Having finished Fire Brigade last night, I'd say I have about 100 or so pieces "left over". Anyone else that built this one have a ton of left over pieces? I know some of the pegs (or whatever they're called) are used to attach the modulars together, but there were a bunch of other miscellaneous pieces (some that were never even used) that were still there after I completed it.

"Some that were never even used" sounds suspicious. I'd go thruogh the instructions and check if you missed some parts.

I had about ten to twenty pieces left, but they were either black pegs or 1x1 plates/slopes. Nothing major.

It's normal to have extra pieces. Lego usually includes duplicates of the smaller ones in case they get lost, etc. But 100 extras seems high, even for a modular. Could you have possibly missed a step?

I double-checked, and there were like some blue pieces that were never used (so not even duplicates). These were all in the bags for the 1st floor, and may or may not have been in the "missing bag" that LEGO sent.

The only blue in the set was the alarm box on the front of the station. And the fridge.

Sounds like you got a lot of bonus from that missing bag if everything is left over from first floor.

Well, I'd say as long as your final build looks ok, you scored some nice extras!

It does seem that the more recent sets do come with quite a few bonus pieces though. I probably had 25 or so with my winter village sets. Though older sets (pre-2007 or so) typically didn't come with more than 2 or 3. Lego's getting generous.

Okay I think I'm done buying for a while, or at least until the Marvel and new Star Wars sets come out haha. I went to the LEGO store during lunch and picked up the Imperial Shuttle before double points runs out. I'm up to 1123 points from this month!

My haul for double VIP month is:
10197 Fire Brigade
10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter
10216 Winter Village Bakery
10222 Winter Village Post Office
10212 Imperial Shuttle

Non LEGO store purchases this month:
8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack
8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack
8097 Slave 1
30051 x2 Micro Scale X-Wing (found these at Microcenter for 3.99!)

Really nice haul! That will keep you busy for a while.

When does double VIP run out? I may head to the store and pick up Town Hall now after all.

Tomorrow is the last day! I was on the fence about the shuttle but I decided to just get it now in fear of it being hard to find later down the road.

God damn, the online Lego shop just plain sucks.

I placed my Death Star order first thing Monday morning and it was sitting in "customer service" status until this afternoon. It is now "in process." Still no shipping and it's been well over 48 hours. I'm only doing business with them for the double VIP points, but now I feel like I don't even want to spend my certificates whenever I finally get them!

And yes, I wrote customer support yesterday, no response ever. So I called them today and he said "it's a high dollar order so it is taking a while to verify your CC info and billing address, etc."

It was basically a non-answer so I just have to keep waiting for it to ship. Which will also take many many days, I'm sure. And as some of you remember, I recently had some serious grief with my Imperial Shuttle from Amazon, so as you can imagine, I am really feeling the pain of not having a Lego store in my city right now.

I searched for your shuttle in the warehouse deals and nothing has come up yet. When did you return it, a couple weeks ago? Their listing for warehouse deals right now are just regular Lego items that have a slight discount, but I know I have seen actual returned item deals in the past.

They did authorization on my cc immediately but now that my order shipped I have not been charged. Yeah, without a Lego store in ct I don't know how often I will order from their site since it takes longer than everywhere else.

I got an email that Amazon received my returned package on March 2nd. They might be sitting there counting pieces, because at least two of the bags had split open when I got it. After shipping it all the way back to them, I'm sure even more bags split open :p

I feel bad for all of you guys having such terrible luck with the Lego store. Personally, my experience has been all around good (outside of them taking ~24-36 hours to ship...but that's expected with a larger outfit).

One set came with a hole in the manual. My shuttle was also missing 1 piece.

I put in a request and got authorization 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. Still nothing. :/

I believe their warehouse is in Denmark, so if you're in North America, it can take a while to receive replacement parts. But they'll come, eventually!

Yeah, I just got my PAB order they shipped from poland. Took forever to even get in the US, but got to me in two days once it did.

I'm just spoiled by 3 day delivery on almost anything these days.

It took about 3 weeks for my replacement X-Wing and TIE pieces to come. Got both this week. It's hard to say exactly when the transactions finished because I got multiple email verifications for the same requests. They came though so I am happy.

Mine came yesterday and it has a big ass crease down the middle of the box grrrrrrr. I hate that I care so much about a box, but the anal collector in me hates the imperfection.

Mine came today and thankfully it seems in pretty good shape. This thread saved me about $80 seeing as Slave 1 sells for $169 on Amazon.ca.

Too bad shipping was $24, but still, Slave 1 is gonna get built tonight!

This thread is amazing btw.

Local store got in the Fire Brigade, so I finally picked it up, as well as the Mini-modulars.

Guy at the store said this was their last shipment of Fire Brigades, so I picked up a second one to stash in the closet for a year. First time i've ever bought a LEGO for future sale purpose, lets see how it goes!.

Nice haul from the Lego store.

My first Technic set;

Torn between the X-Wing and TIE but I have the UCS X-Wing so the new set just doesn't do it for me.

2 large PAB cups, not sure how many pieces as I emptied them together but happy with what I got:

This was the other day but can't remember if I posted it;

Some Bricklink orders came in;

On the subject of postage with Lego I'm in the UK and it does seem slow but that's because they use the truly awful services of Yodel/DHL/HDL where it seems to take 24 hours for tracking info to even start pulling through.

The store cannot be beat though, always helpful espcially with strange PAB requests if the bins are getting empty they bring boxes out, helping to feel for the robots was top shelf too.

Still waiting for the Town Hall to arrive in the general stores (Amazon etc). Anyone know how long the wait usually is for the LEGO Direct sets?

How badly does the value drop on an open set usually?

So that Fire Brigade will be my first 'major' set build. I have the added challenge of a 3 year old joining me. :)

Anyhow, any tips for the build?

I tend to give my 2.5 year old the mini figs straight away too keep her occupied, while I was building the pet store first floor she standing them all inside as I built the walls.

When I finished the first floor I gave it to her to play with while I started on the 2nd floor. It was very cute, she said "thanks for building it for me daddy"

She usually never says thank you unless you prompt her to first

Going to do a mini-mdoular, would like to try the build in a bag thing.

We had someone in here do it, so I'm wondering, how did you open the bag inside the bag?

That must have made you feel so great. I love "building" with my son as well.

God help me, I think I am going to go on tower bridge. My wife feels guilty for putting the idea in my head so I have an out. I will also be broke but I don't care:)

Lego has been around forever. Get some presence in North America already, christ

You shouldn't complain. 26 U.S. states and 3 Canada provinces with multiple stores, 2 countries other than Denmark in all of Europe.

(ok, you can complain if you're not in one of the states or provinces)

I will complain. No store in ct. Of course that is probably for the best. At least my wallet.

Really tempted to get the mini modular while it's still double points and free shipping, the only reason I have second thoughts on it is due to the Zellers clearance that just started and the possibility of getting two $100+ sets for half price, as opposed to just the mini modular set. (But by the time the Lego is half price at Zellers they may not even have anything I want, and then I'd have to wait for another free shipping and double points event!)

The minis are really really great if you're looking to grab them. :) Worth the price you pay, for sure!

I guess, being $100 to Canadians versus $79 to Americans is really another big thing putting me off from buying from the website. It looks like a fun set, but since it's so new, I don't feel the need to jump on it now when I can possibly have it shipped to a hotel the next time I'm down south and just bring it back with me.

That's a fair point - that US vs CAN pricing is so unfair for you guys, haha.

Well I got myself an excuse. Since most of my LEGOs are from the late80s/early 90s - Golden Era indeed - but out of my reach since far away in another country, I just thought "why not complement them with some current ones". One day, once I have children, they can enjoy LEGO from both periods. Who knows if the models wont suck again in a few years.

That's how I convince my fiance that it's cool I spend this much on Lego. :) Our kids will pretty much have the coolest dad ever.
