The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom Final Trailer is Here

Alright I finally rolled credits in BOTW after owning the game since late 2017 lmao. Now I'm ready for TOTK. Hopefully it won't take me nearly 6 years of off and on playing to finish.

3 days to go!

I'm wondering if they have any DLC coming out for this one. I thought they'd announce stuff before release. I think we knew about the expansion pass for BotW almost a month before the game launched.

So apparently it will have a day one patch improving the performance and has FidelityFX super resolution?

Will believe it when I see it.

That's the scuttlebutt. At least one youtuber claims FidelityFX was in the game all along from 1.0.0, but most are saying it was added in the 370mb 1.1.0 patch. Seems to be using it now, whichever the case. Note that this is FSR 1.0 and not the computationally expensive 2.0, so this is an algorithmic spacial upscaler and not a temporal one like 2.0 and DLSS. That said, FSR 1.0 is apparently the best spacial upscaler (source). It also can be applied only to the 3D elements while the HUD can still be native 1080p all along.

So TOTK has FSR 1.0, and with 1.1.0 patch also has visual glitch fixes. Strong consensus is that the game looks sharper now and runs much better, but still has drops in some areas.

Digital Foundry if they're worth their salt will do a 1.0.0 VS 1.1.0 comparison video.

Questions yet to answer:
Is it upscaling to 900p from something lower? Or is it upscaling to 1080p from something much lower? Either way there should be a great performance benefit.

That's very welcome because some of the footage and seeing that framerate, ouch. A significant graphics update wouldn't be bad either, some of the aliasing is very noticeable. Not good. In some comparison videos Breath actually looked better.

I'm in no rush to get the game, need to finish Breath first anyway, but maybe once they have the new hardware I'll get it. That is assuming those rumors are true. Question is when.

Cool, hope it helps. I remember the BotW Switch patch making quite a big difference compared to the WiiU version back in the day.

So Nintendo just casually confirmed dungeons over at their website with the ask the developer page : https://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/a...-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-part-3/

"We've only discussed the skies, but this title has its dungeons too, right?

Fujibayashi
: Yes, we haven't talked about the dungeons yet. They've changed from the previous game. For example, there is a dungeon that connects directly from Hyrule's surface. If you dive from the sky straight into the dungeon, you'll trigger an event. We think this will be a new experience that wasn't possible in the previous game.
Dohta: We've made dungeons unique to their respective environments, so we think you'll be able to enjoy the wide variety of regional characteristics.
Takizawa: Making a "wide variety" was pretty challenging. The four Divine Beasts were the dungeons in the last game, and they shared similar designs. This time, the dungeons are huge and each carry their own regional look and feel, just like traditional The Legend of Zelda games. We think they will provide a satisfying challenge for players. They were certainly a challenge to develop! (Laughs)"

Do you guys think side quests or secrets giving Heart Pieces will come back?
I would guess you'll get them in a similar fashion as in BotW. Maybe you'll be able to choose between increasing hearts, stamina or battery (for the Zonai stuff) this time.

What I'm hoping personally is that side quest give more cool stuff, like new gliders, outfits/gear with neat attributes etc.

I get the feeling after TotK a lot more people are going to start acknowledging BotW's faults once they see what it should have been all along.
I definitely agree with this sentiment. TOTK feels like someone smoothed out all of the rough bits + expanded on lacking parts of BOTW... and then added a whole new game and half on top of it, including a massive addition to the map.

1 more day!

I'll be avoiding watching and reading reviews today as well, might as well just play it tomorrow.

Here is the live launch event. IT IS ON NOW!

Finally got my copy! I'll disappear for a few days as I let this game consume me.

See you on the other side!
