked with arrows after reaching Zora's domain.
- Zora plot is by far the most fleshed out and sheds backstory for Link.
- Lynel tutorial.
I agree that in terms of utility Rito may be the best choice of a first one but in terms of teaching stuff to players Zora is the best IMO.
Last night I completed the Weapon Connesouir, Bank of Wishes love letter and Zora's Domain monuments side quests. Also found and completed a side quest I had somehow missed in which I delivered a horse to a guy the rocky valley.
Unless there is something else I've accidentally skipped past on my travels that is all side, shrine and main quests complete apart from defeating Ganon.
I think tonight might be the night I take on Ganon.
Don't treasure chests count towards the completion percentage? Have you found and emptied them all? I hear there are tons of them all over the map, many deviously hidden.
Friend just sent me this message:
My tally:
400 seeds (three more slots and I'll finish my shield stash)
All treasure boxes cleared off the map, doesn't beep anywhere anymore (I still have to double down on Shrines and Mazes, but not the forgotten temple!)
Btw, finding all boxes in the southern Beach, Hyrule castle/lake, Korok forest, and the pitch dark forest north of it WAS NOT fun at all - meticulously hidden, as if Nintendo had a vendetta against completionists!.
In addition to that it keeps beeping near Hateno Village (bug) and there is a sunken box you can't plug out of the sea (bug) and Eventide Island chests keeps re-spawning. (Cleared them twice to a constant deja vous, then realized later all came back)
-10 quests are missing, 2 shrines, 8 sides ...
I'm at the end of my tether here, and I'm STILL playing the game as if I bought it yesterday.
(How could that be!! ... what voodoo magic was this game imbued with!)

It's been a while since I defeated the last divine beast and I've just been doing side quests, shrines, and exploring new areas since. One of the few things this game does not do well is any sense of urgency. Maybe I should just finish the main quest now.
All I want is all Shrines, all seeds, all clothing/armor, all memories, all side quests done and my iPad picture portfolio completely filled out.
I didn't know the game keeps track of treasure chests. Not sure I want to worry about that but good to know now that I'm 215 hours in and not 315 hours in.
There is nothing that tells your Korok seeds are in the area are there? Not until that DLC mask?

I don't think it does actually, my friend just realized that and told me about it, after he spent days hunting chests thinking they contribute to the percentage completion.
The weapons you get from treasure chests are kinda randomized, right? At least some of them have to be. For example if you wait until late in the game to open chests in the first four shrines on the plateu you can get weapons with powerful buffs that no way would have been there early on.
So I just opened a box in Faron that had a Phrenic Bow with Durability Up+, which had me giddy as I love this bow and they're hard to come by. Since my inventory was was full when I opened the box I was wondering if I can leave the box unemptied, mark it on my map, and return to it later, will it still have the same bow inside or could it turn to something else?
That's it, I've done it. I've defeated Ganon. I've completed Breath of the Wild.
120 Shrines, all memories, all divine beasts, 340 Koroks.
My map completion is 52%. I have absolutely no idea what the other 48% is; I've journeyed to every end of Hyrule, crossed every bridge, climbed every mountain.
Apparently I missed two shrine quests and EIGHT side quests. Again, no idea.
Putting the game away until August. I need to get my life back. I have books to read and everything.
So, what do the coliseum ruins reference? I've looked online in a couple places but I cannot figure it out. Is it supposed to be Arbiters grounds? Is it supposed to just be a new location we haven't seen before? Apologies if its been asked before.
On my final divine beast (Vah Naboris - the best one yet!), and Thunderblight Ganon's form... cause use a cryptic hint on how to get past that shield...

Energetic Rhino Beetles are the goddamn bane of my existence. The only spot I've found that seems to have more than one or two is the beach around a certain beach village.
Anyone know of a decent location for farming these suckers? I want to have my of the Wild gear fully upgraded before DLC hits - at this rate it'll be next year before I have enough of these God forsaken beetles!

I knew I shouldn't be trading these with Beedle... Glad I haven't been, I think I only have a few though, they're quite rare.
Speaking of Beedle, I hate having to sit through his entire grumbly dialogue about the beetle every time I speak with him (because I always refuse his trade deal). For everything the game does right, not letting you skip repetitive lines like this is frustrating and feels so archaic.
To be fair, you wanted to know about the shield and you know he has a shield... and not everyone would catagorize what you encountered as a shield unless you're talking about that same shield that just so happens to have a way around it aside from the usual shield mechanics which are unnecessary from your solution?

Urbosa says "find a way around that shield" and I specifically mentioned the second phase. That hint just basically gave me the same info Urbosa does. I wanted a hint on what that actually meant within the context of this boss fight.
Maybe he was purposely being like Fi and giving you the same info you're already told lol.
Haha right?? I vaguely remember having a few of them at some point in the previous 200+ hours, but lord knows what I did with them. Probably made a few elixers or...
It'd be one thing if he offered anything decent in return for these rare as hen's teeth beetles, thereby accomplishing what I assume is their goal of teaching you about cooking, but nope - just some low level buff stuff.
Also, yeah - if this guy can't learn that no means no, then please, Nintendo; write up a few dozen responses he can cycle through. I think that dialogue about not wanting to get his hands dirty is actually pretty funny! Just not so much after the 200th time reading it.
It's honestly amazing that our gripes with a game this large are mostly made up of little stuff like this, or the fact that there aren't any kitties in the game. i tend to think Nintendo hung the moon, but even I am somewhat surprised by the downright magical quality of this game.

There are little odds and ends to critique for me about this game but, the most telling thing that makes me realise how much I love it, is how difficult it is for me to go back and replay the other Zelda games. I know that those games are just entirely different formats but the worlds are so small and the games just feel much less developed after playing BOTW. Unbelievable work Nintendo.
Trying to fight thunderblight ganon with 4 hearts.... died about 15 times in a row. Maybe this guy shouldn't have been my first boss fight, everything is a one shot.
Lynel bows seem to break really quickly. Does the x3 arrow effect also degrade the bow three times a normal rate?
Put in nearly four hours tonight. At 354 korok seeds. I'm still uncovering huge new sections of the map. Even areas I thought I was familiar with show secrets tucked away when I revisit.
I've completet 106 or 107 shrines I think, and found the location of two that I haven't completed. But it's really a challange to find them all (for me atleast). I think it might be time to start using the shrine sensor, even though I wanted to avoid using it. I've barley used it so far. And I still got som quests to find, and armors to upgrade.
